The Services Selection Board Interview (SSB Interview) is a selection period spanned over five days for the candidates who have cleared their defence entrance examination. It tests the candidates on their intelligence and personality. The interview is divided into two stages:

  1. Stage one includes Officer Intelligence Rating and Picture Perception and Description.
  2. Stage two includes the interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, psychology tests and a conference.

The SSB Interview is not an easy one. Many candidates do not clear the interview in their first attempt.

How should female candidates dress for the SSB Interview?

Female candidates can carry Indian or Western formals. While deciding what to wear, one should keep in mind that this is a formal space and one needs to dress accordingly and appropriately.

You can carry three pairs of formals for the screening day, interview and conference. Keep in mind to keep the kurta sleeve length either till the elbows or till the wrists. A simple plain kurta will do. For the other days, you can carry formal Polo t-shirts and trousers.

Avoid carrying informal wear like round-neck t-shirts. Also keep in mind to carry long pyjamas and decent t-shirts, nothing low-neck, for the nights and avoid wearing shorts.

If wearing Western formals, you can opt for a light-coloured full-sleeved shirt and a pair of dark trousers.

In both cases, shoes worn should be closed toed.

For group tasks and physical fitness tests, one can carry a tracksuit. With the tracksuit, one can wear white sports shoes or white PT shoes and calf length socks.

Women candidates can tie their hair in a bun or make a single braid to avoid hair coming in your face and causing a distraction.

There really is no necessity to wear makeup. If you wish to apply makeup anyway, something as simple as kajal will do. Keep in mind this is a formal interview and your selection into the armed forces is dependant on it.

No one is judging you for your makeup skills but instead you are being tested on your intelligence and personality. Moreover, performing various tasks will cause you to start sweating and that leads to makeup melting.

Constantly worrying about your makeup smudging will not give a professional appeal and can hinder your chances of getting selected.

When it comes to accessories, it is best to avoid wearing any jewellery or watches, the main reason being that jewellery like earring and necklaces can get lost and watches can hinder performances in group tasks and physical fitness tests.

In conclusion, wearing makeup is not a must and in some bit, is discouraged. Just focus on your interview and ace all the tasks that the board puts in front of you.

Military Nursing Service Exam 2022 Eligibility Criteria

(a) Female candidates who are unmarried/divorcee/legally separated/widow without encumbrances.
(b) Nationality – Citizen of India
(c) Date of Birth – Born between 01 Oct 1997 and 30 Sep 2005 (both days inclusive).
(d) Educational Qualification – Candidates must have passed in the first attempt, Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent (12 Years schooling) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English with not less than 50% aggregate marks as a regular student from a Statutory / Recognized Board /University/ Examination Body. Military Nursing Service Exam 2021 Selection Procedure

Selection: The shortlisted candidates based on merit of NEET (UG) score will be called for an Objective Computer Based Test (CBT) of General Intelligence and General English (ToGIGE) of 80 marks. Thereafter, the candidates will be subjected to a Psychological Assessment Test (PAT), Interview and Medical Examination at a designated venue.

Final Selection:

Final selection will be based on the combined merit of NEET (UG) 2022 score, CBT, and Interview, subject to medical fitness.

Test Centres

The candidates are required to choose the examination centre from the list of centres provided while filling the online application form. Allotment of centers wil be on “first apply-first allot” basis. Major Raghunath Ahlawat, lost his life in the line of duty in Uri, Baramulla on 5th May 2022. Late Major Raghunath Ahlawat, was leading his team for a Counter Infiltration Operation based on reliable intelligence input. To identify a safe approach for the team he led from the front while carrying out reconnaissance on a route through a steep cliff.

Unfortunately, he slipped due to bad weather and slippery conditions and fell 60 meters into a ravine. Critically injured, he succumbed to his injuries enroute while being evacuated to the nearest Army Hospital.

Late Major Raghunath Ahlawat, was 34 years old and was commissioned into the Army in 2012. He hails from Dwarka, New Delhi, and is survived by his wife and his parents.

