Indian Army Recruitment BIHAR & JHARKHAND 2017 – Apply Online for Solider Posts: Indian army is going to conduct the open bharti recruitment rally for soldiers in Bihar and Jharkhand zone in Nov 2017.   • Candidates are advised to register themselves and apply for participation in rally between 07 Sep 2017 to 21 Oct 2017 on http://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in
  • Only those candidates having valid Admit Cards will be allowed to participate in rally.
  • Admit Cards will be available on Indian Army site only after 22 Oct 2017. Candidate will take the printout of Admit card from Black & White laser Printer only.

Indian Army Recruitment Rally Bharti Kerala 2017: Indian army is going to conduct the open bharti rally in seven districts of Kerala in Nov 2017. Interested candidates can read the Indian army rally notification and eligiblity criteria for the same. An Indian Army Recruitment Rally will be conducted under the aegis of Headquarter Recruiting Zone, Bangalore by Army Recruiting Office, Calicut at Govt College Of Physical Education, East Hill, Calicut (Kerala) from 23 October 2017 to 04 November 2017 to enroll eligible candidates into the Indian Army from seven districts of Kerala (Kozhikode,Kasaragod, Kannur, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Wayanad and UT of Lakshadweep & Mahe) in the categories of Soldier General Duty, Soldier Technical, Soldier Nursing Assistant, Soldier Clerk/Store Keeper Technical, Soldier Tradesmen. Candidates will have to apply online only on the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in from 05 September to 07 October 2017. It is essential to mention Aadhar Card details in online application.

Candidates who apply online for the Rally successfully will be able to Download Their Admit Card after 14 October 2017 from www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates are requested to print their admit card neatly and bring it to the rally site. The admit card should be handled with care and neither folded nor crumpled. Candidates are allowed to apply for only one trade.

Recruitment Programme Date and time of appearing for the Rally will be intimated

Date and time of appearing for the Rally will be intimated to the candidates on their registered e-mail ID and will also be mentioned on the Admit Card. Candidates are advised to come fully prepared to the Rally for appearing in running test, physical fitness tests and physical measurement tests.

Medical Exam of Candidates. Primary medical examination will be carried out at Rally site with effect from 24 October 2017.
Notes:-

  • Candidates who are below 18 years of age will have to bring their parents consent certificate.
  • Sportsmen who have represented India at International level or State at National level and even if they have not obtained 1st/2nd position are eligible for relaxation in physical standards and bonus marks in Common Entrance Examination as per laid down policies on the subject. The validity period of sports certificate produced by the candidate will be two years on the date of screening.
  • Sportsmen who have represented district at state level and university team or regional team at district level and have earned 1st/2nd position will be eligible for physical relaxation and bonus marks in Common Entrance Examination as per laid down policies on the subject. Meet Capt. P Raghu Raman, Founding CEO of NATGRID

When he was in the Indian Army, Capt. P Raghu Raman wrote what he calls a “paper”, which one of his senior-most officers happened to read. Captain Raman, now the Group President of Reliance Industries Limited, concluded in his paper that the Indian Armed Forces adopted a farcical mix of the Nato and Warsaw doctrines; while the former alignment, equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, would not “cede an inch”, the low-cost-arms-using Warsaw line-up let enemy forces advance until the time was ripe for them to strike back. Raman wrote that India followed the Nato policy with cheap “Warsaw equipment”.

After reading this paper, the senior officer told his ward jokingly, “Anyone who writes like this is destined to either be a general or be court-martialed.”
For someone who can weave out detail after detail about “lessons” from the Second World War, other battles and even hostage crisis, such as the one in Russia’s Beslan, much like a war historian, the army was perhaps not the right place to hang out for long. Capt. P Raghu Raman, who joined the Indian Military Academy in 1986 after graduating in commerce from Sri Venkateshwara College, Delhi, was destined to be elsewhere– he quit as captain in 1998 to pursue other interests.

He has possibly one of the most unprecedented career profiles of over 25 years. After spending eleven years as an officer in the Indian Armed Forces, followed by another eleven years in the corporate sector before joining the Government as CEO of the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID). The National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) is the integrated intelligence grid connecting databases of core security agencies of the Government of India to collect comprehensive patterns of intelligence that can be promptly accessed by intelligence agencies. It was first proposed in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2008.

