5 Life Lessons Military Brats Learn Early In Life

Being a military kid is different. We military brats live in a diverse subculture where we experience the military life as well as the civilian life which involves going on road trips, shifting and moving from place to place, meeting new people, adapting to the new surroundings, interacting with people from all age groups and so much more.
The military life shapes the entire personality and the life of military brats. Being born and brought up in the military one is for sure, you won’t be the ordinary child, your life experiences will be different than your civil counterparts, your family dynamics will be different, your definition of normal will be different, your perspective in life will be different, pretty much everything about you will be different.

While there are these differences in lifestyle, there are also certain values and lessons that military brats learn way too early in life. Lessons, which help us understand life better and make us the way we are.

  1. Nothing substitutes hard work.
Be it keeping our rooms organized, helping the parents with the home chores or doing the school projects and assignments in time, if there’s one thing military brats learn quite early in their childhood then it’s the value of hard work. We understand that though we may not be getting much fruitful results for our dedication and hard work now, we will someday. While many others struggle to keep up with the stress and chaos in their adult life, military kids are so accustomed to systematic work that no task seems too big or chaotic. Dedication does pay off. Sooner or later.
  2. No task/work is too small or below you.
The sense of humility comes early in military kids. The military parents always nudge and encourage their children to do their work on their own. The feeling of being independent and to be able to do any task with the thought that it’ll help you learn and grow and it’s good for your development is common to every military brat. Each task is done to empower oneself and no task is adjudged to be something that we ought not to do.
  3. History is important.
Us military kids get to go places along with our parents to different stations on postings and we get to visit different areas and cities and learn new things. With a rich history and culture like ours, one can’t help but be proud and if you happen to be a military brat then it’s all the more reason for you to be familiar with possibly all the places in the country and know the achievements of the Armed Forces and the history of our country.
  4. Diversity is enriching.
With moving from place to place every two- three years, there’s not just a change in the city/state but also the food, the sports, the culture and getting to see and know all these differences from an early age is something that really makes the military brats able to see thing from a different, (holistic rather) viewpoint. Different ideologies and different viewpoints enable the military kids to see things in a manner which is quite different from others. The interaction with people from different backgrounds enriches the overall personality of military brats.
  5. Importance of relationships.
With their father/ mother being posted somewhere and they themselves living elsewhere, and changing schools every two- three years and becoming the new kid everywhere they go, it’s possible that a child may end up having adjustment problems. However, the military brats look at this as a challenging to overcome and in time they realise that relationships are invaluable. Making friends in every station that they go to and remaining friends after several years, ability to start a small talk with anyone and to be in a long distance relationship are all examples of how the military brats can manage their relationships well from an early age.

Story Of Lt. Suchit Nautiyal Will Make You Emotional Also A Lesson For Young Officers

Lt. Suchit Nautiyal

I barely update my status on facebook, but today iam going to upadate and a long one !  Iam going to write something about a person who was my childhood friend , batchmate, ssbmate, tution friend, coaching friend, he was my mentor and motivator, much more than that he was my brother , we were real brother from different mother .  It is the story of a person who was truely dedicated to indian army , he was Lieutenant Suchit Nautiyal

Life & destiny had stolen my best friend from me , not a friend from me , but a son from a mother , a brother from a sister , an idle from children and a true friend from our group.

