10 Things Every 20 Something Should Be Doing

0
Indian army

Well folks, it is a little away, not totally but ya somewhat away from the topic of defence services’ preparations. I am 20 something and I feel that there are a few things every 20 something must be doing. Let us look up the list and of course you are most welcome to add more things in the comment box below:

  1. Travelling: Travel once you are young, with your bones enact and your health in your control. You might be short on money, but somehow arrange it. If you won’t travel now, it’ll be impossible to travel later, when you are trying to focus on your career.
  2. Reading: With the current evolution of technology, we have almost lost touch with reading. It is the correct time you should read. So grab a book, and book your tickets! Set out for a travel filled with reading. Or grab a book and sit down in that CCD down the road on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
  3. Talking: We talk lesser than we text these days. It is easier to chat with a person for us than communicate in real with him/her. It is high time that we start talking to people around us, as the mobile phones designed to bring people far from us closer, but now they are taking the person sitting next to us far from us. So instead of instagramming, facebooking or tweeting it’ll simply our feelings to a greater extent if you can actually talk about it to people around you.
  4. Spending: You should spend the money you have in the right direction. Smoking is cool, so id drinking, but if you have a limited allowance, it’ll give you much more happiness if you can spend it on an experience, like going for a trip, rather than spending it on a wasted night of pot.
  5. Saving: Saving at this point is very important. It is good if you are earning, and even if not, then too try saving a buck or two from your allowance. Trust me nothing boosts the confidence more than a good bank balance.Indian army
  6. Listening: We are so busy with our issues that we never pay attention to others. The result is that somebody keeps on talking to us and we, in spite of being there and listening to them, actually don’t listen, and think about our own issues. Listening should never be pretentious.
  7. Eating: We are so obsessed with dieting that we forget to eat. Being busy with work is good, shows that you have a great career, however not eating on time and skipping meals will land you in trouble and no job will be there when you are ill. On the other hand, this is an age where you can eat whatever you want to without much issues, so enjoy your food, adapt a healthy diet plan.
  8. Exercising: All work and no play makes you an ill guy. Need I say more?
  9. Being in touch: It is very important to stay in touch with your parents, grandparents and old friends. With our busy lives we forget that there is somebody waiting for our call. Make a point to dedicate one day to talk to important people in your life, trust me, your job can leave you frustrated but your loved ones will be there to support you.
  10. Being you: Wearing Prada, carrying Gucci bag , should never be the reason to forget and lose your real personality. Eat with your hands, when you want to, wear slippers instead of high heels once in a while. Stay in touch with yourself!

Why You Shouldn’t Give Up

0
Why You Shouldn’t Give Up

Often when we fail, we are surrounded by the clouds of disappointment. If the failures keep on coming continuously, we feel worthless and hopeless. The clouds of unhappiness let us down and make us feel absolutely hollow and insignificant. We don’t realize that there is a silver lining to every cloud. Candidates feel that after getting reject it is the end of the opportunities for them, it is end of the world for them. My friends please understand that the journey has just begun; it’ll take you to your destination. Enjoy the failures as there won’t be any after you succeed! You can’t give up just because you failed once, or twice. There are several reasons why you shouldn’t give up:

