Hello Friends, My name is Pranav Sahni and I am from Jammu. This was my first SSB attempt and got recommended in the same. My parents are teachers and I have done my schooling from Delhi Public School Jammu and right now I am pursuing B.Tech from IIT(BHU) Varanasi. The lifestyle of an officer has always attracted me and therefore the dream to have stars on my shoulders. When I gave my written exam for NDA, I knew I was going to make the cutoff and thus right after my JEE Advanced exam, I started preparing for my SSB. I didn’t take any coaching so internet (especially ssbcrack.com) was my guide. Reading weekly magazines helped me a lot too. I recommend India Today and Outlook as they give you a good insight into things happening around you in small press notes. One most important thing that I realized during my personal interview was the importance of introspection. Most of the questions were asked about myself only and the decisions I had taken in life and the reasons behind them. SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]
My SSB was going to be conducted in SCE Allahabad, or as it is known – ‘the Rejection Centre’. My reporting was on 18th August and the SSB went on from 19th to 23rd August. The batch was of 79 students and only 24 got screened in, the first day. The next four days were fun. In psychology, I couldn’t attempt many questions in SRTs but I made sure that I do well in other tests.
I remember there was one picture showing a man covered from toe to head with a white sheet for which I assumed him to be dead man and wrote a story related to it, but after our tests, many of my friends told me that I took it into a negative mood and I should have assumed him to be sick (Just for you guys to know, 3 out of 4 who got recommended from my batch wrote a story for a dead man). So, never try to change the situation of a story and instead try to change a negative mood into a positive one. My personal interview went very well. The IO asked me a lot of questions about myself, my family, education, IIT vs NDA, current affairs and GK.
From Kerela Floods to Article 35A, I knew answers of all the questions (all thanks to daily newspaper and magazine readings). The GTO tasks were the most fun part of SSB. I knew a lot of facts and figures for the topics of GD and I always tried to give my suggestions and implement other’s too in the obstacles. My lecturette went very well too as I spoke on my first topic-‘Coalition Government’ that too in the given time frame. I knew I had done great in GTO tasks as I was given one of the most difficult command task where I had to find six different ways of completing it and that too with the GTO constantly trying to confuse me by asking me math problems like 25*25, 35+7, etc.
I was very happy when I completed the task in the given time. On the 5th day, when my chest number was finally called, the feeling was just something else. I was the only fresher to get recommended from my batch. My medical tests went on for another week and I have been declared fit for the army. So, I am now just waiting for the final merit list.
To sum it all up, even if you are a fresher and haven’t took any coaching, you can still make the cut only if you are completely dedicated to joining the defence forces. Just keep reading newspapers and magazines, and try talking in English with your friends, family or even to yourself on almost any topic you can find and be as original and normal as you can be during those 5 days.

“The seven men have been dismissed from services and have been sentenced to life imprisonment. For 24 years I have never once lost faith in Indian democracy, Indian judiciary system and the Indian Army.
The Army court’s judgement has come after the then AASU vice-president Jagadish Bhuyan fought for justice single handed in Gauhati High Court that first led to a CBI probe ordered by the court. The central investigating agencies charge-sheeted the seven Army men based on which the Supreme Court ordered the court martial. The court martial had begun on July 16 and concluded on July 27.
The Army has given exemplary punishment to its own officers and men on finding them guilty and this has amplified the glory of the Army and increased people’s trust on the Army.”

Hello friends I am Sunny Kumar Singh. I am from U.P, Varanasi. I got recommended from 19 SSB Allahabad in my 4th attempt for NDA-141. I am one of the simplest persons you will ever meet in your life A person who has been a mediocre throughout his life. A person who is just average. My journey started in army public school Bathinda when I cleared my NDA in my first short for NDA-138 when I was 12th appearing. SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]
Got conferenced out from 14 SSB Allahabad. I was totally shattered. I still remember the words of my chemistry teacher who said I will never make it (which was true at that time. I wasn’t worth it) and it was just the starting to a never-ending journey called LIFE! I boast about the fact that I am person who is self-made and self-taught. After my first SSB I introspected myself and improved and just kept repeating it. I decided to join Chandigarh university and started pursuing CSE and even volunteered for NCC. Then I got a call for TES-38 and then got screened out from Kapurthala. At this point, I actually started doubting my skills and even though I am more suitable for some other career. A phase of life that people would never like to live. I was living an aimless life. I thought this is the worst phase of my life but my fate had a lot more…. I got a call for TES-39 at Bhopal… I was in a dilemma that whether I should even give it a short or not, finally went for it and it held nothing more than a disappointment … I got conferenced out again. I that time released if you are going for an SSB either you go prepared or you don’t go.
I started my preparation for next NDA written focused my approach on tips and tricks for mathematics because to clear NDA you need speed and accuracy. I used to study from YouTube and at the same time was able to manage a balanced college life had a decent score in my semesters. I made it … and from here there was no going back… things started to work out… I changed my schedule completely started living a more disciplined and punctual life I again started my preparation from scratch. My ANO (Associate NCC officer) started guiding me. I use to spend hours practicing my TAT and WAT skills. I use to imagine my interview and use to prepare my answers (My interview went exactly the same… the way I imagined). I use to prepare for my GTO from YouTube… use to watch videos and draw structures on pen and paper… and imagined myself doing those… I still consider my biggest strength is to have an optimistic approach in life… throughout the process, I never gave up … had faith on myself that I will make it for sure… and then on 7 sept 2018 I got Recommended from 19 SSB Allahabad. I knew this was my last shot and I have to make sure that it’s the best one… The only difference between my past 3 attempts and this one was preparation. I was more prepared this time.
Patience is the key everybody in this world has a different clock and a different time … wait for your time and when it’s your time there is no stopping you. I never wanted to write this post… but was asked by a close friend to do so… So, thank you Dherian. And thank you to all of you for considering this worth reading.