The story begins in 2010 when we both started dreaming of ARMY OFFICER together we filled the form , we gave exam , prepared for SSB but he succeed and I failed , he used to tell me each & everything happend in SSB from very first day to till conference & I was praying for him at home . He was unhappy when I failed but I was happy that he had done his work , he cleared his first ssb from 18 ssb ALLAHABAD . Later on he also cleared TES ssb from same board . But he joined NDA .
On 11-01-2011 he departed from dehradun and on 13-01-2011 he reported at khadakwasla , PUNE for his further studies. But before leaving d.dun he said me ” bhai ! I also wana see you there asap ” never give up , keep on trying till last ! . I let him believe , sure I will be with you soon . Later on when I cleared indian navy he was the happiest one among all but unfortunately I was medicaly unfit . He gave me moral support by saying ” bhai teri kismat mai kuch bada likha hai ”
He was very intelligent boy , a great artist and a fabulous BOXER , he always wanted to serve his nation , he cleared almost all the exam which he had given ! No one knows he left IIT for NDA . He used to call me from there whenever he got time he told me how he used to cry when he was in 1st sem , but when he became “DUKKI “(means in 2nd year ) he started enjoying there , he also told me how his seniors took his punishment by the system of PAIL , he also told me about the NDA SPECIAL TRAIN how he enjoyed whole night . He was very generous , inteligent and down to earth boy. He was gold medalist in boxing at NDA . He passed out from NDA in 2013 and on 13-01-2014 he joined prestigious IMA nearby his house . Lt. Suchit Nautiyal
He spent his 1 year in IMA , he taught cadet there how to drill properly to clear DST . He was very positive and cheerful boy , never got upset by anyone . He was the one who was with me in my on & off, when I was conferenced out from 18ssb allahabad , he was very upset , (I took some imp tips from him and his room mate Mukul Saini ) his words were ” bhai mujhe hamesha is baat ka malal rahega ki tu mere sath academy mai nahi hoga ” but don’t give up . “If I have done it , you can do it and you will do it . ” believe in yourself and be original . .if today iam still crazy for army just because of him. He was the one who knew everything about me , and I knew everythng about him , I enjoyed my life fullest with him . He taught me swimming, he always helped me whenever I was in problem . He was an extraordinary boxer , he won silver medal in IMA . , owing to small height he lost final bout with his oponent , I said bhai big things come in small packages. He replied bhai ” LIFE IS A GIFT ACCEPT IT ” he said later I will try for OLYMPIC from army everyone appreciated him for his kind nd coperative behaviour ,whether he is juniors /seniors to him . I still remembered that day when we both were in ima canteen one of my friends come and said ” YAAR NAUTIYAL SIR TO BHOT BHENKAR HAI ‘SWORD OF HONOUR ‘ KE CANDIDATE HAI ” But he stoped him by saying ‘ ye sab kuch nai hota just give your best & always be honest to your work and yourself ‘
Last year on 13-12-2014 an auspicious day of his birthday he passed out from IMA . I was very happy and that moment brings me to tears when the shower of flowers was put over G.C. But I was little upset that he didn’t get the “sword of honour ” he was JUO in academy. He said me ” bhai ye sab moh maya hai , bhanu pratap singh bhot acha and hard working genius cadet tha isliye use mila, dono ne same post pe jana hai and OUR MAIN AIM IS TO SERVE & SAVE OUR COUNTRY . We enjoyed alot after P.O.P for next 18 days . He got 8 GORKHA RIFLES. . On 31st -dec -2014 he called his adjutant from IMA I WAS WITH HIM. his officer asked him to report on 3rd of jan at chandigarh and from there he had to go kargil . He had 1 year attachment with infantry . On 3rd of jan he arrived at chandigarh and started the 2nd phase of life to serve the nation as an army officer. During this 11 month he moved different different places with his unit like kargil , leh , ladakh , batalic and an intense area like kupwara . He loved and give respect to his troup . Once when he came home we went to garhi cantt for some official work, one soldier check our identity he saluted suchit he said ” aap mere papa ki age ke hai jab dress mai honga tab kariyega abi mah. Civilian hu . It shows how down to earth he was. He was thinking to bringing up of one student whose parents cannot afford for studies, even he had given 2 to 3 thousand rupees per month for his education and look after . He wanted that education is our birth right and one must get it . ! ! ! He gave his last 11 months to indian army at the intense area like kupwara , kargil , leh etc . He fought there with natural disaster with great passion, once I dint get his call for few days then he told me that he had strucken in snow and went around 5 to 6 ft down the surface at batalic for 3 hours, but one of his troops saved him but unfortunately that troop met with a mine and there was a great blast and has been admitted in base hospital, chandigarh . Suchit was very upset for few days . Before coming , dehradun he called me nd said bhai finally I have given my 11 months to indian army here . And. I enjoyed alot here. Bas 14 din bache hai ye kat jaye sahi se . On 3rd dec he messaged me bhai mai kal garh aara hu and I got posting in pune finally . . . On 5th dec. Around 12.30 pm, I and Abhishek Semwal went to his home just to meet him . But his brother told “bhai wo bua ke garh gaya hai ” he bought new bike for his younger brother on diwali , so that he can go college easily . He was thinking to buy a car in pune but god has already written something for him . Suddenly I got a call from ROHIT , WHERE IS SUCHIT ? (everyone was thinking he was with me ) I said ” wo garh agaya apni bua ke yaha hai ” he told me ” uske garh pe bhot bheed hai , he met with an accident and WOH CHALA GAYA ” I SHOUTED WHAT !!!!
I went to his home and the scenario was improbable . I never screamed in my life but that day it was unstoppable. I was remembering all those precious moments which we had enjoyed together . I was remembering your those words why you called it again nd again “bhai shaheed ho jaounga par road accident mai nahi marna gharwale bhot rote hai . ” I was stunned. I wish if I were be with you that time result might be different . I have visited best place of my life with him the only place where we have never been to that was CEMETRY. Although this time was also with you yet never thought it’s for you bro !!:'(Lt. Suchit Nautiyal In IMA
But at the same time you showed me again how anyone can get respect even after death. From soldier to Maj General everyone was presented to gave him guard of honour . When your body was taking away for funeral , I silently stood in the corner and cry on that fateful day, I refused to say goodbye because I didn’t want to see you go away . I wanted to u see last time he was lying down with the great smile.
I heard that chat between the Brigadier and your commanding officer that it is the loss of country , he was a great young officer who could go upto the post of GENERAL because he was too young !! But …………. )