Indian Army has published the TGC 136 notification (Technical Graduate Course) for male engineering graduates on 11 May 2022 and the last date to apply for the TGC 136 entry will be 09 June 2022. TGC 136 Recruitment 2022 by the Indian Army will give an opportunity to male engineering students to join the Indian Military Academy and get commissioned into the army as an officer. Indian army has published the short notification for TGC 136 also known as Technical Graduate Course 136 for male engineering graduates. Applications are invited from eligible unmarried Male Engineering Graduates for 136th Technical Graduate Course (TGC-136) commencing in Jan 2023 at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun for Permanent Commission in the Indian Army.

TGC 136 Eligibility

Nationality: A candidate must either be : – (i) A citizen of India, or (ii) a subject of Nepal, or (iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Government of India. TGC 136 Age Limit: 20 to 27 years as on 01 Jan 2023. (Candidates born between 02 Jan 1996 and 01 Jan 2003, both dates inclusive).

The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination Certificate or an Equivalent Examination Certificate on the date of submission of application will only be accepted. No other document relating to age will be accepted and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

TGC 136 Educational Qualification for Applying: Candidates who have passed the requisite Engineering Degree course or are in the final year of Engineering Degree course are eligible to apply. Candidates studying in the final year of Engg degree course should be able to submit proof of passing Engg Degree Examination alongwith marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 Jan 2023 and produce the Engg Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at Indian Military Academy (IMA). Such candidates will be inducted on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training at IMA as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate.

ALL FINAL YEAR APPEARING CANDIDATES WHOSE FINAL YEAR/ FINAL SEMESTER EXAM WILL BE SCHEDULED AFTER 01 Jan 2023 ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS COURSE. Candidates, who have yet to pass their degree examination will be eligible only if they are studying in the final year of degree examination. Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the final year Degree Examination and are allowed to appear for SSB, should note that this is only a special concession given to them. They are required to submit proof of passing Engg Degree Examination alongwith all marksheets towards the Engg Degree Examination by the above prescribed date and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of basic qualifying University Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other grounds whatsoever.

For induction to Pre Commission Training Academy, after final selection, the minimum educational qualification is passing BE/B.Tech degree in the Engineering streams notified below at Para 3. To become eligible for induction into TGC-136 course at IMA Dehradun, candidates studying in final year of engineering are required to submit proof of passing Engg Degree Examination alongwith marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 Jul 2022 to Directorate General of Recruiting and ensure that the cumulative percentage of marks upto final semester/ year is not less than the approved cut off percentage, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.

Final semester/year studying candidates will be provisionally allowed to appear in SSB; subject to following conditions:- (a) Their cumulative percentage of marks upto 6th semester/3rd year of Engg degree, upto 8th semester/4th year of B. Architecture (B.Arch) and upto 2nd semester/1st year of M.Sc in notified equivalent stream/ discipline is not below the approved cut off percentage in their respective streams. (b) After declaration of final results, the cumulative percentage of marks up to final semester/ year of degree course will also be not less than the approved cut off percentage, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.

Candidates studying in final year/semester of Engg degree course should not have any backlog at the time of submission of application. Any candidate if found having backlog will not be allowed to appear in SSB interview and candidature of such candidates will be cancelled.

TGC 136 Vacancies: 40 Vacancies in total, Candidates must note that only the Engineering streams and their acceptable equivalent streams, strictly as notified in the table below, will be accepted. Candidates with degrees in any other Engineering stream(s) are not eligible to apply. Any variation between the nomenclature of Engineering stream as given on the degree parchment / marksheet and that submitted by the candidate in his online application will result in cancellation of candidature.

Recommended candidates of TGC-136th course (Jan 2023) whose merit is not within the number of allotted vacancies of respective Engineering streams, may be offered to join Short Service Commission (Tech) Course (April 2023), subject to meeting all other eligibility conditions.

TGC 136 Type of Commission

  • Grant of Commission. Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lt from the date of commencement of the course or
    the date of reporting at IMA, whichever is later and will be entitled to full pay and allowances admissible to Lt during training period. Pay & allowances will be paid after successful completion of training.
  • Permanent Commission. On successful completion of training cadets will be granted Permanent Commission in the Army in the rank of Lt.
  • Ante Date Seniority. One year ante date seniority from the date of commission will be granted to Engineering Graduates of TGC Entry in the rank of Lt.

TGC 136 Training: Selected candidates will be detailed for training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun according to their position in the final order of merit, engineering stream-wise upto the number of vacancies available at the time. (b) Duration of training – 49 weeks.

