ISIS, a name that itself signifies the terrorism and deaths, is celebrating one year of declaration of the caliphate. Well, this one year was very much tough for the people as well as the government. ISIS these days is on the top of the list of terror groups and is also named as deadliest terror group overcoming Al-Qaeda.

Beheading and Massacre: Media was full with the news of beheading of pilots and one of the Jordanian pilot, burnt alive by them. 18 Syrian pilots were beheaded in the fight against terrorism. May people of the acquired area were beheaded including some armed forces personals also. Recently ISIS is reported to have beheaded 2 women of Syria in the first attempt of beheading women. The women were alleged of sorcery activities and were executed for it. These activities have made their dictatorship over the area.

Radioactive Material: A report came recently (released by Australian intelligence) about the group having sufficient radioactive material that can be used to make a dirty bomb. The source of radioactive material is thought to be the research centers and hospitals that were under the government. ISIS collected the radioactive material and is not trying to produce a bomb. Not only this, ISIS is also believed to be working on poisonous gas like chlorine.

Mass Emigration: The wrath of ISIS on Iran has led to the mass migration of citizen form the country. The people were reported to flee from the area. ISIS has also threatened to migrate about 5 lakh people from Libya to Europe. Well, these weapons were sharply planned and masterminded.

Women as Sex Slave: Thousands of women and girls were estimated to be indulged in sexual slavery. According to human rights report, the women under the ISIS occupied area are facing sexual assault, sexual slavery, organized rape and forced marriage. Open selling of girls on the basis of their virginity and appearance, is also reported by some sources. And sometimes repeated selling is also witnessed.

Online Recruitment and Impact on Youth: Many countries are suffering from their citizens going for recruitment in ISIS. Turkey, France, U.K. and even India is among the list from where recruits have joined ISIS. India also became prey of it when 4 students of kalyan, Mumbai went to join ISIS. The speeding recruitment drive has become a headache for the world. According to the sources, the new recruits include militants of Al-Nusra front and Al-Qaeda affiliated by Syria. The group is also very active in social media like Facebook, Tweeter, Instagram and Dawn (famous in Middle East). Ads of requirement of Doctors, engineers (to run their oilfields overtaken by them), reporters, and accountants is also reported. Some website have the group advertising for qualified hackers and programmers.

People are still waiting for justice and ISIS is mostly seen on the headlines, always for a disappointing cause. This problem can be solved with political and military coordination. And need to be solved before it will change its face to a more cruel and disastrous one.

Water Crisis – Caution for Future

The human body needs many resources to survive and some basic things to lead the human race. Water is one of the crucial resource to continue the generation of all living beings on earth. One can’t expect the life without a water (chemical name is Hydrogen Oxide, H2O). But since the man has taken technology to a higher level, he has neglected that as high as he is going up with the ever upgrading technology, the importance of water is being neglected.

A recently released report revealed that about 80% of India’s surface water is polluted. If this case remains true for few more years, then, there will be a day when Water will be declared more costly than gold.

Namami Gange Project

Ganga, the holy river of India, has been recently in the news for being one of the most polluted rivers in India. And, it is estimated that 75-80% of water pollution is from domestic sewage. The wastage of manufacturing companies, ash of cremated people, washing of clothes are few of the major reasons behind its pollution. According to a recently executed survey, it has been informed that nearly 21% of India’s disease are water born which majorly affects people from backward and slum areas. Government sanctioned INR 20,000 crore budget for this project.

The shrinkage of clean water supply is decreasing. The data have also mentioned that about 65% of the Indian cultivable land do not have irrigation facilities. The situation is expected to turn grim as survey disclosed that water supply will reduce by 50% in 2030. This is one of the drastic situation, one can ever expect.

How to tackle Water Crisis?

Now, as we have acknowledged the crisis of water, we must also gain the knowledge about how to tackle the water crisis. So, with these following three tips, this global issue can be resolved to a much higher extend.

Conserve Rain Water: The best way to conserve water is by conserving rain water. It is the best and purest source of water. There are numerous rain water harvesting techniques which can be executed. Surface runoff harvesting, rooftop rainwater harvesting are the two broad categories under which different water conservation techniques are present.

Expel Wastage of Water at Home: The water crisis started after neglecting the wastage of water in households. By stopping the excess use as well as wastage of water within each and every house of the nation, the problem of water crisis can be overpowered to a much higher extend. Following a few simple steps like to turn the tap off when not in use, take a bath using a bucket instead of shower, wash all the utensils at one time, etc. will help in getting half success in this issue.

Prevent Water Pollution: As the example of the polluted Ganga River has already been present in front you all, you all must take a pledge that you will no more be the participant in polluting any of the fresh water source. Today, the work is going on to find the existence of Sarasvati River as well as cleaning of the Ganga River. But if we don’t pollute them in the initial stage, then there would not be the need of such heavy activities.

