0
snake race ssb

Hello, Warriors. Snake race is an outdoor group task which is also known as Group Obstacle Race. All candidates are divided into four groups of about 8-10 candidates. Know more about the Group Obstacle Race / Snake Race here.

The objective of conducting Snake Race is to check both mental and physical power of candidates. The evaluation of a candidate of team work is also assessed.

The rules and procedure of Snake test is as follows:

  • In any condition, snake should not touch the ground.
  • The snake should be held by at least 3 persons at any time.
  • Between the obstacles and start and finish of the race, all members of the group should have held the snake.
  • Never touch the out of bound region on the obstacle.
  • The snake should not be bent or folded and kept straight.
  • Till the last candidate crosses an obstacle, the group is not allowed to move to next obstacle.
  • You can cheer up your members or/and use a war cry like ‘Jai Hind’ or “Valar Morghulis” (IYKWIM).
  • No abusing or shouting at any member at your group.
  • Keep in mind the penalties for violating the rules.

So now that you are well acquainted with the Snake Race, here are some best tips to get through this:

  1. Again, listen to the GTO carefully and follow all the instructions. Period.
  2. As it is a group task, achievement of your group is more important than your individual achievement.
  3. No showing off your individual skills to impress the GTO. Don’t be the one who always try to get a hand with the heavy objects to show the strength off to others. Remember that it’s the mental strength that is assessed at the end of dawn.
  4. In case anyone of the group members breaks the rule, then volunteer to repeat the obstacle according to the rule.snake race ssb
  5. Keep in mind the risks and outcomes of your decisions in tackling the obstacles.
  6. Always volunteer to take responsibility.
  7. Never go for next obstacle until all the group members had crossed the previous one.
  8. Help others in the group in crossing an obstacle.

With these tips in handy and a positive attitude, you can easily clear the snake test.

8 Tips To Write A Better Self Description

0
ssb self description

Hello, Warriors! Self Description Test is conducted on day 2 and Stage II of the selection procedure. It is one among the four psychological tests among TAT, WAT and SRT. Candidate is asked to write five separate paragraphs on each context above the opinion of his parents/guardian, friends, teachers/superiors.

Some of the sample questions in Self Description Test include:

  • What your parents think of you?
  • What your friends think of you?
  • What your teachers think of you?
  • What do you think of yourself?
  • What sort of person you want to become in life?

In Self Description Test, candidates are given 15 minutes time and are asked to write 5 different paragraphs regarding the above-said points. Candidates may take it easy and write everything  that comes to mind, but it should be kept in mind that it is an opportunity to project yourself  and qualities. Points should be honest.

India Making A Secret Nuclear City?

0
indian nuclear city

Hello, Warriors. If recent reports are to be believed, India is building an entire nuclear city in Karnataka to produce thermonuclear weapons.  Yes, you read it right, an entire city!

The top secret facility poised for completion in 2017 would be the subcontinent’s largest military-run complex of nuclear centrifuges.

Among the project’s aims are to expand the government’s nuclear research, to produce fuel for India’s nuclear reactors, and to help power the country’s fleet of new submarines.

The secret city is located in Challakere, nearly 260km from Mysore. The facility might upgrade the country as a nuclear power and unsettle the balance of power in the region.

The government has divulged little about the nuclear facility and made no public promises about how the highly enriched uranium to be produced there would be utilized. As a military facility, it is not open to international inspection and it gives India an upper hand to manufacture nukes.

Download:

The facility aims to give India an extra stockpile of enriched uranium fuel that could be used in new hydrogen bombs, also known as thermonuclear weapons, substantially increasing the explosive force of those in its existing nuclear arsenal.

New Delhi has never published a detailed account of its nuclear arsenal, which it first developed in 1974, and there has been little public notice outside India about the construction at Challakere and its strategic implications.indian nuclear city

India already possesses between 90 and 110 nuclear weapons, as compared to Pakistan’s estimated stockpile of up to 120. China, which borders India to the north, has approximately 260 warheads. China and Pakistan, could see this move as a provocation and they might respond by ratcheting up their own nuclear firepower. Pakistan, in particular, considers itself a military rival, having engaged in four major conflicts with India, as well as frequent border skirmishes. Nuclear war between India and Pakistan is not as unlikely as it may come to our thinking.

This so called “secret” came under the notice of public when The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change approved the Mysore site’s construction in October 2012 as “a project of strategic importance” that would cost nearly $100 million, according to a letter marked “secret,” from the ministry to atomic energy officials that month.

