Why SSB Is A Different Interview Technique

SSB is the interview technique that is framed to access the entire personality of the candidate. It is always suggested to every emerging aspirant to appear in SSB interview ones in his lifetime in order to experience and check your calibre and know how to be a perfect man. SSB conducts the interview, which is always termed as different from other interview techniques that always attracts several aspiring youth.

Several Armed Forces aspirants appear in the SSB by either qualifying competitive exam or by direct entries. There are some differences between the normal interview schedule and SSB. These differences will make you aware of why Armed Forces select the best amongst the crowds.

  1. The Longest Interview Schedule – The interview schedule of the SSB interview is minimum 5 days (including screening) that makes it different and above all. Other interviews of government authorities or private firms last for a day or two. But SSB analyses the entire personality of the candidate in a schedule of 5 days and sums up the qualities of the candidates.
  2. Checks The Entire Personality Of The Candidate – The SSB interview checks the candidate’s mentality, actions and skills to eradicate all chances of misinterpretations. The entire theory of the SSB resides on the philosophy of “Mansa, Vachna and Karma”. The board call for the genuine.
  3. Gives You Unmatched Experience And Facilities – The facilities and experience of interacting with other candidates and performing activities like an officer are only provided in the SSB interview schedule. The SSB not only examines the personality of the candidates, but also gives a lifetime experience and knowledge to the aspirants.
  4. Productive Competition Level – The competition level in SSB is very productive and high level as compared to the competition observed in other interviews. A candidate faces competition to a good level in SSB, which is rarely found in other interviews.
  5. Gives You The Guarantee Of Adventurous Life Ahead – The SSB recommends the candidates to lead the soldiers and secure the nations. The officers have to perform diverse duties and have to go through various daily duties which is not seen in other jobs. Those who don’t want a desk job has to the turn toward SSB and get yourself into the Armed Forces.

Conclusion:

The Armed Forces is not just a profession, it is a way of life. The level of experience and dare in the Armed Forces is incomparable. The youth has to opt Armed Forces as a good profession opportunity and let their talent get into the use of the nation. The youth must appear and attend the SSB and learn the difference between other jobs and Armed Forces.

SSB is not just an interview opportunity, but teaches a lot and gives a chance to a person to learn the shortcomings of the candidates. The above points will make you clear about why a person should attend the SSB and what he can learn from the SSB schedule. So all aspirants, work hard, prepare well and make it a life time achievement.

8 Harsh Truths About Army Life Nobody Tells You

Life In The Indian Army

For the First Time, NSG To March in the 2017 Republic Day Parade

0
nsg featured

For the first time, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos may march down the Rajpath in full armed gear during the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

Following this, the National Security Guard (NSG) headquarters has begun preparations to choose a contingent of about 60 commandos to showcase its prowess and commando-style fast march past.

This would be the first time when the federal contingency force would participate in the Republic Day events by marching down Rajpath. The first clearances have been issued and hopefully, the NSG contingent will march.

Till now, the troops of Army’s Para Special Forces were the only commando force to take part in the Rajpath during the January 26 celebrations.

nsg

Once at Rajpath, the ‘black cats’ will reflect a dashing sheen to the parade as they will be dressed in their trademark black overalls, balaclava headgear and special assault rifles MP-5 along with the iconic commando dagger.

The NSG contingent is expected to include commands from both the army and paramilitary-based units of the force, stationed at their garrison in Manesar near here.

Apart from NSG, CRPF’s anti-riot unit, Rapid Action Force, is also likely to be part of January 26 event where Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, will be the chief guest.

However, it is expected that like last year, some regular paramilitary contingents may not be included this time too.

While the iconic BSF camel and band contingent has been given a go-ahead for inclusion in the parade that straddles down from the citadel of power at Raisina hills to the 17th century-built monument Red Fort, the contingent of border guarding Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) may miss the show.

While the CRPF’s special anti-riot unit RAF and Central Industrial Security Force contingents have been included, the inclusion of Indo-Tibetan Border Polices’ squad is still uncertain and SSB may be a no show.