  1. Because you are worthy: You are valuable because a job, or an interview or an exam doesn’t determine your worthiness. There is much more to you than just an exam. And who knows that if you practice and try again you’ll ace in the same exam in which you failed. So you are valuable in all situations, in all scenarios no matter what?
  2. Everyone is special: As mentioned above your worth doesn’t get diminished by a fact that you couldn’t clear up some exam. You are you, you are good in something. Maybe not this, maybe something else. Who knows you’ll land up a job much better than the one you failed in. They do not say at the, just for the sake of saying in conference that even if you don’t get selected you can do much better in the outside world.
  3. Nobody else can be in your place: Only you know the pain of not getting something you wanted; only you know how much you deserve it. So none of your relatives or friends or criticizers can be in your place and understand the pain. Never give up hope because of that. Keep on trying, if that is what you want. If that is what you have to do.Why You Shouldn’t Give Up
  4. Your parents love you: What people don’t realize is that their parents love them, no matter what, they’ll always be on their side. They know that you are worthy and you’ll do good. If not this then something else, they always believe in you and trust me whatever you do, in the end you’ll make them proud, and they know that.
  5. Everyone succeeds in the end: If not this then something else. A brick lying on the floor can be of no use to the carpenter, so he won’t pick it up, but it is of much use to a mason and he’ll certainly pick it up. So never think that you will not succeed, if not for Armed Forces, you are definitely a right fit for something else.

Falling down is easy, almost every individual taste the bitter taste of failure more than once in their life, however, getting up is not easy, and those who get up after falling down every time, they definitely make a difference.

Story Of Bhupal Vasant Wagh, A Dabbawala Boy Journey To Indian Military Academy

0
A Pune dabbawala heads for IMA in Dehradun

Eighteen-year-old Bhupal Vasant Wagh is ready to pack his bags for the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. Wagh has just cleared the five-round SSB selection with flying colours, standing 24th in the All-India merit list, in the “10 + 2 technical entry” scheme. What makes Wagh stand out is the story of how he made it.

He lives in Shingte chawl in Pimpri, some 20 km from here, and works as a dabbawala. His father is a machine operator in a small industrial unit in Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation, Pimpri and his mother does part-time tailoring jobs. Each day, Wagh delivers dabbas to medical and engineering students who live in Sant Tukaram Nagar in Pimpri.

“I collect food made my neighbour who runs a mess for students and deliver it to the students. I earn Rs 500 a month, invaluable supplementary income for the household. I’ve been doing it for the past two years. In fact, I’m still doing it,” says Wagh.A Pune dabbawala heads for IMA in Dehradun

Wagh will continue his job till December 10. He’s scheduled reach Dehradun on January 18.

He put in three-four hours every day to prepare for the exams and attended the academy run by Lt Colonel Pradeep Brahmankar for training youngsters for the army. Says Brahmankar, “Out of every batch of 20 that I train, one or two belong to the economically and socially weaker strata. Such boys invariably come with low self-confidence. Wagh too was no different, nervous and wanting in confidence. But it took only seven to eight sessions and he was a changed boy __ he’d become assertive and began showing officer-like qualities.”

The going was not easy for Bhupal, who unlike others his age, could never afford a proper study table. He shares a 120 sq ft room with his parents and an elder brother. But he managed to top his school (Jyoti English High School) in Class X with 79 per cent, and scored 80 per cent in Class XII from Bharatiya Jain Sangathan School, Pimpri.

What To Do After AFCAT 2016

2
What To Do After AFCAT 2 2015

AFCAT 2016 exam was conducted recently and already there is a hustle amongst the candidates about the cutoff, or the result date. For those of you who have given AFCAT for the first time, here are few things you need to know, what all to do after AFCAT.

What is the cutoff?

The cutoff is the mark including and after which candidates are called for SSB. It means that a certain mark is decided and candidates who score after that are called for SSB. Generally it lies between 110-130. You can look up previous AFCAT’s cut-offs to know the marks. However it depends on the difficulty of the paper, the number of applicants and the average performance.

How to get the results?

On the day of the result you’ll get to know that the results have been published, either through the IAF website or through our website whichever’s notification reaches you first. Generally we are spot on time. You can look up your roll number in the document published by IAF, also you can login to your account in the candidate login section and get your marks and results.

What if I get through the written Test?

After getting through the written test, you’ll be asked to choose your own SSB date. This is a very flexible step taken by the IAF. This allows you to choose your own SSB date, based on your convenience. What will happen is that you’ll have to login through your candidate login, which you used to fill up the form, and get the admit card. Certain dates will be mentioned out which you can choose the date most suitable to you, for your SSB. Also you can choose your AFSB center.

