An Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and his father were allegedly brutally attacked by members of a wedding procession in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh after they objected to people drinking and causing a disturbance on the road, according to local police and complaint documents.
The incident took place on the Amargarh–Jahangirabad road, near Amargarh village under Jahangirabad police station, when Pratham Singh, serving in the Indian Air Force, and his father Jitendra Singh, who is a primary school principal, were returning from a family engagement ceremony on Thursday evening.
According to their complaint, a large wedding procession with loud music and a traditional ghudchadhi ceremony blocked the road. Several participants were allegedly holding liquor bottles, dancing in the middle of the road, and causing a traffic jam. When Jitendra Singh honked to seek passage, an argument broke out.
The situation escalated further after the father and son objected to what they described as verbal abuse from the wedding participants. Soon after, the accused allegedly attacked them with sticks and iron rods, inflicting serious injuries. Both the Air Force personnel and his father were rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to the district hospital for further treatment.
During the assault, the victims also claim that a wristwatch and a gold chain went missing.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving information and have registered a case. So far, a case has been filed against seven named individuals and several unidentified persons. One accused has been taken into custody and booked for breach of peace, while investigations continue, the Station House Officer said. Both sides have submitted their complaints to the authorities.
A video of the assault has circulated on social media and is reportedly going viral, drawing attention from local residents and authorities.