The ambition was (is?) to feed new centrifuges with fuel derived from yellowcake — milled uranium ore — shipped from mines in the village of Jadugoda in India’s north, 1,200 miles away from the Rare Materials Plant, and to draw water from the nearby Krishna Raja Sagar dam.

So, what do you think of this? A good move by India or a secret not well kept?

Hard work always pays.

I, Simranjeet Singh, a student of final year engineering have been a die hard fan of joining esteemed Indian Armed Forces. My only goal was to join the defence forces.I was about to appear for SSB after a long gap of 3 years. Previously I appeared for ssb in NDA(2 times) & TES(1 time) entry.& was conferenced out every time. I thought there was really something missing in me.I started doing introspection & analysed myself. I also joined SSB training Bhilai academy of Retd.Commander Ravikant Soni which was very useful for me.

Here was I in Allahabad for UES-ARMY for my 4th time, but to my surprise I was screened out. I was really shattered.I then considered to be a bad luck & moved on.

Then came my 5th attempt on 23 Jan for UES-NAVY & again I was standing in a SSB(NSB VISAKHAPATNAM).205 people reported ,chest numbers were allotted & I got chest no. 10 & then started the long screening procedure along with distribution of TA to freshers.37 repeaters were there in total & rest freshers.

Download:

DAY 1-

Screening procedure started with 2 OIR tests having 50 questions each. They were too easy & I was able to solve them all before time.(A tip for all- Don’t take unduly stress if you don’t fare well in OIR tests. Just focus on the next test as the next test is which has more weight age.)

Then PPDT it was.

We’re shown a blur picture & I wrote a +ve story on it.Buckle up friends, the fish market was just about to open.

Yes discussion on the story it was.

We were divided into 12 members each group.

Our discussion started according to the trend, yes like a fish market. But soon the offer divided us into 2 groups & then the discussion went well & our group was able to conclude.

Finally, after a long wait of 4 hours, our results came & 40 people were screened in.

I got chest no. 9

We were then made to fill some forms including the important PIQ form(one tip friends-don’t take PIQ form as to be a simple form as it reveals what you are.Fill the form in neat legible handwriting with true details as these forms go to all 3 assessors & you’ll be questioned on the basis of these forms)

Rooms were allotted & we got double Decker beds + a lot of bed bugs.

But the night went easy after a long chat with newly made friends.Recommended For UES Navy From Visakhapatnam

DAY 2-

Psychology tests were conducted.

Here is what I done -I decided to be +ve in all the tests whatever the situation might be.

Tip for all- Write +ve stories displaying your officer like qualities.Don’t go with pre-prepared stories, just write according to what picture shows.

Try to be as much as possible in WAT & show your qualities in the sentences.

In SRT write full reactions by putting yourself in the situation & writing your response according to that.

For SELF DESCRIPTION test go prepared & write that which matches with what you’ve written in PIQ.

My tests went well & I wrote +ve reactions.

Few people had their interviews & rest were allowed to visit the city.

We went to the RK beach, visited INS Kursura museum (the only of its kind in ASIA) & called our homes.

DAY 3

It was the GTO day.

Our GTO was a jolly guy with always a smile on his face & a joke on his lips.

Our group discussion went well.(Tip-Give good valid points & try to be a good listener as well.Give other chances to speak & maintain the decorum of the discussion)

Next was group planning exercise & we did well in that. Our group was able to solve the problem & reached a final solution.

Next was PROGRESSIVE GROUP TASK.

It was just a game of our brains.

In every obstacle I gave good ideas & implemented others ideas too.

(Tip-try to be as cooperative as possible & take the group along with you.

We completed the task in time.

Our GTO was continuously picking us by commenting that we lacked common sense.

Same happened in HALF GROUP TASK.

Next was SNAKE RACE. We decided that I will push others who can’t climb wall & then climb myself.

Finally we won only because of coordination & helping each other.

Usually the days ends with SNAKE RACE but our GTO needed more action & we were taken for INDIVIDUAL OBSTACLE RACE.

We were already panting like dogs after the race.

The IO race started & I was able to perform 7 obstacles only as I was very much exhausted.

(Tip-try to have firm grip in rope obstacles as a petty mistake might hurt you badly.)

After the race we all were like breathless lads gasping for air.

Few people got injured too.