When can I expect the results?

Generally, it takes up around 15 days to a month for IAF to publish the results. Keeping that in mind you can expect the results by end of September till first week of October.

Is AFSB same as SSB?

Except for the name rest everything is more or less the same. Except AFSB is meant for IAF candidates only. And through AFCAT you will get to choose AFSB only as your selection center. There are four functional AFSBs, 3 AFSB Gandhinagar being the newest. Others are 1 AFSB Dehradun, 2 AFSB Mysore and 4 AFSB Varanasi. One thing you should keep in mind is that you can’t choose the AFSB if you reside in that city. For example, if your parents live in Dehradun, or you study in Dehradun you can’t choose Dehradun as your AFSB.

How to prepare for AFSB?

There is ample material present on our website which can guide you step by step to the preparations. Feel free to follow them.

All You Need To Know About Yudh Abhyas 2015

Hello, Warriors! We recently saw the first-ever India-Australia joint naval exercise, AUSINDEX held at Vizag, strengthening Indo-Oz Naval ties. It had not been long since then and ‘Yudh Abhyas’ has started, the India-US annual exercise. The annual bilateral exercise which kicked off on September 9th and runs through September 23rd, focuses on combined US and Indian army training while promoting an enduring partnership and joint interoperability. Participating soldiers will train in low-intensity, counterinsurgency actions, civic assistant missions and quick reaction team operations. There will also be a combined command post exercise.

Here is what you need to know about the Yudh Abhyas 2015, according to reports:

  1. The India-US Combined Military Training Exercise YUDH ABHYAS 2015 will commence from 09 to 23 Sep 2015 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, USA.
  2. Yudh Abhyas is now in its eleventh year which started in 2004 under US Army Pacific partnership program. The United States and India alternate between hosting the exercise. In even-numbered years, the exercise is held in India. In odd-numbered years, the exercise is held in the United States.
  3. For many years, the United States hosted Yudh Abhyas in Hawaii. This is the first year it has been held at Joint Base Lewis McChord-JBLM. The previous edition of Yudh Abhyas was held in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand last year between soldiers of the Gurkha Regiment and the Arctic Wolves. Besides, Indian and the US navies and air forces have conducted regular drills.
  4. Participating in the exercise now, are soldiers from the 3-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1-23 Infantry Battalion, 593rd Expeditionary Support Command, California National Guard and 100th Troop Command. In all, about 225 American Soldiers will participate, with most coming from the 3-2 SBCT.
  5. From the Indian army, Soldiers from the 9th Mountain Brigade as well as from the subordinate 6th Kumaon Battalion will participate. About 150 Indian soldiers flew into JBLM aboard a C-17 aircraft to participate in the exercise.
  6. The two-week Yudh Abhyas includes a brigade-level command post exercise that mimics a United Nations peacekeeping operation; a field-training exercise that is focused on counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency; and academic discussions on topics such as regional security, emerging challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, the U.S. Army Operating Concept and amphibious operations.
  7. The exercise will provide an ideal platform for the personnel of the two countries to share their experiences on Military Operations in Urban Terrain, under the UN mandate.
  8. Commanders and Staff Officers of both sides will work in close coordination to receive and collate intelligence and to issue suitable operational orders to the combined field training components, who in turn will execute these orders on the ground. All You Need To Know About Yudh Abhyas 2015
  9. The exercise curriculum has been planned progressively where the participants will initially be made to get familiar with each others organizational structure, weapons, equipment, and tactical drills. Subsequently, under Joint Tactical Exercises battle drills of both the armies will be rehearsed.
  10. As the concluding part of the exercise a Consolidation and Validation exercise will be witnessed by senior officers and observers of both Armies, in which troops of both nations will carry out sub-unit level operations in Urban Insurgency and Military Operations in Urban Terrain.