Our friendship is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Talking to you made me smile and meeting you set me free. I can’t believe that fate is taking you away and ripping us apart. I just want to say that I will miss you from the bottom of my heart.

Life and destiny had stolen my friend away from me but nothing can take away the precious memory !!

I don’t want you to like it !!
but I want you to share it.
He was very environment-friendly he always wanted to plant trees ! .if u respect indian army and our soldiers please must plant a tree nearby your locality and wherever you want ,as today(13 dec ) is his birthday it will be great tribute to him.
Although he has lived short life yet the work done by him was great .
He was also a great motivational speaker he always motivated youth to join indian army . So I also request you on his behalf , JOIN ARMY ! And feel that awesome feeling of wearing dress and serve the nation .

Please drive with care someone loves you !!!

Thanks !!
Rip bro !!

9 Unofficial Punishments By Seniors You Will Get At Military Training Academy

9 Unofficial Punishments By Seniors

Firstly I would like to clear up the air about the word ‘Punishments’. The meaning of the word at defence training academies in India is not what is commonly understood as a moral rebuke or penance to make amends for a wrong doing. It’s more matter of factly like Penalties.

A punishment just means a ‘WTF’ interruption in your routine plans to chill out or do something you’ve been planning on catching up with for the past week – in my time back in 1988, it usually meant writing that letter or tidying up the billet or catching up with assignments etc. It does not mean ‘Ragging’ as made out in pop media – not by a long shot!

Disclaimer : The narrative below is from my own training at IMA in 1988. A lot may have changed since, so please don’t judge these wonderful institutions from outward appearances. If it was possible, the blood in my veins would be of Olive Green color!

UNOFFICIAL ‘PUNISHMENTS’ BY SENIORS :

