Friends, this article is to get a look of crises going on in Egypt. Demonstrations started in November 2012 and gradually they took face of revolution, president was overthrown by army, resulting clashes between rival groups and a civil unrest grappled the country. This incident has an international importance. So it is good for a SSB candidate to know what is going on there, what led to the situation and what are possible outcomes. Some time in interview directly questions are asked about situation in Egypt while talking about current affairs of international importance. Hope it will add something to your knowledge.

A Glance at the Past

Citizens of Egypt also protested  in 2011 to   overthrow of the regime of  Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. There were also important Islamic, liberal, anti-capitalist, nationalist, and feminist currents of the revolution. Grievances of Egyptian protesters were focused on legal and political issues including brutality, state laws, lack of free elections and freedom of speech, corruption,  and economic issues including high unemployment, food price inflation and low wages. The primary demands from protesters were the end of the Hosni Mubarak regime, the end of emergency law, freedom, justice, a responsive non-military government. Mubarak dissolved his government and stepped down .now after few months On 24 June, Islamist Mohammed Morsi  won the presidential election. On 30 June, Morsi was inaugurated as the 5th President of Egypt. After one year On 3 July 2013 Mohammed Morsi was deposed by a military coup led by General Abdel Fattah El-Sisi after mass opposition protests on 30 June 2013.and clashes are going between pro and anti morsi people and parties. In result Egypt   is facing civil unrest.

Events which lead to present situation

  • In November 2012 the demonstrations started against morsi because he granted himself unlimited powers on name of protecting nation and the power to legislate without judicial oversight. Due to huge resistance he cancelled his decree which had expanded his authority.
  • By 30 June, on the first anniversary of the election of Morsi, millions of Morsi opponents massed in Tahrir Square and outside the main presidential palace demanding Morsi’s resignation. (Morsi belongs to Muslim brother hood party)
  • On the night of 3 July, after a warning 48 hours earlier to intervene, the Egyptian Armed Forces came out with a statement announcing the end of Mohammed Morsi’s presidency it also, announced that the constitution was suspended, that a presidential election would be held soon, the chief justice of the constitutional court,  Adly Mansour, chief justice was appointed interim head of the government . Mohamed Elbaradei was appointed vice president. And hazem el beblawi was appointed interim prime minister.
  • Two major sit ins were held by islamists for more than 5 week period, which forced the government to take action and as a result clashes erupted in Cairo and giza.army siege protesters and arrested islamists spiritual leader mohamad badie. Then Vice President Mohamed Elbaradei resigned in protest over the attacks on pro Mohamed Morsi supporters in Cairo.
  • On 5 September 2013, interior minister Mohamed Ibrahim Mustafa was the target of an assassination attempt; the attempt failed
  • On 6 October 2013, at least 57 were killed and 393 injured across the country when anti-coup protesters and security forces clashed amid celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the start of the 1973 Mideast war with Israel. Pitched battles were fought for hours in some Cairo neighborhoods, where 48 of the 57 fatalities occurred.
  • Violence continued on October 7, as unidentified gunmen attacked an Army convoy west of  Ismailiya  near the Suez, killing all six passengers, including an officer and a lieutenant. Shortly before that a suicide bomber attacked the security headquarters in the Southern Sinai capital of El-Tor, killing three and injuring at least 55.

Conclusion

Egypt has suffered from sporadic violence since the July 3 military coup that removed President Mohamed Morsi from power on the heels of mass protests against his rule. He is being held at an undisclosed military facility on a variety of criminal charges. Egypt’s factions must find a way to bridge their differences and pave the way for a political solution that involves all sides if the country is to leave its current chaos behind.

Dear aspirants, recently Indian army has published the notification of TES fourse, so it is a right time to tell our aspirants about what is 10+2 TES entry of Indian army, its eligibility criteria, selection procedure and many more.

What is TES Technical Entry Scheme

TES stand for Technical Entry Scheme, as the name suggest, it is a technical entry to get into Indian army as an officer. TES is more or less like UES and TGC entries of Indian army, but in case of UES and TGC candidates apply for it after doing their engineering from outside; TES is an opportunity for the aspirants to join the technical branch of Indian army after 10+2 but as per the vacancies candidates can join other fields also like infantry, artillery etc.

