Recommended In First Attempt For Indian Navy

Hi guys my name is Harsha and I am from Bangalore. In my family, no one is from defense background and it was because of my interest that I applied for SSC in Navy. Initially, I had thought that SSB was very easy to crack as I hadn’t heard from many people about the different procedures that an SSB interview has. As everyone does, I started going to many sites on google and searching for different books available. One fine day I got this book written by Cdr. Natarajan sir and went on to order it online. Later on I got the book home and went on to read the book and started preparing for it. Only when I started reading that I realized the real depth of the ssb. Slowly, I started digging deep into the procedure and I realized that there were a lot of things I had to perfect on. I started reading newspapers and started watching news channel. Not that I was not watching before but this time I was watching it with the intent to remember it as well for the interview. Soon things started getting little complicated for me. I had a thought that the book wasn’t alone enough because it only covered one aspect but a lot had to be covered. Then I started to look for coaching classes and I finally landed with the video tutorials made by Cdr. Natarajan sir. It was good and I learned a lot from it as well. After all the preparation I started going through different experience from ssb recommended candidates telling their experiences and also I used to get freaked out looking at the selection rates as I thought that it was highly unlikely I would get recommended. Finally the day came when I had to go to Vishakhapatnam and I boarded the train. The whole train journey I was thinking what to answer in the interview and how the whole process is going to be like. I was accompanied by my Dad to Vishakhapatnam. He kept on telling me the whole way that it is going to be fine if you don’t make it, it’s okay but I was the one who was tensed all the time.

Screening

Finally after the stay, the First day had come and I was attending the aptitude. I had only attended 30 out of 50 and second also I attended only 40 out of 50. During my PPDT narration, I could not complete the whole story at all and I could only complete 3-4 lines of it as the officer told next. I was a bit nervous as I could not complete the story. I was intensely listening to other’s story and as soon as the narration was over I started the discussion and told about number of characters etc.  Mostly everyone agreed. Then I suggested the story of one particular chest no. to be the common story as the theme was good. Soon the discussion started and I also took part in the discussion. We modified the story somewhat and were about to reach a consensus when we were asked to go out. Finally, at the end of the day, I was one of the 24 who were screened in.

Psychology

The next day was psychology test which I did very well. I had understood the concept very well from the book and videos, so I was able to conceive stories quickly. WAT was good as I had practiced a lot to write short sentences from the book. Several words were same from the book so that all helped. I could complete about 49 WAT. SRT was quite simple. I had practiced well and hence I could perform. The idea of writing full action is important I suppose. There were at least 15 SRT which were same from the book itself and the others were somewhat similar. Some situations were repeated and my responses were also more or less same. My SD was normal and was corrected by Natarajan Sir so I just remembered it and wrote it there.

GTO

The 3rd & 4th day was the GTO days. The GTO days were very special for me as I knew I had performed well in Psychology. I did contribute during both the GD and GPE. I kept in mind all the points while writing the GPE answers as explained by Natarajan sir in his video. PGT and HGT was complete fun as I was able to spot each and every solution based on the concept of cantilever explained in the video. Like most, even I felt that worried initially if I will be able to crack these physical tasks but I sailed smoothly. My command task was initially of middle level but as I went on cracking it, the GTO removed some helping material and made the task difficult but I continued with it till such point that I was fixed. Finally, I thought I have done fairly well in GTO also. The GTO did ask me I have attended some coaching.

Interview

Coming to my interview, I was very upset with the way I performed with my interview as it was my first interview. I was literally asked to go out as he got to know that I was very nervous. I was called in again and I went through the entire process. I was very composed this time and answered all the questions fairly well. I could not answer some of the questions in the GK section. Finally, after 4 days of grueling tests, I had come to the conference day. I had a very deep confidence in my mind that I would get recommended.  I was asked some of the questions which I could not answer during the interview. I was prepared for it.  I was fairly confident during the conference unlike the interview.

At last, the final moment arrived. One officer came to addressed the crowd and announce the result and I was the only one cleared. Omg!!! It was such a feeling I cannot explain with words. Finally I went on to clear medicals and now waiting for my call letter. In the end, I would say, if you prepare well from the book and the video, there is no need to go for any coaching.

Thank you

Read How Indian Soldier Chandu Survived Torture In Pakistan

0
CHANDU CHOUHAN

It was a day after the Indian Army’s special commandos carried out the surgical strike in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir that 22-year-old jawan Chandu Babulal Chouhan inadvertently crossed the LoC.

