Operation Sindoor: The Defining Moment

In 2025, during escalating hostilities, Pakistan launched a Fateh-class ballistic missile targeted at the Indian capital. Under Kapil’s command, the IAF’s Barak-8 surface-to-air missile system was deployed from Sirsa Air Base.

The system successfully intercepted and destroyed the incoming missile over Haryana airspace, averting a catastrophic strike on Delhi. This operation not only showcased India’s growing air defence capabilities but also demonstrated Kapil’s calm leadership under pressure.

For his planning and execution during this mission, he was conferred the Yudh Seva Medal, one of India’s most prestigious gallantry recognitions in conflict situations.