Eligibility Criteria for TES Technical Entry Scheme

Age: 16½ years and above 19½ years
Education: candidates who have passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates must write JEE mains to apply for TES.

Type of Commission Through TES Technical Entry Scheme

  • On successful completion of 4 years of the course cadets will be granted Permanent Commission in the Army in the rank of Lt.
  • On successful completion of total 04 years training, the candidates will be commissioned in the rank of Lt. They will be granted seniority on overall order of merit of the three technical institutes combined i.e. CME, MCTE, MCEME and in case the date of commissioning coincides with that of IMA, Dehradun, they will be placed en-block junior to IMA (NDA / ACC / DE Course ) but above TGC / UES course.

Training of TES Technical Entry Scheme

Total training will be 5 years, Details as under:
  1. Basic Military Training : 1 year (Officer Training Academy Gaya).
  2. Technical Training:
    • Phase-I (Pre Commission Training): 3 Years (CME Pune, MCTE Mhow and MCEME Secunderabad)
    • Phase-II (Post Commission Training): 1 year at CME Pune, MCTE Mhow and MCEME Secunderabad.
    • Award of Degree: TThe candidates will be awarded Engineering degree after successful completion of the final examination. No ante date will be admissible to candidates on account of this Engineering degree. During the last two semesters, the officers will be permitted only one relegation on academic grounds. This relegation will be within the maximum two relegations permitted on academic grounds in the entire Engineering degree (8 semesters) in accordance with JNU Ordinance. Any further relegation of the officer on academic grounds will lead to termination of his commission. Note. Candidates must understand that in case of final selection, their appointment will be provisional subject to satisfactory verification of antecedents by concerned civil/police/education authorities, as applicable.

Selection Procedure for TES Technical Entry Scheme

  1. Short listed candidates will be called for Services Selection Board (SSB) interview at Bhopal, Bangalore or Allahabad.
  2. Duration of SSB interviews is five days excluding day of arrival. During their stay at SSB, Candidates are put through psychological Test, Group test and Interviews.
  3. Candidates will be put through stage – I of the selection procedure on the first day. Only successful candidates shall be retained for balance of the testing. Candidates who fail to qualify in stage – I, will be returned on the first day itself, Stage I are psychologically originated test including intelligence test.
  4. Successful candidates at the SSB will be required to undergo medical test lasting 3 to 5 days less Sundays and gazetted holidays.
  5. Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available.
  6. The finally selected candidates will execute all the Bonds/Certificates as prescribed for the Cadets of NDA entry under Al 53/78.
  7. Candidates appering for SSB interview for the first time for a particular type of commission shall be entitled for AC III tier to and fro railway fare or bus fare including reservation cum sleeper charges within the Indian limits. Candidates who apply again for the same type of commission will not entitled to travelling allowance on any subsequent occasion.

Indian Army has published the notification of 10+2 TES-31th (10+2) Technical Entry Scheme Course July 2014 on joinindianarmy.nic.in website.  Applications are invited from unmarried Male Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects, for the grant of Permanent Commission in the Army after 4 years of Basic Military Training and Technical Training thereafter with the terms and conditions given in the 10+2 TES 31 notification.

Eligibility Criteria for TES-31th (10+2) Entry Army

  • Age: Not below 16½ years and above 19½ years
  • Educational Qualification: Passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized education boards.

Final cut off marks for TES-31th for SSB Interviews

  • Cut off marks of TES-30th Army was 82% and above, cut off marks for SSB Interview of TES-31th (10+2) entry would remain between 80% -85%.
  • All candidates with minimum 70% in PCM can apply for this entry.

TES 31 10+2 Army Selection Procedure?