Chandu Chouhan was captured by Pakistan Rangers. For the next four months, Chandu Chouhan was beaten, tortured and almost killed.

Chandu Chouhan was held captive by an enemy army. He was continuously tortured, beaten, ill treated and kept without food for many days at a stretch. But, the Indian soldier survived.

Chandu was saved by providence and the government opened all the back channels to ensure his return on January 21 this year. Chandu returned home in Maharashtra to celebrate Holi with family.

For the first time since his return, Chandu Chouhan spoke to media when he shared his ordeal in Pakistan with India Today. The story of an incredible survival is reproduced here in 15 points:

HOW CHANDU CHOUHAN SURVIVED PAKISTANI TORTURE
  1. Chandu explained that it was the night of September 29 last year and he was patrolling on the LoC. Chandu mistakenly ventured into the area controlled by Pakistan on the other side of the LoC. immediately three Pakistani Rangers captured him.
  2. Pakistani Rangers took away Chandu’s rifle. He was beaten black and blue with no one asking any question about anything. This continued till he started bleeding profusely. Then one of the Pakistani soldiers asked his co-trooper to shoot Chandu. The other Ranger agreed and aimed at Chandu with his rifle. He cocked his gun and was about to fire when the third Pakistan Ranger stopped him from killing Chandu.
  3. The three Pakistani Rangers agreed to take a final call about killing him later on. They covered Chandu’s face and whisked him away to some unknown location. Here, Chandu was interrogated. Chandu was asked whether he had come for the assault. Did he enter to kill? Was he part of the surgical strike team? Interestingly, when Pakistan Rangers were posing these questions to Chandu, the country’s leaders refuted the reports of surgical strike by Indian Army’s special commandos.
  4. Chandu kept telling his interrogators that he crossed the LoC by mistake. He stood by his word even though they kept torturing him and threatened to kill him. The threat was repeated so many times that Chandu believed that he would be shot dead any moment. He believed that there was no hope to go back alive from their captivity. Questions about surgical strike continued during the interrogation.
  5. Chandu was taken to different locations by road during his long interrogation and torture. These were short journeys, not of more than two hours at one stretch. Chandu recalls hearing sound of some other vehicles following the one he was transported from one place to other. Chandu does not remember the people who interrogated him as their faces were always covered except for their eyes.
  6. Chandu was kept in small room having high ceiling. The room did not have a fan. There was no light and no ventilation. His room was stinky as he was made to relieve himself inside the room. At night, Chandu heard voices of other people held captive in other rooms. The screams would echo as the captives were tortured. Chandu heard people shouting, crying and sometimes singing loudly.
  7. Chandu told India Today that he too cried a lot and shouted wildly. Chandu would sing National Anthem loudly to keep himself motivated. But, whenever he sang National Anthem, someone from the Pakistani side would come to him asking to stop singing. Chandu continued to defy his captors, he said.
  8. During his first interrogation after being caught by the Pakistani Rangers, Chandu misled his captors saying that he was alone in his family. But as the news flashed on Indian TV channels and media showed details of his family revealing that even Chandu’s brother worked for Indian Army, his torture increased.
  9. Chandu was tied by a rope upside down and was beaten by thick rubber belts as the Pakistanis came to know about his family. Chandu says that during the four months in captivity there was not a single day when he was not beaten up by Pakistanis. Chandu would not be given food for days at a stretch. He used to bang his head on the wall and scream as loud as he could. Chandu says that he was injected some drugs that made him semiconscious.
  10. After initial days of his torture, Chandu says, he became accustomed to their techniques and routine. Chandu would often challenge the Pakistanis to beat him up with all their strength. He would shout back at Pakistanis while he was being beaten and tortured using expletives that he knew. The sense of belongingness to India and the flair of patriotism kept him going and gave strength to bear all the torture, Chandu told India Today.
  11. There were several emotional moments for Chandu, who would often fall into the spells of his childhood memories. In the captivity, Chandu felt alone, recollected incidents from his childhood, his friends, schools, granny, grandfather and family. Revisiting olden days brought smiles on Chandu’s face and helped him forget, momentarily, the pain that he suffered at the enemy’s hands. Chandu recited Ganesha aarti or sang bollywood songs or pray to the almighty.
  12. Chandu even started doing ‘absurd’ things in Pakistan’s captivity. He would kill mosquitoes by clapping turning it into a game. Later, he would catch the mosquitoes and talk to them placing the blood-suckers between his palms. Speaking to India Today, Chandu said, so much of drugs were injected into his body that even now he senses stinky burps while having food. His feet and waist still pain badly.
  13. Tired with the monotonous answers by Chandu Chouhan, Pakistani Rangers forced him to go several tests administering him drugs that made him lose consciousness. He was made to sleep on a stretcher as wires were attached to his body. Chandu thinks he was forced to undergo narco and polygraph tests.
  14. Chandu told India Today that Pakistani army officers talked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, he refused to divulge the details saying that the content and import of the conversation have been conveyed to Indian Army authorities.
  15. Chandu underwent a series of counseling sessions after he returned from Pakistan. He was advised to enjoy life and not to think about the past. Before Chandu took a dramatic turn on September 29, his family had arranged for his wedding to a local girl in Maharashtra’s Pune district. The good news for him is that the girl is eagerly waiting to marry him and spend rest of her life with a ‘hero’.

