PM Modi says govt committed to one-rank, one-pension, tells veterans to be patient

PM Modi says govt committed to one-rank, one-pension, tells veterans to be patient: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday again tried to douse the fast-erupting anger among ex-servicemen over the continuing delay in implementing the much-promised one rank, one pension (OROP), asking them for “some more time” to resolve the complex issue.

But the seething ex-servicemen, some of whom have begun to boycott government functions and plan a major rally in New Delhi on June 14, see “bureaucratic machinations” at play once again to further delay OROP on the pretext that it is yet to be defined properly.

“The PM has been wrongly briefed. There is only one definition, only one implication and only one calculation. The attempt is to further delay, dilute and finally deny full OROP,” said Major-General (retd) Satbir Singh, chairperson of the Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement.

Modi, however, counselled patience to the veterans, who constitute a vocal 25-lakh strong community. “You have been patient for 40 years. Give me some time to address it. This is a complex, vexed issue… We will together find a solution,” the PM said in his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on All India Radio on Sunday.

Attacking previous governments for taking the armed forces for a ride by keeping OROP “hanging for the last 40 years”, the PM said various departments were at work to resolve the matter at the earliest. “I have made a promise in the midst of ex-servicemen that my government will implement OROP. We do not shun our responsibility,” he said.

“I am saying this not as the PM but as a human being with full sincerity, especially to the soldiers who are engaged in protecting the country as well as those who have retired from the armed forces and those who have made sacrifices,” he added.

But the proof of the pudding will lie in the eating for the ex-servicemen. Political parties have all promised OROP – payment of uniform pension to personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their retirement date – but failed to deliver once they came to office.

As reported by TOI earlier, thousands of ex-servicemen have been holding rallies as well as returning their medals to register their protest since 2008-2009. “OROP has become ‘only rhetoric, only promises’. Deadlines have come and gone but nobody has yet shown us the money,” said a retired brigadier. one rank one pension

When the Modi government came to power in May last year, the veteran community expected it to implement OROP within the first year. Their hopes were further raised after defence minister Manohar Parrikar repeatedly said over the last few months that OROP was virtually a done thing since it had been cleared by his ministry.

“It was to first come on December 31, then January 31, then with the budget on February 28, and then at the PM’s Mathura rally on May 25… But the wait has become endless. Now, we hear even its definition is yet to be finalised. The definition was settled long ago, and even adopted by Parliament (Rajya Sabha committee on petitions, chaired by Bhagat Singh Koshyari, in December 2011),” said Maj-Gen Singh.

How To Prepare For AFSB Interview And Get Success?

afsb interview tips

How To Prepare For AFSB Interview And Get Success?: Aspirants who could not get a call for TGC or SSC entry were sad because of the sudden increase of cut-off by the Indian army, but now they can chill and start preparing for this entry. There is nothing like a high cut-off which is near 70 per cent, you just need to clear an easy exam called AFCAT and get ready to earn your wings. Aspirants usually get about a month or so after the written exam to prepare for their AFSB and can fulfil their dream easily.

The AFCAT 1 is over and soon we will be receiving notification for AFCAT 2 but those who are undergoing AFSB this time should prepare well. It’s always a dream to earn wings as early as possible and serve the motherland. I am quite sure serious aspirants might have started their preparation who have seen their names in the clearance list of this entry published earlier on our blog.

Those who have still not started the preparation are a bit late but they can make up by immediately starting their preparation and building their personality profiles and working on psychology and personality development as an initial phase of preparation. SSB is something where one needs to reveal their true set of personality and the qualities that the assessors are looking for. So aspirants should be ready and start preparing as there is less time now. How to prepare now will be the next question. Follow the below steps for it:

  • The preparation should start from the personality analysis because SSB needs a reflection of your very own personality rather than copying it of someone else. So one should know himself or herself first.
  • Once this is done, then only the practice of various rounds should be started.
  • For creating personality profiling, one should study the life events w.r.t OLQ’s and then find out what are their strength and weak areas. Accordingly weak areas should be worked on. Now I have developed certain tools that help in proper self-introspection that I use in, my mentorship program that is provided personally. Here full self-introspection is done under guidance and results are shared which have definitely helped many in difficult times.
  • That makes life easy as one works one to one individually from their place itself, and all the weak areas are pointed so that one is aware on what needs to be worked on.
  • Once the weak areas are rectified, then it’s very simple to reflect the personality rectified with OLQ’s in whatever you do in SSB. These are the simple mantra of preparation.afsb interview tips

Follow these simple steps and never look for preparation where large groups are taken at one shot as there might be a risk of loss of individuality. Don’t try to copy recommended candidates or stories of others and always look for right guidance.  Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for OLQ’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected]  or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Start early and don’t wait more now. If right guidance is there success is not far off. Self-introspection is the only key as many talk of it but nobody help in doing that. Do it and get success.