  1. Swimming on the Rocks: Crawling on gravel with arms locked behind the back clad only in IMA swimming costume. I did plenty of that every day during the break between training hours and sports.
  2. Rogering Nite (Summers) : Front Rolls > Back Rolls > Side Rolls in random combination of 10 each after consuming at least two bath mugs full of water post dinner. Duration Two hours or maybe more. Venue – Billet compound which usually had grass to soak up the vomit many would throw up. Kit – Swimming Costume. Battle Cry – Cannot be printed. Too saucy! Mind you there was neither inclination nor energy to go take a shower before hitting the sack. Just stagger in wipe body with the towel and dive in forget the odour. We all smell the same.  No wonder we had a dozen bed sheets and towels apiece.IMA OTA Punishments
  3. Missourie Nights (Winter) :  Front Rolls > Back Rolls > Side Rolls in random combination after consuming at least two bath mugs full of water post dinner. One bath mug of water to douse the body and stand at Savdhaan (Attention Position) for a few minutes. No trembling allowed. Then the senior would one by one ask each cadet to count the total number of lights visible in Mussourie (16 KM away as the crow flies)Naturally there was no correct figure. One person would be arbitrarily picked out as the correct answer and would be told to do the honour of pouring a mug full of water over the heads of the rest of the platoon. Believe you me the guy doing the honour was anything but relieved because he would be told to drink up the rest of the water in all the buckets and then the whole platoon would be ‘dismissed’ to go and fill up another bucket full and get back into parade in double time. The straggler would be told that the whole batch would have to repeat the whole shindig because he got too late.
  4. Muster Bluster
Muster Call at 0430h. Since it is expected GCs would be sleepy after a long night Ragda session, the received wisdom of the senior cadets used to be that put them through their paces first thing in the morning so that they don’t get sluggish while going to the PT fall-in. Thereafter they will keep going through the day.
Patti Parade – change from sports kit to outdoor Dungaree to indoor formals and back to PT  Kit.
  5. BAJRI ORDER :
Type I : Single Pack : Rucksack ‘A’ Scale filled with gravel. Minimum 30 min of  Sit (on haunches) Stand Sit – Stand, Sit – Stand, Sit – Stand… Dress Dungarees. For special occasions – swimming trunks.Type II : Two rucksacks ‘A’ Scale strapped together filled with gravel. Scores of Sit (on haunches) Stand Sit – Stand, Sit – Stand, Sit – Stand …Type III :  Two rucksacks ‘A’ Scale strapped together filled with gravel and a cycle held in bare hands and raised over the head. Stand Attention or the more favorite Sit – Stand, Sit – Stand, Sit – Stand …
  6. Endurance Run :  Time after dinner. Dress dungarees and ammunition boots.
  7. Hackle Order :  Full ceremonial cadet dress with IMA hackle clipped onto beret / turban. Done to throw the fear of the Company Commander into a persons hide. It meant, do this the next time and you get marched upto the Coy Cdr and that could mean anything from 14 restrictions onwards … (For official punishment Restrictions see below)
  8. Push Ups (Military Style ie. arms locked to the side of chest and not akimbo like pehalwans) anything from 100 to 500. I could reach well beyond 100 after that the ‘Shamming’ started. The seniors notice, you get yelled at but the game goes on in all seriousness. Oh well! Wish there was a rewind button in life. Would gladly return to belove IMA!
  9. Sit Ups : (Arms locked behind the head legs stretched out)  Infinite ie. as many as can be squeezed into the night. I have personally done 650 (Helped me a lot. I am arguably the first person in the World to reach Rohtang Pass on an ordinary cycle (Hero Brand) with a three speed gear added on after cycling all the way from Dehradun 550 KM (3985 Mtrs Lat 32.371627 Lon 77.246681 Google Earth) Rohtang to Pathankot via Dharamsala 353 KM

5 Ways To Build Focus And Concentration Power

5 Ways To Build Focus And Concentration Power

Basic introspection of repeaters has reported the lack of focus and concentration. It is never analysed by a common man. But SSB crew is trained to observe it. It plays a crucial role in SSB and most of the candidates get rejected due to this problem. Now firstly, let’s discuss what actually this thing is? In the Armed Forces, every officer has to operate and command his men, irrespective of the situation and circumstances. Keeping personal emotions out of the task, an officer must focus on handling the situation. It is the quality that most of the candidates neglect and then blames the SSB panel for partiality. Now, what is the requirement of this quality in SSB?

  • To grasp what is said in personal interview.
  • To refine the ideas.
  • Do what is said. Not more or less then told to do.
  • Segregate the task as per the priority.
  • Getting a plan in GTO structures needs focus.
  • Grasping and Replying to the comments in GD

Well, it is not a non-curable problem. Nothing is impossible for and officers, but efforts are necessary. Following some steps can improve your concentration power. It will not give any instant result. But constant efforts will show you improvement in your concentration and focus power.

How to build focus to perform better in SSB

  1. Meditation – Meditation is always termed as the best way to build a good focus power. These days, yoga is emerging as the best way to increase the focus power and can replace mediation.
  2. Concentrate On What Is Said – One of the basic thing that most of the candidates skip during their preparation for SSB, is to increase their grasping power. This needs a focus on what is being asked and its respective response that will fulfil the requirement of the question.
  3. Observe things in Normal Life – Just observe the casual things in day to day life and try to talk to unknown people. The thing that is to be learnt is to observe the casual things like reading books, watching TV etc.
  4. Physical Exercise and Sports – Physical exercise increases mental strength and also improve the concentration efficiency. Running and doing basic physical exercises keeps your mind fit and healthy and ready to focus. Playing outdoor games or indoor games like chess also improves your concentration power.
  5. Practicing Basic Mind Games – Some specialist recommends mind games to improve concentration and focus. These mind games can be like counting from 100 to 1 continuously, or counting 100-1 with a gap of 3(100, 97, 94..) etc. These practices improve your concentration and aim binding ability.

