New Naval Detachment Comes Up At Lakshadweep

Naval Detachment inaugurated at Lakshadweep

The Indian Navy on 26th April established a new Naval Detachment (NAVDET) at Androth islands of Lakshadweep. The Naval base is aimed at enhancing the Navy’s reach and surveillance of Arabian Sea waters.

It was inaugurated by Vice-Admiral Girish Luthra, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command.

The charge of the detachment has been given to OIC Lt Cdr Angom B Singh, who in turn will function under the naval officer-in-charge (Lakshadweep and Minicoy Island). The setting up of the detachment in a time bound manner has been possible due to concerted efforts by the teams at L&M islands, with the support of all agencies.

Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands occupy a strategic location in the Arabian Sea. A number of shipping lanes pass close to these islands which connect Asia and Europe. Setting up of a Naval Detachment at Androth Island will enhance the Navy’s reach and surveillance, and contribute significantly to strengthen maritime security and stability.

Suitable ships are also being based at the islands to provide enhanced surveillance and immediate response capability.

As part of larger measures the Naval Detachment at Kavaratti was commissioned as a naval establishment, INS Dweeprakshak, in 2012.

A number of infrastructure facilities at naval units located on Kavaratti, Minicoy, Agatti and Androth islands are also being progressively upgraded, boosting the Indian Navy’s reach in the Sea and increase the efficiency of operations to be performed in near future.

Col Jasjit Singh

This news is reported by IndianExpress on May 6th 2016 as mentioned below

Commandant of the Aizawl-based 39th battalion of the Assam Rifles Col Jasjit Singh was on Thursday arrested by the police in Aizawl for allegedly being one of the major players in the highway robbery involving Rs 14.5 crore worth of gold bars smuggled from Myanmar.

The police alleged that Singh ordered his men, armed with sophisticated weapons, to waylay a consignment of smuggled gold biscuits in the southern outskirts of Aizawl city on the night of December 14 last year.

The incident came to light when driver of the vehicle Lalnunfela filed an FIR at the Aizawl police station on April 21 alleging his vehicle was waylaid by armed people from the 39 Assam Rifles who decamped with 52 gold biscuits worth Rs 14.5 crore.

Lalnunfela mentioned in the FIR that he was threatened at gun point by the assailants and was asked to keep his mouth shut, and it was only after being persuaded by his friends that he decided to inform the police.

The eight Assam Rifles jawans, accused of participating in the dacoity on December 14 last and now in custody, reportedly told their interrogators that they committed the crime after receiving orders from the battalion Commandant.Col Jasjit Singh

Singh, through his lawyer, on Thursday applied for an anticipatory bail, which was rejected by the Aizawl District and Sessions Judge Lucy Lalrinthari and he was arrested in the court premises.

He was suspended by Brigadier T C Malhotra, DIG (Range), Commander of the Aizawl-based 23 Sector of the Assam Rifles today.

When contacted, Brig Malhotra, refused to comment saying the matter was “sub-judice”.

The police had constituted a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) on April 22 to investigate the matter and registered cases including dacoity, criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation and dishonestly receiving property stolen in the commission of a dacoity.

The SIT has already arrested four people, including a former well-known student leader and a businessman on April 23 and 24, who were remanded to judicial custody.

11 Tricky NDA SSB Interview Questions With Answers

1
NDA SSB Interview Questions

SSB, in all, is general to every type of entry. Everyone is assessed on a common set of qualities or the OLQs. Every level of assessment is also the same in each entry type. The reason why NDA SSB stands out from the rest is due to the fact that it is a bit early for the boys. It might be the first interview of their life at that age.

While every assessment is the same and the preparation for it is the same too, here are some sample tricky NDA SSB interview questions that you might face in the interview and tips/sample answers to tackle them:

  1. Why do you want to join army/navy/air force?
  • “Indian Armed Forces is the most exciting organisation to work with because of its adventurous nature, and of course, the handsome pay perks. I would like to join the armed forces because it provides me job security, family security, respect that can only be earned in the uniform and the pride of wearing that uniform. And also I would get a chance to serve the nation and do my bit for it.”
  1. Why should I recommend you?
  • “From my point of view, I pose most of the Officer Like Qualities that an officer must have. I am responsible, socially adaptable and take initiative whenever given a chance. And that’s the most important of qualities that an officer must have. Hence, you should give me a chance to prove my points and myself by recommending me.”
  1. Why do you think you are suitable for Indian army?
  • “I have been living in the army environment since I was a child. I am not new to the stuff that happens in the army and can work in it without even posing a socializing or acclimatizing problem.” (If you are an Army brat)
  • “I find myself adventurous and ready to take risks in life. I can adapt to new situations and scenarios very easily. From my previous roles as a leader, I can also say that I have a good experience in leadership and teamwork. And army is all about it. Hence, I find me suitable for the role of an army officer.” (If you are new to army)
  1. Do you have Girl Friend/Boy Friend? Have you had sex with him/her?
  • Be Frank and confident with the IO and don’t feel too protective or shy. At the same time, don’t be too friendly or frank with him. Know your limits and stick to it.

  1. Why don’t you have a girlfriend? Are you gay?
  • You are on your own on this one.
  1. If you don’t get selected what will you do in future?
  • “I would continue my graduation and after that, I will try through CDSE/AFCAT/Other Entries. Basically I would continue my life.”
  1. What if you could never make it defence?
  • If the interviewer is asking you this question, keep one thing in mind – he is taking an interest in you and wants to recommend you. Your recommendation will now depend on this question. If you have a proper future planning, you are a green light but if say that you don’t have any plans as of now or you haven’t thought about it yet, you are a red orange light.
  1. What if I run away persuading your sister?
  • I would have better chances of getting recommended” is what I would reply if it were me. Don’t get offended by his remarks. Take it in an easy and jovial mood and reply in that mood itself.
  1. What if one morning you woke up & found that you were pregnant?
  • This question is like a template on the internet blogs titled “Tricky interview questions”. Unsure whether it’s really asked or not, here’s was the girl replied “I will be very excited and take an off, to celebrate with my husband.” As said earlier, take everything positively and in a calm and polite way. This will represent your response to your teammates and your ability to socialize.

  1. Do you smoke? Drink?
  • Again, be frank and confident but don’t be too friendly or free with him. He’s the interviewer after all and not your friend.
  1. Do you watch P*orn? And what do you do after watching p*orn?
  • It was asked to one of my friends during TES SSB and here’s what he replied: “Yes, I do. I hit the gym right after watching p*orn because my high testosterone levels help me increase the intensity of training and I could work-out better.”

Finally, when questions are asked whose answers you don’t know, say honestly that you don’t know the answer instead of trying to fake. Do self-introspection and then reflect your true personality at SSB. That’s the only success mantra and the tool for success. Sometimes just thinking out of the box is all it takes!
