INS Sumitra Receives Unit Citation for Anti-Piracy Operations in Central Arabian Sea

In a remarkable display of valor and operational excellence, the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sumitra has been awarded an on-the-spot Unit Citation by Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), for its successful conduct of Anti-Piracy Operations in the Central Arabian Sea.

The commendation, bestowed upon INS Sumitra during a special ceremony presided over by Admiral Hari Kumar, underscores the ship’s pivotal role in apprehending 11 Somali Pirates and rescuing 17 Iranian and 19 Pakistani nationals from the hijacked Fishing Vessels Iman and Al Naeemi.