  1. Short listed candidates will be called for SSSB interview at Bhopal, Bangalore or Allahabad Feb/Mar 2014 onward.
  2. SSB interview of five days.
  3. Recommended candidates would undergo medical testing lasting 3 to 5 days.
  4. All merit in candidates will be appointed for training in the order of merit.
  5. Basic military training for 1 year at OTA Gaya (Officer Training Academy Gaya).
  6. 3 Years of technical training at CME Pune, MCTE Mhow and MCEME Secunderabad.
  7. Post commission training of 1 year at CME Pune, MCTE Mhow and MCEME Secunderabad.

How to Apply for 10+2  TES-31th Indian Army

  1. Application will only be accepted on line. To do so the candidates needs to click on the “online application” button on website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in
  2. Candidates must enter their particulars in the online application. Terms and conditions linked to the form must be read, prior to submitting the form 
  3. After submitting the form an acknowledgement with a Roll number will be provided to the candidate. If the system does not generate Roll Number, it is an indication of non acceptance of application by the system.
  4. After submitting online application, candidates are required to obtain two copies of the application printout and the Roll Number generated by the system. One copy of the print out application duly Signed and affixed photograph attested by a gazatted officer of Central/State Govt, photocopies of Class 10th Certificate/Mark sheet showing date of birth and 12th Class Certificate alongwith mark sheets duly attested by Gazetted officer and all the above certificates in original are to be carried to the Selection Centre by the candidate for the SSB interview. Any candidate who does not carry all these document for the SSB interview, his candidature will be cancelled. The second copy of the printout of online appllication is to retained by the candidate for his reference. 
  5. No need to send any hard copy to DG Rtg / Rtg Dte.
  6. Candidates must submit only one application, Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature.
  7. ONLINE APPLICATION WILL OPEN ON 22 OCT 2013 AT 1000 HRS AND WILL BE CLOSED ON 29 NOV 2013 AT 1000 HRS.

  • Any change in your postal address after submission of application must be communicated by post duly quoting your Roll No, name and course opted for.
  • All original certificates along with two attested copies each Will be carried by the candidate for SSB interview. Originals will be returned after verification at the Service Selection Board itself.

It will help everyone to brush up his knowledge on various issues and also to prepare for SSB interview. Today topic is Indus Water treaty.

Introduction:-The Indus Waters Treaty is a water-sharing treaty between Pakistan and India, brokered by the World Bank . The treaty was signed in Karachi on September 19, 1960 by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and President of Pakistan Mohammad  Ayub Khan. The treaty was a result of Pakistan’s fear that since the source rivers of the Indus basin were in India, it could potentially create droughts and famines in Pakistan, especially at times of war. However, India did not revoke the treaty during any of three later Indo-Pakistani Wars.

Major points about the treaty are:-
  1. It is also called IWT 1960. It was signed between India and Pakistan for sharing of river water in 1960. Since Pakistan was created as separate state for Muslims, so water resources of India were to be shared .our leaders thought that it will create a goodwill environment among the neighbor countries.
  2. There are 6 rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Satluj. Out of 6 three rivers enter Pakistan after traversing some distance in India. According to treaty Indus, Jhelum, Chennab were given to Pakistan. And Ravi, Beas and Satluj were given to India.
  3. Pakistan wanted to create network of canals and to have control on rivers although all of these rivers originates in India. To develop this network money was given by World Bank, USA, Canada, and India also supported it. Thus World Bank became guarantor for the treaty.
  4. Bone of contention: Baglihar power project and tul-bul project
    • Baglihar power project:-India is constructing a power project on Chennab in Doda district of Jammu to produce 450 MW of hydroelectricity. Pakistan objected to our construction because of the height, design and gate system of the project Pakistan said it have right over the river according to IWT1960. It approached World Bank. World Bank appointed scientists to study the project and to suggest modification. India was to reduce height by 1.5 m and work was not stopped.
    • Tul-bul project:- we do not agree even with its name India call it Tul Bul project  and Pakistan  call it Wooler Barrage. It is a project on Jhelum River; we wanted to raise the level of water in Jhelum River during lean season by diverting its water into woolar lake in earlier months. The talks are on to resolve issue which is pending since 1987.
Conclusion: – Since the ratification of the treaty in 1960, India and Pakistan have not engaged in any water wars. Disagreements and disputes have been settled via legal procedures, provided for within the framework of the treaty. The treaty is considered to be one of the most successful water sharing Endeavours in the world today.  Our government has promised that we will abide by the IWT of 1960 in spite of the hurdles.