To crack SSB interview,  recommend you to get “Let’s Crack SSB Interview” book from Amazon.

Conclusion – Focus and concentration are one of the most important qualities that are expected in an officer. To find out this thing in yourself, you need to introspect yourself. Once you find the problem, it will be easy to solve it.  Out of the above ways to improve concentration, playing sports is the best and easiest way to improve focus and concentration. So, make your next attempt, your final attempt and give your best.

5 Killer Ways To Boost Your Self-Confidence

0
5 Killer Ways To Boost Your Self-Confidence

For every parent, the first line while describing their child is “Iska dimag bhot tezz hai! He is having enormous potential!!!”. No matter how dull or lazy their child is, somewhere it’s a blind belief that their son/daughter is the best one. The power of that belief is so much it turns that same dull guy into a bright one, why???? Because the myth becomes reality if you put efforts to make it one with confidence and hardwork.
But as we go out of our homes, for graduation or for any other reason, out of our comfort zone we tend to doubt our own potential. But don’t loose your hope because here’s the key for how to fight that situation.
1. Judge:
Judge, not others but yourself. Look at yourself from the eyes of others, and by others, I don’t mean someone who know you,I mean someone who don’t know you but your deeds and displays. And be as just as possible in that. If you are not working hard,be it because of any reason, accept the FACT that you are not working hard enough. You’ll never be able to improve yourself untill you get to know that there is a scope of improvement. And there is always some scope of improvement.

2. Criticise:
Again, not others but yourself. There is a thin line between criticising and judging. In judging you have to look at yourself but in criticism you have to judge yourself and make a specific comment or decision(mostly bothering or provoking) which will surely fall in your favour if you know how to use your aggression in right direction. And the best way for this according to me is to compare yourself with “perfect version” of yourself. “Kaash main aisa hota” , that “kaash” version of yourself and we all are good in imagining things so it won’t be a tough task :p

3. Change:
Done with judging and criticising, now is the time for a verdict. Punishments or hardships are actually way to make a person better than he was before. Don’t get too rough but make changes slowly, adapt and implement. Change is the law of nature, follow that law. Changes are good, change is constant, and even if your change is not appropriate, you’ll get experience.

4. Gain Control:
Chain that wild dog inside you. Learn to command your nerve. Like an ascetic, develop a lifestyle where you can control your impulse and maintain discipline, there is no need to be too much into that but if you’ll try for 100% you’ll reach 60 or something… Just like I get. So,try your best to get over your bad habits and addictions if any.

5. Love Yourself:
Easiest yet the toughest one to follow. Everything is OK unless your guilt starts dominating your confidence. But to be specific, like a parent, love yourself with all your faults and mistakes, with courage to overcome failures. A never ending love and affection for oneself, because if you yourself can’t do this then don’t expect anyone ever would.

To crack SSB interview,  recommend you to get “Let’s Crack SSB Interview” book from Amazon.

With all these points stated I tried my best to make it short and simple, and I hope it would be helpful to all of you reading this. You’ll always face some negative reviews and confidence breaking comments but “log kya sochte hain ye bhi tum hi sochoge….to log kya sochenge??” . So do listen to others, but never take any negative remark too seriously if it’s baseless.

Taking a bow here, JAI HIND 🙂

Recommended For Indian Coast Guard [PSB and FSB Experience]

0

Hi to all defence aspirants there, this is Prashant Thakur a graduate from govt. PG college Dharamshala HP. Today I want to share my experience of coast guard PSB and FSB with you guys . This was my 2nd attempt overall but first attempt for coast guard. In first attempt  I went to AFSB Mysore and got conference out there. Now my PSB [Preliminary Selection Board] was on 23rd JAN. I started my journey from Baijnath  Himachal Pradesh  on 22nd night and reached Delhi on 23rd. I got freshen up at my friends house and reached coast guard board Noida at 12 pm .