The NSG, raised in 1984, is the federal force to undertake counter-terror and counter-hijack operations across the country and till now it was associated with the Republic Day celebrations by way of providing its crack teams for special combat deployment around the parade route and sanitising it by the deployment of snipers.

About 300 NSG commandoes were deployed to neutralise terrorists in the Pathankot airbase this January. They were also effectively used during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack in 2008.

Squadron Leader Shikha Pandey: The Unsung Officer of the Indian Women Cricket Team

How many of us know about Sachin Tendulkar’s joining of Air Force? And about MS Dhoni’s joining the Army? The odds are, probably all of us. But all this time, what we fail to realise is that one of the Squadron Leaders of the Indian Air Force has been playing for the national women cricket team. Readers, introducing you to Squadron Leader Shikha Pandey, Jersey Number 12 of Indian Women Cricket Team and an officer in the Indian Air Force.

Squadron Leader Shikha Pandey is a right-arm medium pacer and a middle-order batter in the National Women Cricket Team and the first national women cricket player from Goa.

shikha pandey CollageEducation:

Fl Lt Shikha Pandey was academically inclined, scoring 90-plus in her class 10 and class 12 CBSE exams. According to her, “It’s an age where most people contemplate a career. Around that time, an officer from the Services came down to my school to give a lecture on a career in the Indian Air Force as the school was situated in a defence set-up. That fired my imagination and I decided then that I wanted to be an Air Force pilot. The desire to serve the country was so big and my first route towards that dream was to do engineering.”

Curious Shikha took the Air Force Common Admission Test followed by the Services Selection Board and came out with flying colours. “I just gave the exam randomly and I got through,” she laughs. “Even at that stage, I wasn’t too keen on a job because cricket was the only thing in my mind. I didn’t make it to the England team then and as destiny had it, I joined the Indian Air Force.”

shikha pandey stats
Cricket Statistics of Shikha Pandey

She has completed her Bachelor in Engineering (BE) in Electrical and Electronics from Goa’s premier Goa College of Engineering and is presently employed with the Indian Air Force as a Flight Lieutenant.

From Engineering to Cricket:

During the summer vacation, young Shikha would spend her time watching cricket matches and bowling against a wall, imitating the actions of various international bowlers, her best impersonation being that of Daniel Vettori.

Shikha’s first encounter with professional cricket came at the age of 17 when she was selected to the Women Senior State Side to represent the state in the 2007-08 Season. In the same season, she represented Goa’s under-19 team as vice-captain, the under-19 South Zone team, and several others.

It was her performance in her first major tournament that changed it all. In an Under-19 inter-state tournament in Hyderabad, she scored three half-centuries for Goa and didn’t fare too badly with the ball either, earning a spot in the Under-19 South Zone team. She also led Goa to the Senior Women’s T20 Super League stage this season, almost toppling Railways, the defending champions.

The struggle for cricket in Air Force:

After her selection in the Air Force, work hours left little time for much else. Although she couldn’t become an Air Force pilot, she is an ATC officer – a demanding job with a lot of responsibility. There was a possibility of her not being able to play cricket again. But it wasn’t quite the end.

She was a bit apprehensive but got all the support from the Services Sports Control Board and the Air Force Sports Control Board.

But there was a catch. Although Services continued to field their men’s team in the Ranji Trophy, there were no provisions for a woman player – Shikha was the first for Services.

In March 2014, she was selected to the Indian Women’s Team to play for the World Cup.

Following the World Cup, India played a historical test match against England after eight long years, and the match was a dream-come-true for Shikha.

Shikha’s Achievements in cricket and her experience:

Speaking about her most memorable experience, she says, “Hitting the winning runs together with Mithali Raj against England in one of the tests that we played at Wormsley, England, in August, was an amazing experience. Also, my five-wicket haul against Haryana in the one-day tournament and a 56 ball 73 against Jharkhand in the T-20 tournament are some of the moments I’ll always cherish.”

Shikha says that there is a vast difference between playing at the national level and the international level. She feels that this gap can be bridged only by playing lots of matches, as this helps improve game standards.