India and Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT)

Introduction:-After independence India had a very idealistic foreign policy. In 1954, India supported a total ban on nuclear weapons. But wars of 1965(indo-pak war) and 1962(India-china war) with two of its neighbors forced India to strengthening its defense and India refused to sigh NPT i.e. Non Proliferation treaty. India found it discriminatory as it was binding only on non nuclear countries while the nuclear weapon states were not bound to adhere to disarmament.

Some aspects of NPT are:
  • Objectives: The NPT is commonly described as having three main “pillars”: non-proliferation, disarmament, and peaceful use. Of nuclear energy.
  • There were two types of states. Nuclear and non nuclear.
  • All permanent members of Security Council are signatories to NPT, France and China also signed it in 1992.
  • Cuba, India, Pakistan, and Israel are not signatories and North Korea too moved out of it.
  • According to it ns will not transfer nuclear weapons and technology to non nuclear nations.
  • IAEA international Atomic Energy Agency was given responsibility to ensure that peaceful technology does not shift to military purpose.
  • 1995 extension of treaty allows NWS to retain their nuclear arsenal indefinitely.
  • Discriminatory nature of NPT:-no serious disarmament, violation by China helping French , Britain and Israel, Two sets of rules verification for NWS and NNWS.
  • Reasons for India’s opposition to NPT:
    • Discriminatory treaty
    • Failed to address nuclear proliferation
    • India’s nuclear security concerns not addressed
    • Nuclear weapons were not completely eliminated.
Conclusion
In 1998 India successfully conducted nuclear tests at Pokhran keeping in mind our national security. This led to criticism by many countries, led by USA imposed sanctions against India. These sanctions seriously affected our nuclear programme even for peaceful uses such as nuclear energy. To overcome this India signed indo-us nuclear deal. But India still continues to resist the call by some countries to sign NPT as it considers it as unfair and discriminatory.

SSC-CGL (Combined Graduate Level)

Staff Selection Commission conducts Combined Graduate Level Examination, for recruitment to different posts every year. The Graduation from a recognized University is the minimum Educational Qualification for the examination. The eligible candidate can apply for the posts in usually February 2013. SSC graduate level recruitment is completed in three phases. CGL recruitment is categorized in two groups. First group for which interview test will be conducted and for 2nd group post their will be no interview test will be conducted. For example an interview cum personality test will be conducted for assistant post in various departments, inspector of income tax/central excise/preventive officer/examiner/Post/narcotics, CBI SI, Divisional accountant, statistical Investigator Grade II. Scheme of Examination
The Examination is conducted in three tiers as indicated below:
  • Tier -I — Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type) 200 marks
  • Tier -II — Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type) 400 marks
  • Tier -III — Personality Test cum Interview/Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification & Descriptive/on-line test of qualifying nature. 100 marks.

SSC-CPO (Central Police Organizations)

