Answering Questions Modi-Barack Obama’s Joint Press Conference 2015:

PM Modi on US-China Agreement and pressures on India: The agreement concluded by US and China doesn’t put pressure on us. India is an independent country. There is no pressure from any other country. But climate change, global warming in themselves are huge pressure points. Anyone who is concerned about future generations must feel responsible and this pressure should be on every country, government and individual.
PM Modi on his friendship with President Obama, and what they spoke about today: I’m fairly new in this area but relations between countries depends less on full stops and commas and more on the chemistry between them. Barack and I have forged a friendship. There is openness when we talk. This chemistry has brought Barak closer to me but also brought the people of India and America closer. As far as what we spoke about, usey parde main rehne dein. (let that be under wraps.)
President Obama on common values and PM Modi: Part of the reason we are natural partners is because we share values… Prime Minister Modi caused great excitement in the US when he visited last year…. Compared to how much sleep each of us is getting. Turns out Prime Minister Modi is getting even less sleep than me. That is perhaps because he is new. After you have done it for 6 years, you can get an extra hour.

A woman officer, Wing Commander Puja Thakur, led the Guard of ceremonial Honour for US President Barack Obama at the Rashtrapati Bhavan today. President Obama was given a 21-gun salute at the forecourt of the majestic presidential palace, where President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top union ministers were also present.

Wing Commander Thakur then walked president Obama for the inspection of the tri-service guard of honour. A woman officer led the Guard of Honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan for the first time.

Five Things You Must Know About Barack Obama’s Trip to India

Five Things You Must Know About Barack Obama's Trip to India

President Barack Obama is India’s chief guest on 26th Jan 2015 66th republic day. Indian prime minister Narendra Modi invited President Barack Obama as a chief guest which was accepted by Mr. President. Obama arrived in India on Sunday to be the chief guest at the country’s Republic Day parade – the first time a US president has been honoured in this way. It will also mark the first time that a sitting US president has twice visited India. So, amid all the talk of “natural partners” and “relationships that will define the 21st Century” what can we expect during the three-day visit?

Red Carpet

India has been getting very excited about Mr Obama’s arrival – the nation loves celebrities and VIPs, and stories about their entourages of bodyguards – and the country enjoys the way the visit underscores its increasing emergence.
But probably more important than Mr Obama’s current trip, was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington last autumn, on the heels of the UN General Assembly. That followed a decade in which Mr Modi himself had been denied a visa over accusations that he had failed in 2002 to prevent the massacre of hundreds of Muslims in Gujarat, where he was chief minister. With nations such as Germany, Japan and Brazil extending invitations to Mr Modi, who was elected in a landslide last May, the US was keen to stress that a new phase of the India-US relationship could begin.

barack obama in India
Alyssa Ayres, who served in the US state department as a South Asia expert and who is now a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, said this week that despite his treatment over the visa issue, Mr Modi did not possess the same knee-jerk wariness of the US that had influenced other India premiers. “Modi does not have any of the hang-ups that previous Indian leaders did,” she said.

What does US want?

The US really wants India to open up its markets – to global retail, legal services and insurance. At the moment, despite constant lobbying, there are strict limits on foreign direct investment. The US is also keen to press ahead with developing India’s clean energy infrastructure, an area which Delhi is keen to make a priority, and Mr Obama wants India to agree to support a carbon emissions deal ahead of global climate talks in Paris at the end of the year.
India has become the third total carbon emitter, even though its per capita emissions are a fraction of those of the West. It has always resisted calls for a cap to emissions, saying that with hundreds of millions of citizens living off a dollar or two a day, its economic development must be a priority. Intellectual property rights will be discused.
The US is always keen to push India as a regional strategic counterweight to China and US arms dealers love to tell Indian officials how vulnerable they are. So much so, that India is the world’s largest purchaser of weapons and the US is its biggest supplier.
“I anticipate a breakthrough on defence. The two sides will most likely sign a new, ten-year defence framework agreement, which will deepen military-to-military ties,” said Milan Vaishnav, an India expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. “In line with this, there are heightened expectations that the two sides will finally agree on a piece of military hardware to jointly develop and produce.”