New Defence Proposal To Buy Small Arms And Weapons

0
Defence Proposal To Buy Small Arms And Weapons

Indian government has turned itself toward strengthening the Armed Forces and bringing more power to the forces. The government agencies are working hard to make India self-reliant in manufacturing. India has been seen involved in manufacturing and purchasing arms from other nations. But now India is on the way to take some effective steps toward the small arms possessed by the soldiers.

The Indian army has moved in a positive direction for a proposal for procuring new assault rifles, snipers, machine guns, light weight rocket launchers and night vision equipment. The deals will cost about Rs. 300 Cr and will be discussed in the meeting of Defence Ministry next week. Going deep in the proposal, the Indian government seems to be interested in the M4A1 rifle form U.S. to arm the paramilitary battalions of India.

The actual required of the arms is for the newly raised para battalions, which have less ammunition than the older para battalions. The sources have revealed that the officials have planned to buy above mentioned arms along with shotguns, pistols and parachutes. These arms will remove the void in the Special Force of Indian army that is considered for handling crucial operations and tasks.

M4A1 rifle

Recently Indian government has also released a proposal to the call global investors for new sniper rifle to replace its sniper used in the army. The proposal was to induct new and advanced sniper rifles with more specifications and enhanced performance.
The proposal has the following requirements for the new sniper contract.

  • Range of the rifle should be 1200 m.
  • 8.6 mm bullets (India currently uses 7.6 mm bullets).

The proposal is for the purchasing of 5,000 rifles that would have about 50% more range than the currently used Russian sniper Dragunov. The Indian army has also asked for the manufacturing of the rifles in India to support Make in India and will also be a crucial step in indigenous manufacturing.

As far as the allegations of induction of Excalibur are concerned, the rifle is chosen as a replacement of the currently using assault rifles, till the forces don’t get a new imported rifle. Excalibur rifle is the indigenously produced assault rifle made to replace the old assault rifles. The rifle is produced by the Ordinance Factory of India and is an upgraded version of the INSAS rifle, which uses 5.56mm bullets. The Indian Armed Forces have lost interest in the Excalibur and now aiming at foreign advanced rifles that will raise the targeting power and reduce the life loss of soldiers.

Conclusion

Guns are always termed as the best friend of a solider and an efficient gun doubles the power of the soldier. The new and enhanced technology driven arms have made certain changes in the Armed Forces. The procurement, updates and modernisation of weapons and arms have been the top priority of the defence ministry. With the emerging pressure front he neighbouring nations, Indian Armed Forces have pointed toward the strengthening of the Armed Forces looking beyond the vision to modernise them.

Officers In The Indian Military See A ‘Spike’ In Premature Retirements

1
premature-retirements

In what could be termed as a shocking outcome of the 7th CPC and OROP, the number of officers who opted to retire before superannuation has gone up in all three services this year. These cases of premature retirements have spiked up since 2009!

It may be recalled that there was a consecutive decline in the number of premature retirements (PR) since 2013. According to the Ministry of Defence, the number of premature retirements in the Army till the end of May this year has increased to 64 now.

Navy’s data shows till date, in the current year, 135 cases of premature retirements have been received. This has been the highest since 2009!

In a leaked note, Commodore Rajesh Dhankar, Principal Director of Personnel, Indian Navy, predicted a continuation in the present trend of ‘increase in the number of PR requests.’

Causes and Control Steps For Premature Retirements:

premature-retirements-orop

Service conditions and monetary benefits remain the prime reason for officers leaving early. Another reason being cited is the implementation of the 7th CPC for which the officers were waiting in the hope to get a better pension package.

This is because when a pay commission is about to be awarded, those who’ve been wanting to go also extend their service because one’s pay gets revised and it has a direct fallout on the pension they will draw.

This reversal of trend comes even when the Armed Forces are facing a continuing shortage of officers.

Navy is considering some steps to make it difficult for the officers to retire due to the provisions of the seventh pay commission.

The Navy said that they have no problem if officers who see no future in the force want to resign. However, they have to ensure it does not happen in a way that important positions remain unmanned.
