The Junior Officer Cipher Course conducted at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow culminated on 28 February 2026, marking the successful completion of an intensive training programme focused on strengthening secure communication capabilities within the armed forces.
The course was designed to equip young officers with critical knowledge and practical expertise in secure communications, encryption methodologies and cyber defence mechanisms. In an era defined by evolving technological threats and complex digital warfare environments, the programme aimed at enhancing the officers’ ability to safeguard sensitive military networks and ensure information superiority on the modern battlefield.

Throughout the course, participants underwent rigorous theoretical instruction and hands-on training modules that emphasised operational relevance, technological adaptability and proactive cyber resilience. The curriculum reflected the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on strengthening its information warfare and network security capabilities to counter emerging threats effectively.

Maj Gen Gautam Mahajan, SM, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor (DCCI), MCTE, delivered the closing address to the student officers. In his remarks, he underscored the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and technological competence in the evolving domain of military communications. He also felicitated officers who demonstrated exceptional performance during the course.

Capt Sandeep Singh Rawat was adjudged the ‘Best Student’ of the Junior Officer Cipher Course, earning recognition for his outstanding performance and commitment to excellence. The successful conclusion of the course reaffirms MCTE’s pivotal role in shaping technically proficient leaders capable of securing the nation’s military communications infrastructure.