10 Things To Keep In Mind For Success In A GD Of SSB

0
SSB-Group-Discussion

10 Things To Keep In Mind For Success In A GD Of SSB: SSB is altogether a different exam where everything common happens but is judged in a different way. In this series, I would like to take up how things are assessed by the assessors and how are they different. Also what could be a strategy of the aspirant to get success? PPDT will have a concluding GD where the goal is to achieve a common story while GTO round will have 2 GD on general awareness topics and a GD on GPE also. So in all there will be four points where the group needs a discussion. It has been asked by hundreds of aspirants through the mail that how one should perform and do well in GD.

Please remember that these GD’s are different altogether as things are psychologically judged and there would be three assessors who will be willing to look for the initial stint of OLQ’s only in the person. So forget starting a GD or shouting and speaking a lot many times. These are all myths and will disturb you from preparing in the right direction. If in PPDT you are able to reveal the few set of Qualities you are definitely in. The assessors here see the potential for being an officer, rest all the qualities are verified later in other 4 days at SSB. Now let’s have a look to what can give you success in GD:

  • Do not look to the officers while narrating your story or while discussing them in the group.
  • Follow all the instructions given while briefing all the processes.
  • If smaller groups are being formed in fish market situations or in any other situation follow special instructions and be calm.
  • The assessors will be the moderators also. Try not to create a fish market situation, if that’s created work hard to resolve or coming out of the situation else the moderation of the GD would be done otherwise.
  • Proper body language is really very important in GD so follow all the basic rules of revealing a positive body language.
  • Arguing is never allowed in a GD. These PPDT and other 2 GD’s are judged differently so don’t take it to be a normal GD where you will be selected from the number of times you speak/stand out.
  • Time management and a conclusion are really very important for the success of self and the group.
  • Try keeping stronger points at particular instances only when you will be heard and those points will have a maximum impact.
  • Listening is also a good habit in SSB, so give other a chance as well and include all in the group, specially the weaker ones.
  • Be a leader or a manager or an influencer or a knowledge bank in a group but certainly perform roles in GD to stand out and get selected.SSB-Group-Discussion

Body language in such an exercise is very important and I would deal it in a separate article. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program or need personal assessment for introspection drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. SSB is just knowing about yourself through introspection and reflecting the same during the exam, which is easy as you just have to be yourself. Happy preparations!!!

10 Best Military Training Academies In The World
UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY, WEST POINT, NEW YORK

UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY, WEST POINT, NEW YORK
The USMA, better known as West Point, is perhaps one of the best and most prestigious military academies in the world. That reputation isn’t taken lightly. Students must not only apply to the school, but almost must receive a nomination from a U.S. Congressman (or woman) in order to be accepted, though non-U.S. citizens are allowed to apply. There is also a strict honor code, and students are expected to not only do well academically, but build military leadership and athletic skills. There is no tuition at West Point, but students must begin active duty with the Army upon graduation. Situated on a picturesque hill overlooking the Hudson River, the school itself is a national landmark and boasts some elite alumni including two presidents, many famous generals, and 74 recipients of the Medal of Honor.

The USNA was established in 1845, and has been educating officers for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps ever since. Located on the former grounds of Fort Severn, the school’s campus is a national landmark and is within easy driving distance to Washington, D.C. Like West Point, students at USNA need endorsement from a member of Congress to get accepted, and while 1,300 enter every year, only about 1,000 ever make it to graduation. In exchange for free tuition, graduates must serve in a branch of the military for at least five years after getting their degrees. Graduates from the USNA have included more than 50 astronauts (six of whom flew to the moon), 46 Rhodes scholars, one president, two Nobel Prize winners, and 73 Medal of Honor recipients.

ROYAL AIR FORCE COLLEGE CRANWELL, SLEAFORD, UNITED KINGDOM
The Royal Air Force College was originally established as a naval aviation training center during World War I, and reached official status as the world’s first air academy in 1919. During World War II, the school stopped exclusively training officers and began working to train as many recruits as possible to fly in the British Air Force. Today, the RAF College has returned to its original purpose and boasts some pretty big names for alumni, including Prince William; Prince Charles; Frank Whittle, a founding father of jet propulsion; and Douglas Bader, a famous flying ace during World War II.

THE SPECIAL MILITARY SCHOOL OF SAINT-CYR, COETQUIDAN, FRANCE

THE SPECIAL MILITARY SCHOOL OF SAINT-CYR, COETQUIDAN, FRANCE
The French Armed Forces may get a good ribbing from other nations, but that doesn’t diminish the prestigious history and reputation of this military academy. Students at Saint-Cyr are put through a rigorous training program, and graduate with an M.A. or M.S. as commissioned officers. The academy was founded in 1803 by Napoleon Bonaparte himself, and the school still uses the motto he coined for the school: “They study to vanquish.” Graduates have fought in nearly every European conflict (and those around the world, as well) since the Napoleonic Wars, and famous French president Charles De Gaulle was a graduate of the school’s prestigious program.