SSC declares Examination for Recruitment of S.I in CPOs, A.S.I in CISF and I.O in NCB every year. So this is a nice opportunity for candidates who wish to join CPO, CPF or NCB as SI and ASI. First of all I want to make an Introduction about Selection Processes for SSC CPO EXAM for SI, ASI and IO Positions in CPO, CPF and NCB. SSC CPO Exam will be conduct in three phases i.e. SSC CPO Written Test, SSC CPO Physical Endurance Test (PET) and SSC CPO Medical Test. And candidates qualified in all phases will be taken for the Posts of S.I in CPOs, A.S.I in CISF & I.O in NCB.
  • SSC CPO Written Test for SI, ASI and IO Positions in CPO, CPF and NCB: SSC CPO written Test for the posts of Sub Inspector, Assistant Sub Inspector and Intelligence Officers consist of two papers PAPER-I and PAPER-II. PAPER-I is of Two hours duration from 10.00A.M. to 12.00 Noon. This section will be of 200 marks and consists of 200 questions in for sections each section will be of equal marks and equal no. of questions which means that each section will consist of 50 questions and 50 marks. This Paper will be on both Hindi and English language. sections are:-
    • General Intelligence  and  Reasoning  Test
    • General Knowledge and General Awareness Test
    • Numerical Aptitude Test
    • English  Comprehension Test
  • PAPER-II for SSC CPO Exam will only consist of subject English language & Comprehension Test. This phase will be also of two hours duration and will be conduct from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM. In this paper for SSC CPO Exam there will be 200 questions and consists of 200 marks also. Both papers will be have Objective Multiple Choice Type questions only in SSC CPO SI and ASI Exam. There will be negative marking also which means for each wrong answer you made wrong will cause Deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • SSC CPO Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Medical Test: Candidates will have to undergo PET / MEDICAL Examination. Only those candidates who secure qualifying marks in Paper I of the written examination, as may be fixed by the Commission at their discretion, and It is also required to clear Eligibility and Physical Endurance Test (PET) and medical test, for to be called for the Personality Test / Interview based on their combined performance in Paper I and II of the written examination.
  • AGE LIMITS:- for the post of Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police, CAPFs, and Assistant Sub Inspector in CISF and Intelligence Officer in NCB is 20-25 years.
  • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: – bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent.

CAPF Central Armed Police Forces

The UPSC conducts Central Police Force Examinations every year to recruit Assistant Commandments (Group A) in Central Police Forces. The examination is conducted in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Gazette of India.
  • Age limit is 20 to 25 years.
  • Educational Qualification:-Degree of a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
The recruitment is done under the five main categories:-
  • Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  • Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
  • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
Selection Procedure and Syllabus of the Examination
The Selection Procedure/Scheme of the Exam is as follows:
  • Written Examination: The written examination to be conducted by Union PublicService Commission will be held on 11th November, 2012 and will comprise twopapers. Paper I will be held from 10 a.m. to 12.00 Noon and Paper II will be held from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  • Paper I : General Ability and Intelligence – 250 Marks the questions in this paper will be of Objective (Multiple Answers) Type in which the questions will be set in English as well as Hindi.
  • Paper II : General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – 200 Marks In this paper candidates will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or Hindi, but the medium of Précis Writing, Comprehension Components and their communications/language skills will be English only.
  • Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests:- Candidates who for Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests.  Those candidates who meet the prescribed Physical Standards.
  • Interview/personality test:-interview carries 150 marks and only medically fit candidates are interviewed by upsc board.

Difference between UES and TES

Difference between UES and TES

UES and TES are two different entry schemes to the Indian Army. However most of the aspirants face a dilemma as what is actually the difference between these two schemes. It is the duty of SSBCrack Editorial team to get rid of all such doubts and dilemmas from the minds of Aspirants.

TES (10+2) Entry

The entry is restricted only to unmarried young men having an age between 16 and 19. TES basically stands for Technical Entry Scheme. The selected cadets are given B.tech degree from institutes like MCEME, MCE etc.
  • Vacancies: 85 (Not Fixed)
  • Age: 16- 19 Yrs
  • Qualifications: 10+2 Physics, Chemistry, Maths ( PCM aggregate must be above 70% to apply)
  • Marital Status: Unmarried Men
  • Usual Months of Notification: April and September
  • Training Academy: IMA Dehradun, Respective training centres( MCEME, MCE etc)
  • Duration : 5 Yrs( 4 Yrs Eng degree, 1 Yr pre commission training at OTA, Gaya) 
Difference between UES and TES

University Entry Scheme( Graduate Level)

This is also a technical entry to the Indian Army. Only those who are studying in Engineering Final Year or Pre- Final Year are admitted.
  • Vacancies: 60 (Not Fixed)
  • Age: 19 – 25 Yrs
  • Qualifications: Final and Pre Final Year students of Engineering  Degree
  • Martial Status: Unmarried Men
  • Usual Months of Notification: April and October
  • Training Academy: IMA Dehradun
  • Duration: One Year