To our relief our tasks ended & we were allowed to visit the city again.

DAY 4-

Rest of the GTO tasks were scheduled for today.

1st was the command task & mine was really a grueling one. While doing it ,GTO kept on firing me with questions & comments along with. Finally I was able to complete it.

The tasks ended with FINAL GROUP TASK which was an exact replica of PROGRESSIVE GROUP TASK.

I was called for interview immediately after the task that too on my GTO dress.

INTERVIEW-

INTERVIEW started formally. But soon I was grilled to the core about my knowledge about INDIAN NAVY.

I was questioned about my previous attempts & answered all the questions honestly.Tip here is to answer the questions with a cool & calm mind by giving only that much of information which has been asked for.My interview lasted only for about 40 mins.

DAY 5 (D DAY-CONFERENCE)

The heartbeats were above the normal.

It was republic day & we were like that I could be the most memorable day of our life-Being recommended on 26th January.

The conference started soon & we  were called in the hall.

There was a long wait before my entrance into the hall. Then I was called in.I was asked routine questions about food, city, accommodation etc.

Then I was asked to describe my city’s visit experience in 5 lines, which I did.

Soon within 2 hours conference was over of our batch.

After 2 hours the officer in crisp white uniform came & gave the motivational address.

Our heartbeats our high.

It was really tense. Then he started calling out the chest numbers of recommended candidates.

The 1st chest no. he called was 9.Yes yes yes.

It was me.Finally I made it.

In succession 3 more nos. were called.

Altogether 4 people were recommended.I was the only one recommended from my group.I was happy like hell but was also sad that many of my friends were about to leave. We were not even allowed to meet them.Soon we were made to fill a lot of forms which took hours.I chose to appear for medicals later.

In short I’d like to conclude with a line that –

Setting a goal, dreaming about it & working for it finally reaps results.

Good bye friends.

Hoping of joining INA after clearing medicals & merit list.

Here’s What’s Special This Republic Day

republic day 2016

Happy Republic Day, Warriors!

The country is celebrating its 67th Republic Day today. One of the biggest highlights this year is that the President of France Francois Hollande will be attending the event as a chief guest amidst unprecedented security in the wake of the attack on Pathankot air force base.

But it will also be one of the most unique parades in recent times. Here are some of the things to look out for as reported by The Indian Express:

  1. Foreign army contingent for the first time ever:

For the first time since 1950, a foreign army contingent will march down the Rajpath during the Republic Day parade. The 35th Infantry Regiment of 7th Armoured Brigade has been practicing for the parade after it participated in an eight-day joint exercise of Indian and French troops from 8 January.

  1. Army dogs to march after 26 years:

One of the major attractions this year which has already grabbed a lot of attention and raised the enthusiasm of people is that Indian Army dogs will march down the Rajpath on Tuesday after 26 long years.

The Army has selected 36 dogs out of total 1,200 Labradors and German Shepherds for the event. These canines are trained in jobs like detection of explosives, guarding, assaulting, etc., and play a vital role in saving lives of the soldiers at various occasions.

  1. Shorter and crispier this time:

The celebration this year will be 25 minute shorter than usual. The duration has been brought down to 90 minutes from 115 minutes, but the format will remain the same.

  1. First time an All-women stunt contingent:

The army jawans performing stunts on bikes are a major attraction during the parade and this year for the first time, an all-women stunt contingent will also be performing during the event. Reportedly, the contingent named ‘Women Daredevils CRPF’ comprising of 120 soldiers will showcase their skill this year.republic day 2016

The last year’s parade saw Chief Guest Barack Obama and Michelle Obama holding umbrellas to protect them from the drizzle at the Republic Day parade event. This year, the VVIP enclosure will have a motorized glass roof so as to protect them from rain and cold weather.

The Delhi Police has also made strict arrangement to ensure security of people in various parts of the city on Tuesday. A specialized Wireless Integrated Public Address (WIPA) system has been set up at 31 crowded places and 13 metro stations. Through this system, the announcements made centrally from a police station will be heard at all desired locations.