TGC 136 How to Apply (a) Applications will only be accepted online on website “www.joinindianarmy.nic.in”. Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’. Fill the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully. After getting registered, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard. A page ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’ will open. Then click ‘Apply’ shown against Technical Graduate Course. A page ‘Application Form’ will open. Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue’ to fill details as required under various segments. Personal information, Communication details, Education details and details of previous SSB. ‘Save & Continue’ each time before you go to the next segment. After filling details on the last segment, you will move to a page ‘Summary of your information’ wherein you can check and edit the entries already made. Then click on ‘Submit Now’ only after carefully ascertaining that the correct details have been filled in. Candidates must click ‘Submit Now’ each time they open the application for editing. The candidates are required to take out two copies of their application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application on last day.

CGPA/Grades must be converted into Marks as per the formulae adopted by the concerned University for filling ‘Marks obtained in Graduation’ in online application. Any discrepancy observed at any stage of selection process will lead to cancellation of candidature.

TGC 136 Selection Procedure: The selection procedure is as follows:-

(a) Short listing of Applications. Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cutoff percentage of marks for each Engineering discipline/stream (cumulatively obtained upto 6th semester for Engg Degree course/ 2nd semester for M Sc. Computer science/ 8th semester for Architecture) without assigning any reason. After shortlisting of applications, the centre allotment will be intimated to the candidate via their email. After allotment of Selection Centre, candidates will have to login to the website and select their SSB dates which are available on a first come first served basis, upto a specified date as will be intimated on the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

(b) Only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cutoff percentage will be interviewed at one of the Selection Centres viz. Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bangalore (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Call Up letter for SSB interview will be issued by respective Selection Centres through candidate’s registered e-mail id and SMS only. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of DG Rtg, IHQ MoD (Army) and NO request for changes are entertained in this regard.

(c) Candidates will be put through two stage selection procedure at the SSB. Those who clear Stage I will go to Stage II. Those who fail in Stage I will be returned on the same day. Duration of SSB interviews is five days, and details of the same are available at official website of Dte Gen of Rtg www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. This will be followed by a medical examination of the candidates who get recommended after Stage II.

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, will be issued Joining Letter for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.

TGC 136 MERIT LIST: IT IS TO BE NOTED THAT MERE QUALIFYING AT THE SSB INTERVIEW DOES NOT CONFIRM FINAL SELECTION. MERIT LIST WILL BE PREPARED ENGINEERING STREAM/SUBJECT WISE ON THE BASIS OF THE MARKS OBTAINED BY THE CANDIDATE AT SSB INTERVIEW. HIGHER EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, PREVIOUS PERFORMANCES, NCC BACKGROUND, ETC HAVE NO ROLE TO PLAY. THOSE IN THE MERIT LIST AND WHO COME WITHIN THE STIPULATED STREAM WISE VACANCIES, AND ARE MEDICALLY FIT WILL BE ISSUED JOINING LETTERS FOR PRE-COMMISSIONING TRAINING AT IMA DEHRADUN.

6 Must Follow Tips For Personal Interview In SSB Interview

For candidates, the personal interview which is also called PI is the key factor and a game changer as well. Most of us take it as normal and do not put effort to get more marks in PI, though it is not necessary to do something extraordinary and additional efforts, still, there are do’s which every candidate must follow in the personal interview.

Why Personal Interview is Crucial

  1. IO [Interviewing Officer], is the only person in the whole SSB who talks with you for more than 40- 50 mins continuously, related to your personal life, goals, attachments, success, failures, and whatnot. In other words, he has more information about you compared to any other accessor in the board.
  2. He will come to know, what you are, from what you speak in front of him.
  3. He knows your failures and hardships you have faced in your life, in short, he can decide whether you have the potential to become an officer in the Indian armed forces or not.
  4. He can convince GTO if your GTO marks are less, only if he finds you mentally stronger.

We can not fool a person who talks with us continuously for 40 -50 mins that too with back-to-back questions. IOs are experienced like anything, they might know your answer before you open your mouth. In short, if you go without preparation, you will cut short your chances of getting in.