On reaching there I got to know that due to  electricity cut , they were behind the schedule and the morning batch had not been concluded , so we all candidates had to wait there for around 4 hours for our written and document verification. At around 4 pm they called our lot of 127 students for documents check.

spot_img

So I ran fast and got into first seat for documentation, the Navik sir checked my documents , after that, I got some relief  . They took around another half an hour for the document check of other candidates and in the mean time I did my lunch and that too from my friends   tiffin which I made there J . At around 5 Pm the officer there  started giving us our answer sheets  . The officer was too slow that he took another half an hour to give us our answer sheets. Then we entered the room where an officer instructed us about the test.

The test was in 7 parts, the first section was  of  10 questions and mind it that first 5 questions were like demons , I couldn’t even touch them so I just made guesses to them ,u guys also don’t worry about the first 4-5 questions because they are made hard intentionally just to intimidate you and check your mental balance . Hardly one can crack them , so just chill.  The other 5 questions were of blood relations , those one I cracked.

Hence, I got a momentum after that and started cracking  other sections. As a  whole the test was moderate but the only thing which make this test hard is the time constraint. For every question there , hardly one gets  few seconds varying from 4-45 , and as they show the questions on a projector screen, the question would be flipped after its  limited time of few seconds . So u can’t even recall a question even if u spare some time at the end.

After  the test I was not sure about my written because I thought the questions were too easy to crack and hence many candidates would have given their best , hence the merit would be high. Me and my friends ( which I made there) were discussing our responses and were laughing that aisa ch***a test aj tak nii dia. After around 10 mins the results came and the officer started announcing the names.

The names were in alphabetical order so I was having my mind on that . My heart started pounding as he was about to reach letter (p) , but in a flow he announced my name PRASHANT THAKUR . I got delighted and started focusing on my PPDT.  At the end we 35 only qualified the written. I was pretty much amazed that instead of having such an easy test many could not crack it down, may be due to the time constraint.

spot_img

Then they made 3 groups for the PPDT . In my group there were  12 guys. The PPDT picture was a bit strange as there was a terrorist kind of creature in that. I don’t know why I  chose to make a normal story of a student preparing for exams and relaxing  in hills . in the GD  I got to know after hearing all other candidates story that mine is totally different and I can’t take much part in the discussion .The other candidates there made story on defence operation or about some officer etc. so what I did is that I collected imp. Points from each one’s story and started putting emphasis on making a collective story as my group was nice so they gave assent to that and in that way I controlled  50 % of the discussion.

Everyone was giving assent to my suggestion of taking points from each one’s story ,I elaborated their points by adding my ideas too. In the end, the officer asked us to make a common story . we nominated one guy from our group ( who got recommended later on ). He started the story with his own points and that’s why the officer  interrupted him and asked the whole group that is it his story or the group story , we said the group story and also said  that he would add the common points  in between. This thing was important because the officer was just trying to see that do we have faith on our chosen fellow  or not .

After hearing that the officer  sent us outside. I was pretty much sure of my selection. My chest number for the GD was  14 . In 5 mins the result came and the officer  announced my chest number in the first go . I was happy and started anticipating my next step.  6 out of 12 got through  for the next FSB procedure.

The whole day went very well for me, I was happy that my whole effort didn’t go in vain. Then they  did our biometric and told us to look on the site for the FSB date. The next day I came to my hometown again and started introspecting about my mistakes of previous AFSB at Mysore. Friends only thing which will save you in ssbs  is introspection. I analysed that myself description wasn’t up to my personality last time. So I took guidance from a very nice person ( Sanjeev Bhaiya ) whom I met in AFSB Mysore ( He has got recommended from diff. ssb’s thrice ) .From his experience he gave me valuable advice to be just myself .

The only thing I would suggest u guys is that whatever u think about something whether it is good or not , say or write only that as an instance if in WAT a word comes WOMAN then whatever comes in ur mind as a first thought put up that only there ,  In my mind there came attraction , so I made a sentence like that only. Hence, with a changed view for the ssb this time I went.

On 7th of Feb, my reporting was there at coast guard selection board at 1 pm. I reached there timely with all my luggage. They again checked  our documents.