India’s wishes :

In exchange for closer ties – a breaking of its traditional policy of non-alignment – India will be pressing the US for greater cooperation on terrorism and access to high-technology goods for civilian and military use. It is also always keen for the US to speak out about those elements in Pakistan which continue to support anti-Indian militancy and cross-border attacks in Afghanistan, a country India is developing close ties with.
“Foreign crises will form a big part of the discussion between Obama and Modi,” analyst Seema Sirohi wrote in a recent briefing for the Indian Council on Global Relations.
“The turmoil in the Muslim world at large, the rise of Isis, the recruitment of youth through the internet, the Afghanistan-Pakistan situation and China – all of these point for greater cooperation between the US administration and India.”
At a broader level, India would welcome any US recognition of its emergence as a global player. When Mr Obama visited Delhi in November 2010, he told the joint houses of parliament he supported India becoming a permanent member of UN Security Council.

Strip-search :

It is barely a year since India-US relations were badly derailed following an unlikely incident surrounding the arrest of an Indian diplomat in New York who was accused of lying on forms about her children’s nanny. Indians were horrified and insulted to learn that one of its envoys was arrested, strip searched and treated like a common criminal. Americans, no strangers to the notion of exceptionalism when it suits them, said the diplomat should have obeyed the rules.
The incident underscored genuine cultural differences between the two countries. Indian officials often feel they are bullied at international forums, while officials of other nations claim Indians are awkward and want special treatment. One issue of potential huge benefit to both countries – but which they cannot appear to solve relates to the landmark civilian nuclear deal signed in 2008. There are billions of potential dollars to be secured, but things are being held up by India’s reluctance to pass legislation that would protect suppliers from liability in the event of a nuclear accident.

Camels:

The air in Delhi has become increasingly bad and some days the pollution can be worse than that in Beijing. But a sunny afternoon during the Indian winter is a wonderful, special pleasure, perhaps the best time of year to visit the country. In addition to be flattered and fawned upon and Indians going giddy about the visit despite themselves, Mr Obama will also be special guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
The day marks the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 and India marked its formal emergence as a independent republic. (One of the writers of the constitution, Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, was a post-graduate student at New York’s Columbia University).
“The US is central to Modi’s economic and developmental programme, not to speak of regional security,” said Indian journalist Ashok Malik. “By the very act of inviting Obama for Republic Day, he is sending a clear and clear-headed signal of that, including to naysayers in his system.”
Mr Obama may or may not find the march-past of of soldiers and tanks and floats along Delhi’s Rajpath to his taste, but it is a rare person who is not entertained and delighted by the sight of the soldiers of the Border Security Force on the backs of their smartly attired camels – one of just a handful of units in the world that still use these animals.

Obama’s Cadillac The Beast v/s Modi’s BMW 760Li

Obama's The Beast v/s Modi's BMW 760Li

US president Barack Obama will be reaching Indian on 25th Jan 2015 at 10:30 AM lading in Delhi air force base. Barack Obama is the most important chief guest on 26th Jan 2015 parade at New Delhi. You must be watching lots of articles and images of president Barack Obama’s Cadillac limousine The Beast. In this article we are going to compare what US president’s car (the beast) has V/s Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s car (BMW 760Li) .

Obama's Cadillac The Beast v/s Modi's BMW 760Li

US President Barack Obama: The Beast

obama cadillac the%3D beast
Barack Obama’s Cadillac
  • It looks like a Cadillac, but that is it. It is not really a derivative of the Cadillac DTS as it seems, since it only borrows styling from that model. Underneath the limo exterior is a Chevrolet Kodiak – which is a medium sized truck (sort of the same size as our Tata 407, but more sophisticated)!
  • Anyone can buy an armoured limo. Yes BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz even sell those in India. The Beast goes well beyond regular armouring with an 8-inch thick body plating and 5-inch thick bulletproof windows. The car itself weighs 8 tonnes.
  • The doors swing on special heavy-duty hinges as they weigh as much as doors on a Boeing 757 aircraft.
    Barack Obama Car Details
  • The massive weight needs every horsepower the 6.5 litre Duramax diesel engine can offer. The Beast uses this diesel truck engine since it can take to varying purity levels of the more commonly available fuel type globally.
  • It’s a 7-seater – yup just like all “family MPVs”! So this one can accommodate POTUS, his driver, chief Secret Service agent and four others too. So FLOTUS, the girls and grandma maybe?!
  • Goodyear makes special Kevlar-coated run-flat tyres for the Beast – to withstand puncture and even run when shot out.
  • The fuel tank is covered with a special foam that prevents any impact-related explosion. It’s boot has special oxygen tanks and firefighting equipment.
  • In the event of a chemical attack, the car cuts off outside air completely, and keeps the cabin supplied with breathable air until it is safe to open the doors again.
  • Night vision cameras, teargas cannons and a shotgun are standard on the Beast. It also houses a special compartment to hold pouches of POTUS’ blood type.
  • It runs with Washington DC plates – everywhere it goes