Tips for Personal Interview in SSB

  1. Look smart, cheerful, and enthusiastic.
  2. Be audible but not too loud and appear keen to speak and respond to the questions.
  3. Sit straight and comfortable, do not fidget, and do not keep moving your hands and legs as it may distract the interviewer from your responses.
  4. If you have not understood anything politely ask for clarification or to repeat the question.
  5. Be clear about facts and figures regarding your biodata, and marks obtained. ranking in competitive exams, dates, name of school/institute, teachers, friends etc.
  6. “ I do not remember” on aspects pertaining to your life, shows you in poor light.
  7. You are expected to be aware so as to touch upon current events if asked.

I hope everyone out there is going on pretty well with their SSB preparations. As we all are aware of the fact that the first and the foremost test in the SSB interview is the screening test comprising of intelligence tests (verbal and nonverbal) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT).

We would like to bring to your notice a few common and dispensable mistakes that candidates commit during the Screening Test and end up going home the first day.

Top Ten Reasons For Getting Screened Out

  1. Not being attentive to the briefing given by the officials. As a result, candidates ask irrelevant doubts and make their case worse in front of the authorities in the SSB.
  2. Not coming prepared for the Intelligence Tests. You might be a rank holder in your school/college but when it comes to solving basic level intelligence questions within a fixed time, you have to come thoroughly prepared.
  3. Copying or talking during the OIR tests can also land you in turbulent waters. You might think that you are really smart to befuddle the authorities present, but the truth is that every candidate is being watched and any kind of aberrant action will be dealt with accordingly.
  4. Not being able to interpret the picture correctly in PPDT. The time is given to perceive a story in PPDT is just 30 seconds. If you do not focus at the picture, you will end up digging your own grave. Such candidates more often than not end up finishing their story incomplete.
  5. Making a wishful story is no way related to the picture. We just cannot anticipate the amount of expertise the assessors possess; they catch any sort of concocted story in a flash.
  6. Not reading out the story properly and being nervous during the narration. Any undulations and jitteriness in the voice will catch and will work against you. There is no substitute for practice in this case.
  7. Not qualitatively contributing to the group discussion during the PPDT GD. You are required to cooperate with the group and then come to a common story. I know there would be people making things worse but believe you me, the genuine effort gets rewarded sooner or later.
  8. Repeating your own story and not listening to other group members’ point of view. It is really hot and intense during the GD, but that’s precisely the challenge. You ought to control your nerves during the GD.
  9. Being adamant about your own points and not being acceptable of the ideas of other group members. This will only create a negative image of you in the minds of the assessors.
  10. Overpowering the Group, Trying to impose your ideas on others. This is one thing which candidate knowingly or unknowingly does during the group discussions. You do not become a gentleman by mere addressing each other as a gentleman. Your demeanor should reflect that you are a gentleman in the true sense.

Lieutenant General Baggavalli Somashekar Raju will take over as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff on 01 May 2022. An alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur and National Defence Academy, he was commissioned in the JAT Regiment on 15th December 1984.

He commanded his Battalion during OP PARAKRAM in the Western Theatre and in Jammu & Kashmir. He also holds the distinction of commanding the Uri brigade along the Line of Control, a Counter Insurgency Force and the Chinar Corps in the Kashmir Valley. The General Officer also served as the Commandant, Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan.

During his illustrious career spanning 38 years, he has tenanted many important regimental, staff and instructional appointments in the Army Head Quarters and in field formations to include, Colonel Military Secretary Legal in Military Secretary branch, Brigadier General Staff of the operationally active White Knight Corps, Deputy Director General Military Operations & Director General Staff Duties.

Prior to taking over as  the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, the General Officer was tenanting the appointment of Director General Military Operations during the standoff on the LAC. The General officer is a qualified helicopter pilot having carried out operational flying in Somalia, as part of UNOSOM II. He is is also the Colonel of the JAT Regiment.

Indian army has published the list of recommended candidates who have cleared the SSB interview for SSC 58 Men technical entry. SSC Tech is a special entry for engineering graduates that allows them to apply for the SSB interview directly without any written exam. All the candidates on the merit list will get the joining instructions as per the order in the merit list. The course was scheduled to start at OTA Chennai in April 2022. There are 53 male candidates who have cleared the SSB interview of SSC 58 technical entry, most of the branches are vacant this time and no one got recommended in those branches.