Recommended For UES Navy Pilot From SSB Bangalore

0
navy ssb recommended candidate

Hi guys I am Vijayshan Singh, final year student of NIT Bhopal, unsatisfied with the current uninteresting work culture I decided to resume my old dream of joining forces, applied for UES Navy pilot, cleared first round, call letter received on 7th December, left GATE preparation in the midst, left for Bangalore to report on 11th Jan and bang thought I made a big mistake seeing the number of candidates who reported it was 219! Keeping some confidence in myself continued my journey. Next day 12th Jan screening started, we were shown a picture in which a woman was looking out of a balcony to a car. I made a story that she is a mechanical engineer and she is doing a project on movement of cars, many guys wrote very negative and strange stories which I should not discuss because it may affect your decision making while attempting the same. Then the result was announced after 3 hours of senseless waiting at around 3 pm. One by one chest numbers were announced, 11, 104 ….. random sequence after 50 candidates got their chest numbers I thought I did something wrong and not going to make it, but wait the story does not end there they went to 56 then the commander shouted 114 yes it was me 1st person to get screened in , it was the weirdest feeling ever, what to do be sad, be happy, l cherished the moment and got my chest number. The accommodation had 8 beds per room so I was given a separate room of my own with 7 empty beds,  but mingled with guys really fast the same night I got 5 guys in room playing carom ! I don’t know what guys loved my humor or liveliness but the number grew and caretaker scolded me for causing too much chaos and noise. Next day was psychology tests,  I practiced few things at home when I reached there I started writing stories on my friends which were close to every detail. I attempted 43 SRTs because I was trying to be precise and thoughtful and 60 WATS because I made factual sentences and didn’t left any word. We were free in the noon, had average mess food, went to room and discovered we can play volleyball too and joined the group had fun. Many people were in the room trying to cook their responses and fool assessors not having fun but in the end the guys who got recommended were genuine.

Next day I had my interview wore my lucky black tie given by my dad who he use to wear in kumaon regiment wore a shabby old coat, guys made fun of me but it was okay I made fun of them already. The interviewer started with normal question told me to describe your journey in 5 sentences from Bhopal to Bangalore.  Then my name etc and after he started interview I was at ease and was responding everything point to point and truth, he asked tremendous details like what my grandfather did in BHEL etc. He mainly concentrated on my family and ability to plan. I forgot many questions in rapid fire I humbly asked him to repeat and sometimes asked him to give me 1 minute to think for the answers because replying before thinking can backfire. He was very supportive and I aced my interview.

Download:

Next my GTO started had good GDs then average GPE, in PGT in suggested ideas and helped everyone, similar in HGT and FGT, in snake race we decided that I’ll be the first to lead and climb obstacles and everyone would support me, everyone agreed had best race, I made our war cry the funniest even GTO laughed  I proposed “BAHUBALI” as our war cry and it was really fun shouting bahubali  in 12 ssb Bangalore. In Individual obstacles I was sure I can do more that 7 easily but made a big blunder as GTO sounded whistle I stood in front of him not in front of the obstacle because I didn’t listen to his briefing carefully, then I improvised started jumping in front of him he was like what is he trying to do, I jumped and jumped and jumped as he whistled again I ran and jumped over the screen jump obstacle to negate previous blunder, as I attempted tiger jump I injured myself and after  obstacles I started walking since the time was over, but GTO called me and said attempt the 2 ditch jump that is obstacle number 8, he saw the blood but still, I went and again did a blunder held rope from red area he shouted again I made a blunder holding it from front then he shouted “bloody run and hold” I ran held rope crossed in one attempt.  In command task I pitched in ideas before the actual task so that everyone would can complete it because I did coaching for 8 days. Everyone was influenced and I was called 4 times in a group of 7. One guy who called me didn’t ordered anything and ordered me to jump and sit on the next pole like stand, I followed orders and fell 2 times GTO was laughing I was like see the blood in my hand doing IO ! Well in the end, I whispered him the idea he completed his task.

navy ssb recommended candidate
I am chest No. 5

In my lecturette as I was last 57, I forgot to pick up the card for topics, but my good friend poked me to pick the card. I got less time to prepare, I chose “smart cities can support modern growth or not” I mentioned about modi’s smart city campaign and the GTO was flattered.
GTO ended happily.

Next day was conference I knew everything is sealed and I have been myself past these 4 days and had lot of fun with my friends. I was confident but still the butterfly in the stomach was not calm. I wore my black tie and same coat went to conference, they asked about stay, rate yourself etc, and thank you seeing everyone in their uniform was the best experience.
After an hour the results were announced again this time, my chest number was called around  3rd last, my friend 56 also got recommended so does 51 and so does 13 and all….:P.  Eleven of us got recommended which is a record this year at 12 SSB.