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi: BMW 760Li

modi bmw car
Narendra Modi: BMW 760Li
  • Prime minister is understood to have more than half-a-dozen BMW 760Li high-security limousines (some are used as decoy vehicles), while having around a dozen BMW X5 SUVs that are used by the SPG.
  • The vehicle, which is able to secure the occupants from landmine blasts to Kalashnikov’s bullets, and run for kilometers even on flat tyres and are fitted with advance heat sensors to ward off missiles and bombs as well.
  • While the fuel tanks are made such that they don’t explode during an attack, its cabin also turns into a gas-proof chamber and ensures oxygen supply to secure the occupant in cases of gas attacks,
  • These vehicles offer high-level of sophistication and guard against attacks from heavy-calibre ammunition and explosives. The optimized armour plates are made from an incredibly strong special steel, and fit the bodywork of the car like a second skin. The entire interior is sheathed in an innovative combination of materials that forms an impenetrable second skin.
  • Among the numerous safety features are run-flat tyres, a self-sealing fuel tank, an attack alarm and an intercom system, which enables the occupants to communicate with the outside world without leaving the vehicle or opening the doors or windows.
  • The 760Li High Security edition of BMW 7-Series given to Modi has met the highest ballistic protection class B6/B7 available.

Acquiring Self Knowledge

Acquiring Self Knowledge

It’s quite easy to form an opinion of others. We always tend to be judgmental of others. We can easily tell what kind of a person the other one is. However, when it comes to judging yourself or to say, describing your personality we become stupefied. One of the toughest things in the world is to judge oneself. Everyone has some or the other flaws, but everyone thinks he is the best person in the whole world. Strange isn’t it? Today we would like to propound an exercise in front of our viewers which would entangle the mystery behind their own personality. In the SSB, If you go with correct self-assessment, you will feel at ease while talking about yourself.

Acquiring Self Knowledge

  • These are a set of questions which you are required to jot down on a piece of paper and then answer them very genuinely. Remember, the success of this exercise depends on how truthfully you have answered the questions.
  • Are my thoughts, actions and words always pure? Was there an occasion recently when it was not so?
  • Can I be considered to be a man of integrity acting according to what is expected of me in my position?
    Acquiring Self Knowledge
  • Am I honest? Was there an occasion when I lied, cheated or stole?
  • Am I loyal? Or my loyalty changes to suit my interests?
  • Do I think about the feelings of others? Or I do only do things which would suit my self interest?
  • Do I have the courage to take decisions knowing that they might turn out to be wrong? Or do I procrastinate and try to involve others in the decision making?
  • Do I have the patience and perseverance to apply myself to a task till it is successfully completed? Or do I give up when faced with difficulties, or out of sheer laziness?
  • Do I take initiatives? Or do I drift along?
  • Do I have the knowledge, skill and capability to achieve excellence in my work? Have I updated my knowledge?
  • Can I deal with people to get positive responses from them to accomplish whatever has to be done?
  • Do I know my strengths and weaknesses? Or do I believe that I am perfect and people are jealous of me and don’t cooperate with me?
Now after answering these questions genuinely, reflect upon yourself. This is a very interesting exercise which would reveal the type of personality you have what needs to be done to improve the same. No person achieves excellence over night. Therefore my advice will be to maintain a daily log of your habits and then reflect upon them using these questions. I am sure, slowly slowly you will feel that you are evolving as person.