GENERAL STAFF ACADEMY, MOSCOW, RUSSIA

GENERAL STAFF ACADEMY, MOSCOW, RUSSIA
You might not have heard of this school, but its graduates have been at the top of the Russian (and former USSR) military for years. Founded in 1936, the school was intended as a place for the best and the brightest officers of the Soviet Armed Forces to get additional training and eventually rise to the top of the ranks. Unlike many other schools on this list, this academy requires previous military experience, and most are not admitted until they are in their late 30s, with many already holding the rank of Colonel or General.

NATIONAL DEFENSE ACADEMY OF JAPAN, YOKOSUKA, JAPAN

NATIONAL DEFENSE ACADEMY OF JAPAN, YOKOSUKA, JAPAN
Created in 1953, the NDA offers a degree program and training for students who want to be officers in the Japan Self-Defense Force. There are a few differences between this school and others on this list, however. First, students are paid a salary while at school, as they are considered employees of the Ministry of Defense. Second, after graduation, students aren’t done with their training, and will go on to Officer Candidate Schools in a military force of their choosing. Students who are especially interested in academics can also pursue master’s and doctoral degrees through the school, as long as they are endorsed by supervisors. In 1984, Condoleeza Rice visited the school as a professor, and grads include astronauts, government officials, scholars, and high-ranking military officers.

Success Mantra For SSB Interview

0
ssb interview success

Success Mantra For SSB: “One can live without air but cannot without values”. This line is true for our officers as that’s a task of great responsibility. Values are the priorities of life, which suggest how should you spend your time and make it a quality time. Once the priorities of life are decided it gives you utmost clarity in life of what your commitment areas are and you are forced to perform. Thus it leads to improved results and stress free life. Now don’t you think that priorities are important in our life .Yes of course they are because of the following reasons:

ssbinterviewbook
  • The way we are brought up and the surrounding in which we live decides how values and other qualities are shaped. That’s why I always say that everyone has the OLQ’s but the need is to identify them, their degree and work accordingly.
  • We have limited amount of time in life. In fact in this throat cutting world time is the most precious commodity. Those who use it wisely are successful and those who waste it are at loss. Even if you have a lot of money you would not be able to buy time for yourself and for your loved ones. Proper planning is needed for time management as its the toughest think to learn nowadays. As defence aspirants you must realise the value of time and should decide your priority areas to spend it judicially.
  • We also have limited energy to spend. Some people spend it in wrong ways and then are left with disheartened life. Life is a gift of GOD for you and you should thank god for this. Specially for being a human who rides this world and on other species. Life could be beautiful if you learn how to spend your energy wisely.
  • Limited distraction keeps you on track, if you are on track you could actually realise that you are diverting or differing from your success path. Life is known to give limited opportunities, excel in those as everybody is not born with a silver spoon. There would be a lot many things that will come your way to distract, but keep distance away with them.ssb interview success

Now you might be thinking if values are so important how these could be incorporated. Values are something that you get along with your birth, because these are formed as a part of your nourishing only. The way you are brought up, the environment you spend time in design your values. Values develop sense of judging what is important for you in your life. Youth is a age where you either build your future or destroys it. Your behaviour is the reflection of your values and remembers defence aspirants should be highly valued for clearing the SSB. Being a defence personnel you will be in midst of situations where values only will allow you to take firm decisions and that’s why in SSB they prefer to search for them. I remember the very famous quote which suites every aspirant:

3 Golden Rules of Vivekananda:

Who is helping you don’t forget them

Who is loving you, don’t hate them

Who is loving you, don’t cheat them

What An Aspirant Should Have To Clear SSB?

0
What An Aspirant Should Have To Clear SSB

What An Aspirant Should Have To Clear SSB? SSB is different from other exams is a well-known fact but still aspirants prepare for that in the same way as for other exams. This is not justified. I have received multiple queries asking what one should have to clear SSB? Though there are a lot you need to have for clearing the SSB but if a general and mild workout is done on you, you hold a better chance to do that. People are afraid of going to SSB because of the myth that exists in and around the society. The aspirants have the JOSH that is needed but when they start confirming on that part from other sources like friends, etc they get to hear a lot which might not be prevalent in the SSB premises. SSB is just a simple test where you need to be yourself. Speak frankly, is it a difficult task for any individual. We are the ones who know about ourselves better than anyone else. We know the happenings of our life, we know what our habits are, we know how bad or good we can be in society and at most we know what we should change in us to be a good citizen.

