Battalion Cadet Captain (BCC) Sushant Varma of Panther Squadron emerged as the top performer in the Social Science stream at the Convocation Ceremony of the historic 150th Course of the National Defence Academy (NDA), securing first position with an FGPA of 7.35.
For his outstanding academic performance in the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programme, BCC Varma was awarded the prestigious Commandant’s Silver Medal and the CAS Trophy, instituted by Air Chief Marshal NC Suri, PVSM, AVSM, VM (Retd.), former Chief of the Air Staff.
Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Sushant Varma completed his schooling at Army Public School Damana, where he laid the foundation for his academic excellence and leadership qualities before joining the NDA.
The award was presented during the Convocation Ceremony held at Khadakwasla on May 29, where graduating cadets of the NDA’s 150th Course were recognised for their academic achievements before proceeding towards their commissioning journey in the Armed Forces.
Throughout his tenure at the Academy, BCC Varma demonstrated consistent academic performance while balancing the demanding military training, leadership responsibilities and physical standards expected of NDA cadets.
His achievement reflects the NDA’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded military leaders who excel not only in military training but also in academics, leadership and character development.
The Convocation Ceremony saw 236 cadets receive degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, marking an important milestone in their journey towards becoming officers of the Armed Forces.
BCC Sushant Varma’s success stands as a proud achievement for Army Public School Damana and serves as an inspiration for aspiring defence candidates from Jammu and Kashmir who dream of serving the nation in uniform.
