The state championship, organised by the Rajasthan Rifle Association, was held in Jaipur from June 14 to June 29, 2026. A contingent of 22 cadets represented RMS Dholpur and competed against some of the finest shooters from across Rajasthan.

Displaying remarkable concentration, discipline, composure and accuracy under pressure, 15 cadets successfully achieved the qualifying standards for the Pre-National Championship. The strong qualification rate across rifle and pistol events reflects the cadets’ dedication and the effectiveness of the school’s structured shooting programme.

The achievement has further strengthened RMS Dholpur’s reputation as one of India’s leading educational institutions promoting excellence in sports alongside academics, military-oriented training and leadership development.

Investment in Modern Sporting Infrastructure

The latest success is the result of sustained investment by RMS Dholpur in sporting infrastructure, professional coaching and systematic talent development.

The school has established a state-of-the-art indoor shooting range that provides cadets with professional training facilities comparable to those available at major competitive venues. The facility enables cadets to practise regularly in a controlled environment while developing the technical skills required for rifle and pistol shooting events.

Structured practice schedules, scientific coaching methods, individual performance analysis and regular participation in state and national-level competitions have helped create a competitive sporting ecosystem within the institution.

Cadets with an aptitude for shooting are identified at an early stage and provided focused training to improve their accuracy, stability, confidence and competitive temperament.

Expert Coaching and Mentorship

The shooting programme at RMS Dholpur is being led by Shooting Coach Gopal and Teacher In-charge Kundan Singh Bhati.

Bhati is himself a Pre-National qualifier in the 50-metre Free Pistol event. His competitive experience, combined with the technical guidance of Coach Gopal, has played an important role in preparing the cadets for high-pressure shooting competitions.

The coaches provide individual attention to the shooters, helping them improve their posture, breathing control, trigger technique, concentration and emotional stability. The training also focuses on helping cadets remain calm and consistent during competitive events.

The qualification of 15 out of 22 participating cadets highlights the effectiveness of the school’s coaching methodology and the commitment shown by both the cadets and their mentors.

Shooting as a Medium for Character Development

At RMS Dholpur, shooting is viewed not merely as a competitive sport but also as an important tool for character building.

Precision sports require patience, concentration, emotional control, resilience and the ability to make decisions under pressure. These qualities closely complement the school’s mission of preparing disciplined future military officers, leaders and responsible citizens.

Alongside academic education, cadets at the institution actively participate in sports, adventure activities, vocational education and leadership development programmes. This balanced approach is aimed at ensuring their intellectual, physical and moral development.

Participation in competitive shooting also teaches cadets the importance of preparation, consistency, self-evaluation and perseverance. These qualities remain valuable both on the shooting range and in the wider challenges of life and military service.

Principal Congratulates Cadets and Coaching Staff

Principal Lt Col (Dr) Amit Sharma, Vishisht Seva Medal, congratulated the cadets and coaching staff for their outstanding performance at the Rajasthan State Shooting Championship.

He appreciated the dedication, discipline and hard work demonstrated by the participating cadets and their mentors. He said that such achievements motivate every student at the institution to pursue excellence with perseverance and commitment.

The Principal reiterated that RMS Dholpur would continue to strengthen its sporting infrastructure and provide greater competitive exposure to its cadets.

The school aims to prepare its young athletes to perform successfully not only at state and national competitions but also at international platforms in the future.

The qualification of 15 cadets for the Pre-National Shooting Championship marks another significant milestone in the sporting journey of Rashtriya Military School Dholpur. It also reflects the institution’s continuing commitment to nurturing disciplined, confident and well-rounded young leaders through excellence in education, sports and character development.