In SSB believe me you are just tested 15 OLQ’s. What these olq’s are and how are they revealed, in what round has already been posted by me in another article. I would request aspirants to please refer that. No one will ask you questions you need to prepare beforehand or you need to do hard work for that. I accept, it is expected to be aware of the happenings around you, your country and the world, but is it not the responsibility of the youth to do so and suggest parameters that could lead to the betterment of our country. Rest SSB is a very simple exercise where the officers try to study the synchronisation between your mind, heart and body. If all three are properly synchronised you are the perfect choice for the forces. What An Aspirant Should Have To Clear SSB

The various tests which conducted during your stint at SSB will test these three things only. The screening test is just the gateway to check the mental health and to reduce the crowd and unwanted elements. The non-serious crowd is removed here. The people who stay after getting screen in will be tested for their mind, body and heart. The following is the way:

  • The GTO round simply tests the action of the body on the basis of your thought process which is generated in your mind and heart.
  • The psychological rounds are designed so as to test the ability of thought process that goes in your mind while seeing the things.
  • The Interviewer will check how you are at heart and the synchronisation with what you speak matches with your body or not.

During the last day when all the officers/ assessors meet at the conference, they fight for the synchronisation that these three important parts of your body will go through. You need to individually clear the cut-off for each round and each assessor should individually recommend you for getting selected finally. These tests are designed so that you hardly need to prepare or even if you prepare you will always face the new challenge. SSB are known to change the tests now and then so that only perfect people cross the boundary and get selected. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts. Start preparing hard because its just a simple test and the result leads you to wonders. In my next article, I will focus on the myths that are prevailing and we will face the reality of the SSB ground, till then keep reading!!!

For every little boy, his father is a great hero and for every father, his son is his hope for all the things he couldn’t achieve. As a teenager, we feel confident that one day we will achieve our dreams but then as we grow, we realize that life is sometimes tough and hard. Things worsen when we think it can’t get worse and we see people not as easy with us as we had imagined. And because of these, sometimes we get broken, shattered or low.

As an army Sepoy, a father wanted his son to be an army officer one day. As a son, he too dreamed the same, to be an army officer.  But then he had his first surgery done at the age of 11, then another at 13 and 14. He failed in maths in class 10 and so couldn’t sit for NDA. He prepared for CDS, and cleared the exam but failed at interview, twice.indian army officer inspirational story

When in the third attempt he passed both the exam and the interview, at the medical he was declared medically not fully fit. He gave his medical again, and again was declared as not fully fit. He used his final option of making last appeal and made an appeal for the medical to be done one more time. This time he was declared medically fit and joined the armed forces, fulfilling his and his father’s dream. The medicals were done at Allahabad, Delhi and Chandigarh. During all these exams, interviews and medicals, he traveled a total of more than 20,000 Km’s.
In the academy, he grew to be a sword bearer at the final passing out.
Today he is Lieutenant Aneesh Kumar.

No Oil Hunt In South China Sea : China Warns India

No Oil Hunt In South China Sea China Warns India

No Oil Hunt In South China Sea : China Warns India: As India seeks to further its economic and defence engagement with Vietnam, China has warned New Delhi that it can’t explore oil and gas blocks in South China Sea without seeking Beijing’s approval.

India’s ONGC Videsh Ltd is involved in oil and gas exploration in the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Vietnam.

“Any oil and gas exploration work should get approval first from China,” said a top official of China’s ministry of foreign affairs (MFA). The official added that pending the final settlement of territorial disputes in South China Sea, China would encourage “joint development” in the region.
No Oil Hunt In South China Sea China Warns India
The official made the remark in reply to a query from TOI in a recent meeting – facilitated by the US-based East-West Center – with a group of international journalists. The meeting took at a time of fresh acrimony between the US and China over Beijing’s reclamation and island building in South China Sea. According to US authorities, China has reclaimed 1,500 acres in the Spratly island chain in the past 5 months alone by dredging sand.

US defence secretary Ashton Carter warned China Friday its activities in South China Sea had the potential “to increase the risk of miscalculation or conflict”.

China claims more than 80% of South China Sea as its own through its nine-dash line even though it has not yet bothered to identify the geographical coordinates of this line. With its frantic reclamation in the Spratlys though, Beijing has sparked fear that it may look at imposing an air defence identification zone (ADIZ) over South China Sea in the near future.

The official, however, denied that China was looking to impose ADIZ at this stage saying that the “security situation” was stable for now.

Talking about the border dispute with India, the foreign ministry official said that the two countries should be given credit for the fact that they had not allowed the dispute to impact their ties. “The two countries are in close touch through a bilateral mechanism. We hope to resolve the issue very soon. China and India have the wisdom to resolve the issue by arriving at a fair and equitable solution,” said the official.