Indian Army Sets Strict Rules; Bans Promotions For Obese/Unfit Soldiers And Officers

0

With a number of officers and men looking out of shape in their uniforms and failing in physical tests, the Indian Army has waged a war against obesity in the force warning that such personnel would miss out on promotion, foreign postings and career enhancement courses in the force.

As per the new policy issued by Army last week on reducing obesity in the force, there would no place to hide for obese officers and men as senior officers have been granted powers to carry out random checks during their visits and medically downgrade such people after a thorough check up.

Indian Army New Rules To Fight Obesity

  1. “We don’t want people to look shabby due to obesity and that is why, this policy aimed at cutting down waist and fat bellies has been issued after taking inputs from all the command headquarters,” a senior Army officer told Mail Today here.
  2. “We don’t want our men to suffer from life style diseases caused due to obesity and anyways, such men would also impact operational effectiveness of men in field areas also,” they said. The policy letter, accessed by Mail Today, mentions that the increased weight beyond the acceptable limits would also be mentioned in the annual confidential records of the officers as their front and side-on pictures would be attached with the service documents by the senior officers.
  3. Moreover, Commanding officers have now been given powers to refer officers to military hospitals, if they feel that any officer or jawan is looking obese or over-weight
  4. “Personnel, who are otherwise in shape 1 (medically fit) but are found to be overweight at the time of interview (for appointment at important posts) are liable to be graded as rejected at the discretion of the screening committee and appropriate ban can be imposed on them till they regain their shape,” Army officers said. As per the policy, all directorates involved in deployment of officers for foreign postings have to make sure that no overweight officer is sent there.Eagle Squadron 2
  5. “The commanding officer would be responsible for all personnel under his command in ensuring that no individual, who is obese, is permitted to go abroad unless he is in a specifically-exempted category, battle casualties or war wounded,” the policy states.
  6. The force is coming down heavily on obese officers who are getting re-employed in Army after retirement. Such officers are given not many important tasks but many persons holding such offices don’t care about maintaining fitness, sources said.
  7. “Officers who are obese will not be granted re-employment in the Army. Applications for re-employment will be accompanied by a certificate from the officer concerned that the individual is not 10 per cent over his weight and in absence of such a certificate, the application would be rejected,” the policy states.
  8. The Army is also working to keep such over-weight persons away from award ceremonies. “Personnel who are obese will be debarred from receiving unit citation or escorting recipients who have to receive awards. In case of such officers or JCOs, the next senior fit person would receive those awards,” the policy said. However, the weight restriction would not be applicable on persons receiving gallantry awards. For awarding distinguished service awards, Army headquarters has clearly stated that recommendations for such officers would not be initiated unless they are in the exempt category.

Recommended Twice In 7th and 8th Attempt For Indian Army

Recommended Twice In 7th and 8th Attempt For Indian Army

From past few years I have been following and reading success stories here on SSBCrack and I feel elated to write my own success story this time.  Before attending SSB interview,  SSBCrack definitely helped me know about ssb and various tests there at ssb interview better and through success stories came to know about the process much better and for notifications about various entries SSBCrack helped a lot I think the quality of articles on SSBCrack is what makes it one of best ssb blogs.

Hello, folks, this is Jagbir Singh, from a small village – Nangal (Abiana) with a population of around 700 in Ropar district of Punjab nd would be soon first army officer from not only my family, EME, my relatives, my village but around 20 villages in that area. I m a son of retired JCO Nb Sub Gobinder Singh who served in CorpEME, Indian Army for 28 years. I have lived most part of my life in army cantonments across the country like Jammu, Suratgarh(Rajasthan), Ranchi(Jharkhand), Jhansi(UP), Udhampur(J&K) and studied in various Army Schools there and after father’s retirement did 10th to 12th from Ropar itself. So the passion to join Indian army. The finest profession on earth…as an officer has been there right from childhood and I prepared myself and my mind according to that. In this article, I would not waste your time as to what ssb interview is or various tests in ssb or what to do nd not to do there but i would only say that it is fairest selection system on earth and rather I would share my journey from my 1st to 8th ssb attempt because that has been the toughest period for me to go through those Failures at ssb again and again and still NOT GIVING UP and having that self-belief that I will achieve it someday until I made it in 7th and 8th Attempt nd proved that YES, I HAVE IT IN ME.

