General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), addressed officers of the 81st Staff Course and Permanent Staff at the Defence Services Staff College, underscoring the importance of jointmanship and adaptability in modern warfare.
During the visit, the CDS unveiled a new “CDS Medal” to be awarded to the officer adjudged best in jointness during the course, reinforcing the emphasis on inter-service cooperation within the armed forces.
In his address, Gen Chauhan elaborated on ongoing transformative reforms within the Indian military, highlighting the need for integrated operations in response to evolving security challenges. He stressed that future military leaders must be agile, forward-thinking, and capable of operating seamlessly across services.
Emphasising inter-service synergy as a cornerstone of future warfare, the CDS urged officers to strengthen coordination and foster a deeper understanding of joint operations.
He was also briefed by the Commandant of DSSC on ongoing training activities, which focus on enhancing inter-service awareness and preparing officers for higher command and staff responsibilities.
The visit reflects the Indian Armed Forces’ continued focus on joint training, leadership development, and institutional reforms aimed at building a more integrated and future-ready military.