All in all, it’s up to you, the common man, who can eradicate the water crisis from the globe and make it a planet known as the Blue planet. Government is there to take possible actions and execute different projects in order to refresh polluted water, but if you will not take precautions then there will not be any need of such governmental projects/schemes.

China is one of the neighbors of India, which shares a common boundary. Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a visit to China, where many agreements were signed and the issue of China occupies Kashmir was also discussed. China has been a country with off and on relations with India. Recently it was in the news for its involvement in the Indian Ocean region.

China’s escalating influence in the Indian Ocean region and South China Sea are some of the points that are majorly a part of news in the media. So, all aspirants preparing for the SSB must be aware of the recent happening, which will help you to support your point in Group Discussion and also add a positive impression on interviewing officer.

China, spreading its branches around India, is a part of India’s concern. China’s presence in the Indian Ocean is observed to be increasing from past few years. All military and political traits of China are aiming toward some crucial matters.

Chinese submarine was observed a few weeks ago in Karachi, Pakistan, close all season friend of China. The submarine crossed the Arabian Sea close to Indian waters and stayed there for a week. The incident is thought to be a sign of the People’s Liberation Army- Navy to become a blue water navy. These days China is under stiff situation with some countries in concern with acquiring some sea area, claimed to be the property of Philippians and some other nations. Chinese Submarine in Silence: Last year similar incident took place when a Chinese submarine and a warship was docked at Colombo port, Sri Lanka. The reason for docking was disclosed as crew refreshment and refueling. Well, this was not taken as a big deal as about 230 ships have been docked in Sri Lanka since 2010 for goodwill visits, refueling and crew refreshment. The crucial position of Sri Lanka in sea route makes it a safe spot. But these visits became an issue of discussion in New Delhi. As China’s stand on the South China Sea is an example of bitterness in relations. Recently another news was circulated in the media that Sri Lanka is about to buy JF-17 Thunder Fighter Jets from China. But later Sri Lanka denied the rumors about buying the jets.

China’s Statement on South China Sea: In a statement by China, that amazed many nations, China stated that giving back the south China sea claims would make his ancestors shame. The statement was given by China’s forging minister. In recent month’s China has started reclamation and construction work in South China Sea by building artificial islands and airbases in the waters claimed by Vietnam, Malaysia and Philippines. He said that China was a large sea faring nation, one thousand years ago, that means China is the first nation to discover the use of Nansha Island.

The Chinese military empowerment and successive advancement are making lots of issues and news in the media. India needs to get alert as the neighbors are on a move. It’s better to prepare than to talk.

Story Of Lt Ruchi Verma Will Inspire You To Succeed

As an Army officer’s wife, Lt Ruchi Verma had a peaceful life till 2013 when her husband Major Vineet Verma died in action in the insurgency-hit Balipara, Assam. The ‘veer nari’ title given to army widows wasn’t enough for Verma: She stepped out of the comforts of her home and virtually took over her husband’s duty to the nation, enrolling herself at the Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai last year. Lt Ruchi Verma, 24, was among the 185 cadets of OTA who were formally inducted as officers of the Indian Army.

“My life has turned upside down since I joined the training academy,” said Lt Ruchi Verma, who hopes her five-year old son Akshat Verma will join the Army someday. “I always liked being an officer’s lady,” she said, after the piping ceremony where she was commissioned as Lt Ruchi Verma.

“When Vineet was alive, I had a comfortable life. Servants always carried my bags. I travelled by car for even a distance of 100m. And then, as my training started, I had to run, carrying heavy weaponry,” she said.

Lt Ruchi Verma had to crop her long tresses for the training. When it comes to hard, rigorous training, women are treated as equals to men here in the training academy, said the lady officer. “My legs ached and it became very difficult to run during the first six months of the training. But I wanted to face it, fight it and finish it. I feel fitter and ready for battle now,” she said.

Ruchi’s husband Vineet Verma, who joined the Army in 2006, became a Major in 2009. Since then he had been posted in field areas (line of control) all around the country. He laid down his life after seven years in service.

A native of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, Ruchi met Vineet, from Allahabad, after their marriage was arranged by elders. “He was committed to the service and I want to take the good work forward,” she said. Their son Akshat who is to join class 1 is looked after by Ruchi’s mother.

Meet Real Life James Bond Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor

Ajit Doval, a celebrated officer of Indian intelligence, known for his daring acts, is India’s National Security Adviser (NSA). On behalf of the Prime Minister, the NSA is the custodian of nuclear button. Ajit Doval, 69, was the director of Intelligence Bureau from 2004 to 2005. He spent decades heading different operation wings. His acts during his service, entrenching deep inside enemy lines, are copycats of spy thrillers.