After that they allotted us our rooms and bedding. In coast guard u have an option of residing outside the board also so if anyone resides in Delhi only or wants to reside at some relatives place is free to do that. In FSB I made my first friend Akarsh , a very nice fun loving guy, we chose to reside in the same room. The next day we had our psychology test and in the morning they gave us our chest nos. I got 23 chest number. I don’t know the moment I got that chest number I started feeling lucky. I told my fellow friends that guys  now am lucky and u will see that on the of conference I would be standing in front of u with recommendation. They started laughing and I also amused. For psychology, they took us in a theater room.

In my TAT I made simple and real type of stories. The only suggestion for TAT is that make simple , happy  and whatever u see in the picture stories. Even if there is some negativity try to mould that negativity in your story like if u see some robbery then put  up a simple tactical solution for stopping the robbery . IN WAT I made sentences on the very first thought came into my mind whether it is wrong , negative, positive, foolish, anything which came in mind first. If u find it difficult to put up your original idea by thinking that it is vulgar or something then u can mould your sentence but don’t mould the thought.

In SRTs I did only 40 but again the original ideas  according to my capacity and knowledge. One incident happened there with me is that after the SRTs I forgot to submit the SRT booklet WhIch I gave after my SD. The officer there scolded me for that and noted my chest number too. One guy there  tried to intimidate by saying that they have noted your chest number and now u r screwed , but I maintained my temper and again said to him in a amusing manner that on conference I would be there in front of u standing robustly. After lunch some people were having there GTO’s but my group was free. So I chilled and prepared some G.K .

The next day I had my interview after lunch with the president of the board . I prepared myself again , got dressed in a robust manner and sat with  other candidates waiting for interviews. I had to wait around 3 hours for my interview call. When they called I was exhausted of waiting but still maintained my decorum and entered the room. The interviewer was a great personality of 6 feet height and well dressed in a suit. I said namashkar sir and greeted him , he asked me to take my seat.

My interview went for around 45 mins and he asked me about my family, friends , my hobbies ,where I hail from, my education background. My current job profile ( I work as a teacher in my Father’s school ).He screwed me in physics ,Bio, current affairs but I politely tried to give those answers I knew and said I don’t know to those I didn’t know. He asked  me –

Why I want to join this ?

Me- for good pays and allowances.

But there are other jobs also having good pays and allowances ?

Me- sir the kind of personality I want to see in me in the coming future suits this job that’s why .

he asked me an SRT to which I gave my thought. He asked me more about my routine in working days and on Sundays. He asked about my life in Himachal and why I went to Himachal after mt 12th from Delhi. So overall my interview was nice ( means average 😉  ).

oir test and ppdt

Next day I was having my GTO’s- in which first we discussed on the topic of the reason behind increase in crime related to women , the next Gd was on the topic India as an emerging superpower. I didn’t say too much in both the GDs because from my past experience at Mysore AFSB , barking like dogs in GDs  doesn’t fetch that much , so I spoke little but gave relevant points and facts. In the first topic related to women the whole group went against me  when I said that media and this internet has also paid a share in this because as we all know that rate of watching porn in India is at the peak.

There was a guy who even shouted at me that watching porn doesn’t mean the guy is a rapist . I gave him a practical reply to which nobody could contradict and I guess the GTO noted my point. The next was group planning exercise which went fine, so my buddies always be free to express your ideas but be ready to defend them with a proper conscience also.  Then was the lecturette which I spoke fluently and  everyone was saying that it was the best among us.

Next day I was free and went to see my friend at Connaught place. On Friday our conference was there. Though one the first day I was pretty much confident about my recommendation but coming through all the procedure and few weird instances , I was then neutralised and was ready to face the consequences.

When the Navik sir called my chest number for conference my heart started pounding and as I entered the room and said may I come in , the president told me to wait for few moments more. I could not understand That gesture may be they were talking about me. Then they called me and told me to have my seat and asked me-

So Prashant what is the most cheerful thing of this morning ?

Me -Sir , my conference.

So tell me Prashant what u will do to liberalise the stress on students who prepare for IITjee ?

Me- I told them about the current govt. scheme of making up 12th percentage  in IIT Jee evaluation, and as my thought I told them that 10th  weightage also should be added to it .

So Prashant u r a teacher, do your students like u and if they like u why do they like u ?

Sir off course they like me because I always tell some stories to them related to the topic and my experiences too.