My journey started 2011 when I gave NDA exam in 2011 and again gave NDA exam in 2012 but failed both times due to lack of preparation and exposure to such exams and having scored average percentage (70%) in 12th class meant that I would not get ssb call for army TES entry. So I accordingly prepared for AIEEE exam and got admission into GURU NANAK DEV ENGINEERING COLLEGE , LUDHIANA, one of the oldest engineering colleges of northern India and Punjab and opted for mechanical engineering because I knew that after B Tech, I would get opportunity to try for army and there I would like to go into mechanical field. It was in this college only that I opted for NCC and did 2 years of NCC in army wing and gained C certificate because I knew that it would help me in getting  SSB call also. So, my first Ssb interview call came when I got selected through campus interview for pre-final year students held at our college for UES 25  and also I got selected for UES Navy through campus interview for final year students held at another college. So, I got call for 2 ssb interviews in January 2016 at Bhopal but due to lack of confidence in speaking English and few mistakes that I made in screening, I got screened out both times. After that came back to college nd continued with studies nd after passing out from college gave ssb for SSC TECH 47 at Allahabad in June 2016 but again got screened out. Very sad and low on confidence, came back home nd analyzed my first 3 Attempts ,worked on them where I might have gone wrong and after one month in July 2016 gave Ssb for NCC 40 at Kapurthala got screened in but this time got conference out and in same month gave Afcat ssb but got conference out again. Now after that got Ssb call for SSC TECH 48 in Dec 2016 at Allahabad but got screened out and was disappointed as SSB attempts were increasing without good results but I would say that through those 6 Attempts I gained something every time and that made me stronger mentally nd that attitude to never give up came from there only and other motivation to never give up also came from kargil war hero Capt Vikram Batra who I heard cleared his in 14th attempt and whenever I thought of him the zeal to keep moving forward nd not giving up increased. Although, I knew from very first attempt at ssb  that I have it in me, I had that Self-belief in me, it was just a matter of performing at that point of time at ssb.

Also, it was at this point of time in Dec 2016 when I met Ankitpal Singh, my mentor, at Ludhiana, who was B. Tech. graduate from our college nd was also Recommended 4 times for Army, Navy and air force but couldn’t join due to colour blindness but now helps aspiring candidates and attended his 1 week workshop for personality development and truly gained a lot there, self-confidence increased nd improved on my decision making abilities and did a lot of self introspection nd also got to know about my strengths nd weaknesses, the confidence doubled after that and I was ready to rock in my 7th attempt for NCC 41 Course of Indian Army at Allahabad and yes the hardwork, persistence and patience of past finally paid off on 9 Jan 2017. Reported on 5th Jan 2017.Out of 136 who reported, 28 got screened in nd finally 2 got Recommended.

When my Chest no. 13 was announced by President of 14 Ssb ALLAHABAD ,I was in tears of joy , because the whole movie of all Ssb Attempts flashed through my eyes, the picture of parents giving their never ending support and their patience and belief in me through all those failures, giving strength to me. After results, fellow candidates congratulated us and after that I called my father first and then Ankitpal sir nd broke the good news and emotions were running very high at that point of time. That has by far been the proudest moment for me and when I look back at all those failures, I feel happy that I didn’t give up nd I m a strong person than before.recommended ssb

Again, on 7 March 2017 I got Recommended in 8th Attempt for TGC 125 Course of Indian Army, where 374 reported and 30 were screened in and finally 7 got Recommended including me.

Recently, I also got into the Merit list of NCC 41 COURSE and would be joining OTA CHENNAI in April and also would be eagerly waiting for merit list of TGC 125 course for getting into IMA Dehradun for permanent commission in Indian army.
At last , would like to thank my parents , my friends , college mates, teachers, my mentor without them it would never have been possible, I would sign off by saying that ….Have self-belief in your abilities and know yourself better than anyone else and never ever, never ever give up on your dreams…dream big…If you can dream it… then you can achieve it… Have patience and work in the right direction to achieve your aim.
Thanks SSBCrack for giving this opportunity.