Ajit Doval, a topper of IPS 1968 batch from Kerala cadre, has served with distinction in Mizoram, Punjab, Kashmir, Pakistan and the UK.

Ajit Doval received India’s second highest gallantry award, the Kirti Chakra, for his daring exploit in the Golden Temple Operation.

In Kashmir, he lured away prominent militants like Kukkay Parey and turned him and his colleagues into counter-insurgents, a policy criticized in some quarters but also praised by others as an effective tool that helped combat militancy in Kashmir at its peak.

One of his last high profile acts in a career spanning 37 years was as part of the negotiating team that worked behind the scene during the December 1999 hijack of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814 to Kandahar.

Ajit Doval also spent six crucial years in Pakistan as an undercover intelligence officer in Indian mission in Islamabad.

When intelligence sources in Kashmir had dried up, he took up the challenge in 1994 and created a band of counter-insurgents led by dreaded Kuka Parray to reply militants in the same language. That paved way for 1996 assembly elections.

After retirement from service on January 31, 2005, he was security advisor to the Karnataka government.

Known for his clear insight and vision for Indian and global security issues, Doval has been the youngest police officer ever to get the Indian Police Medal, just six years after joining the service.

In 1988, Ajit Doval was awarded one of the highest gallantry awards, the Kirti Chakra, becoming the first police officer to receive a medal previously given only as a military honour.

Candidates who are willing to join the Indian air force as an officer can apply online for AFCAT at www.careerairforce.nic.in. No order mode of submission will be accepted by the Indian air force. Below we are giving step by step instructions on how to apply for AFCAT exam.

Preparation for Filling Application Form- Before proceeding with the application process, please take the following preliminary steps

Read and understand the Notification for the relevant AFCAT Examination given in the website carefully with particular reference to various qualifying requirements.
Ensure that all documents pertaining to your educational qualifications from Class X to your highest qualification are available for ready reference.
Photograph. Ensure that a soft copy of your passport size photograph (Mandatory), signature (Optional) and fingerprint (Optional) are stored in the local hard disc of your computer for attaching with your application form. Kindly ensure that the photo has a file size between 10 KB to 50 KB and presents your head from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin. Photograph size must be 2 inches by 2 inches, with the head centered to the frame.

Process of Application. Your application will be treated as complete only when ALL parts are completed and the form is uploaded by pressing the SUBMIT button. Steps to complete the remaining parts of the Application Form are as follows

Step I. Please re-login at careerairforce.nic.in using the above-mentioned User ID and Password. On logging in, please change your password to a new one which you will remember throughout the application process.
Step II. Now, login using the new password defined by you, and enter your qualification details in Parts 2 and 3 of the application form.
Step III. Based on the information provided in earlier parts, please select your choice of course(s) and choice of Exam Centres in Part 4. Please note that only those courses/ branches would be permitted and displayed by the system for which you are adjudged as eligible, based on data provided by you – you would be able to exercise your choice amongst these.

Story Of Lt Anjana Mohan, Lawyer, Dancer To Army Sword of Honour

When Lt Anjana Mohan bagged the ‘Sword of Honour’ in the combined course of Short Service Commission 99 and Short Service Commission (women) 13 at the Indian Army’s Officer Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, she had not only stood out among scores of men and women, but also achieved the rare feat of being the first woman to get the best all-round cadet award.

“The army is a way of life, not just a profession,” said the Sanpada resident at the headquarters of MG&G (Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa) area in Colaba as her mother Laila Karkera beamed with pride.

A lawyer by profession, Lt Anjana Mohan chose to opt for the road less travelled when she spotted an advertisement for posts in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch. The JAG comprises legally qualified army officers.

“The 11-month training made me realise that I can expand the limit of my capabilities by conditioning my mind, and with persistence. The exercises and tasks blurred the idea of impossibility so much that if anyone springs up a seemingly herculean task, I will give it a good try,” says the 25-year-old. During the training, Lt Anjana Mohan also won a silver medal for cross-country running in the junior level and a merit card for the same in the senior level.

Among the many hats that Lt Anjana Mohan adorns is her proficiency in Bharatanatyam, which she started learning at the age of three.

Revealing that she would soon move to Srinagar, Lt Anjana Mohan said, “I’m leaving my family to be part of another family.” She asserted that she was done with her initial training and will get several opportunities to upgrade her knowledge of law in the years to come.

Can Final Year Candidates Apply For AFCAT 1 2016?

Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations may apply for all courses commencing in Jul 2017 provided they fulfil the following conditions:
- Candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together upto the last semester / year for which results have been declared at the time of online submission and at the time of SSB.
- Candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificate issued by University by 15 Jul 2017.