So what story did u tell them lately ?

Sir there are some students who are preparing for NDA and as I went to afsb Mysore recently so I shared my whole experience with them , the mistakes I did there , the things I learnt there.

Ok Prashant thank you and good luck.

Then we all waited inside a room, till around 4 o clock the conference went . the officer came after  few minutes gave an inspiring speech ( blah blah blah hehehe ) . then he started the chest numbers , the whole 5-day procedure was going in my mind and as the officer said 21 my heart started pounding more but god wants that and chest number 23 came and I stood called my name and stood by my fellow mates for coast guard. After that the friends congratulated me and also amused me by saying – tu saaale bada confident tha pehle din se – well done yar )and I said thanks to them.

So my friends this was my whole experience . at the end I would say just be confident and sochke jao ki iss bar to hona hi he recommend and work for that , prepare urself in ur own way, take guidance from people u think are relevant. At the end I would like to murmur few words which always inspired me through – kaash har hindustaani ke dil me jalti hui lou ko parr lag jayen orr us lou ki parvaz se sara jahan roshan ho jaye – APJ Abdul Kalam. Thanks.

Meet Capt Simratpal Singh, First Sikh To Serve US Army With Beard & Turban

0
Capt Simratpal Singh

A Sikh U.S. Army captain has been granted a long-term religious accommodation to wear a beard, turban and uncut hair in uniform, a decision supporters hailed on Friday as a landmark that could help other religious Sikhs to serve in the military.

Captain Simratpal Singh received the accommodation in a memorandum from Assistant Army Secretary Debra Wada dated March 30. The memo spelled out certain limitations and said the Army was working to develop uniform standards for soldiers who receive such waivers.

The accommodation for Singh is the first for an active-duty Sikh soldier since the Pentagon took steps two years ago to give individual troops greater latitude to wear turbans, head scarfs, yarmulke and tattoos as part of their religion.

The Pentagon’s move sought to make it easier for Muslims, Sikhs, Jews, Wiccans and others to follow the tenets of their faith while serving in the U.S. military. But advocacy groups say the process remains difficult.

The accommodation for Singh, a West Point graduate and Army Ranger, was granted only after he sued to prevent the service from requiring him to undergo extensive testing to ensure that his beard and hair did not interfere with his helmet or gas mask.Capt Simratpal Singh

Even as his court case was pending, Singh passed a routine gas mask test with his unit. In barring the extensive testing, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell said it made little sense since 100,000 soldiers had been allowed beards for medical reasons.

Advocates say Singh is the first active duty Sikh soldier to be permitted to begin wearing a turban, long hair and beard even though he had previously served without them. Singh followed Army grooming standards when he entered the military academy at West Point but regretted it and sought an accommodation last year.

“My faith … is an integral part of who I am. I am thankful that I no longer have to make the choice between faith and service to our nation,” Singh said in a statement issued by the Sikh Coalition.

Amandeep Sidhu, one of Singh’s attorneys with McDermott Will & Emery, called the Army decision “a step in the right direction” but added “we are not satisfied with the U.S. military’s arduous, piecemeal approach to this issue, which forces all observant Sikhs to seek individual religious accommodations.”

Singh’s legal team also filed a federal lawsuit this week on behalf of three other Sikh service members seeking a religious accommodation.

In the context of the SSB (Services Selection Board) interview, “WAT” stands for “Word Association Test.” The Word Association Test is a psychological tool used to assess a candidate’s personality traits and thought process. It is part of the Psychological Tests conducted during the SSB interview, which is the selection process for candidates aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces.

During the Word Association Test, the candidate is presented with a series of words, one after another, and is required to respond with the first word or phrase that comes to mind upon hearing each word. The responses are spontaneous and should be brief. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the candidate’s response patterns, thought clarity, and associative thinking.

The Word Association Test aims to assess various aspects of a candidate’s personality, such as their level of intelligence, emotional stability, leadership qualities, social adaptability, and general awareness. It helps the assessors understand the candidate’s subconscious attitudes and tendencies.

The responses given by the candidates are analyzed by the assessors, who evaluate them based on predefined criteria and their understanding of the desired qualities for the armed forces. The assessors look for positive qualities such as initiative, confidence, positive attitude, teamwork, adaptability, and determination.
