In a major breakthrough, Mohanlalganj police have arrested Madan Ram, a former Army deserter and joint director of HK Infravision Pvt Ltd, for orchestrating a multi-crore real estate scam that defrauded over 150 Army and paramilitary personnel, as well as civilians.
The accused was nabbed from his native village in Ballia district. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Kumar, the scam centered around fraudulent plot allotments under various HK Infravision projects, including the so-called “Kanha Upvan Valley” in Lucknow.
Victims were enticed with glossy brochures and fake promises of prime land, only to later discover that the properties either didn’t exist, were already disputed, or remained inaccessible. Serving defence personnel were deliberately targeted due to their limited availability to verify property matters while on duty.
Investigations revealed that Madan Ram deserted the Indian Army 15 years ago. He later joined forces with co-directors Pramod Upadhyay and Vinod Upadhyay, who allegedly brought him into the company with the lure of profits and perks. The trio used forged documents and fake registries to trap unsuspecting buyers.
Police have so far registered 19 FIRs in the case. Over ₹15 lakh has been frozen across 19 bank accounts linked to the accused, and four high-end vehicles have been seized.
Madan Ram faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120B (criminal conspiracy). The investigation is ongoing, with more arrests likely as authorities dig deeper into the scam network.