He started his career with the Indian Army. During his service to the army, he was in active combat in Punjab battling terrorists and in Siachen Glacier facing Pakistani troops. He has served as a UN Peacekeeper, as well as been an instructor teaching leadership and strategy to officers at the prestigious School of Armoured Warfare.

After leaving the Indian Army, Captain Raman joined the Mahindra Group in 1998 and helped set up Mahindra United World College. Over the next ten years, he led several companies, including First ChoiceMahindra SSG and finally DLSI, a Mahindra joint venture with British Aerospace before being handpicked to form and head the National Intelligence Grid, Ministry of Home Affairs in the Government of India. After his five year stint as the founding CEO and Secretary of NATGRID, he joined Reliance Industries Limited as Group President, Risk, Security & New Ventures.

Capt. Raman is a Distinguished Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, a frequent guest faculty in business schoolskeynote speaker and columnist on National Security Strategy and Leadership in leading publications. He is often seen doing powerful talks at the coveted Tedx Talks. He has also authored a book “Everyman’s War”.

Meet Lt. Shilpy Gargmukh, First Lady Territorial Army Officer

Amidst loud thunder of claps and soaring enthusiasm, history was created on 5 October 2016, when Mrs. Shilpy Gargmukh, AEE (Production) was commissioned as an Officer in Territorial Army. Mrs. Shilpy Gargmukh is the first lady ever to be inducted as an Officer in Territorial Army.  A grand Piping ceremony was organized in Jeevan Bharti Building, ONGC, Delhi, where Mrs.  Gargmukh was piped by CMD Mr D K Sarraf and Major General Sanjay Soi in presence of ONGC Directors and Senior Territorial Army Officers.  Mrs. Shilpy Gargmukh is currently posted in ONGC Ankleshwar as AEE (Production). She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from BIT Sindri, Dhanbad.

Talking about her remarkable accomplishment, Shilpi said that both her brothers are serving in the armed forces and now she will also serve the nation as a combat soldier. She said she was always fascinated by the olive green uniform and is all set to embark on her new journey. 

The Centre in June this year told the Delhi High Court that women can join and serve in Territorial Army in its railway engineering regiments and will also be considered for honorary commissions. The government’s submission came in response to a PIL seeking recruitment of women in TA.

Territorial Army is second line of defence after regular army that receives military training and renders its services to the nation at the time of emergency.

Indian army has published the territorial army written exam which was conducted on 30 Jul 2017 across the country. Around thousands of aspirants applied for the TA exam and only 36 candidates were able to clear the TA PIB written exam 2017. This raises many questions to the difficulty level set in the territorial army exam which has an individual sectional cut off and an overall cut off. A first look, the questions asked in TA exam is not so easy and the time limit given for the same is also not sufficient, on the top of that the sectional cut off for 4 different parts make it difficult for one to crack this exam with easy. 

We congratulate all the successful candidates for the PIB -Preliminary Interview Board. Dates for the interview will be intimated by the TA Gp HQ directly to the candidates separately.

Lt. Gen. Sanjay Kumar Jha today took over as the 48th Commandant of the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA).  A highly decorated soldier, Lt. Gen. Jha, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and IMA, was commissioned into the 17th battalion of the Sikh regiment on Dec 13, 1980.

 In an illustrious career spanning more than 36 years, the officer has held various staff, instructional and command appointments.  He has commanded a Rashtriya Rifles battalion, an Assam Rifles sector and a Mountain Division in the northeast.  Lt. Gen. Jha has been bestowed upon a number of awards for his sustained hard work and meritorious service.

How SSBs Assess The Trainability of a Candidate?

HOW SSBS ASSESS THE TRAINABILITY OF A CANDIDATE

It is a prominently recognized fact that every individual cannot possess all the masterly traits (OLQs) of his/her overall personality. Henceforth, some qualities may be stronger than the others and even an important peculiar quality may be weak or just missing. It is also not so easy to find a candidate of personality pattern exactly fitting the requirements of an assessor, however, it is possible to find a personality trait which is close to the desired standards.

Armed Forces assessors also face similar situations where it is quite possible to find a candidate who lacks a few qualities, maybe, due to factors which were not in his/her control and if an opportunity is provided he/she may develop these qualities.

SSBs receive candidature of aspirants from all walks of life, and candidates are first assessed by each of the three assessors (the Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and the Interviewing Officer) on their actual performance with the relevant tests employed. This assessment or evaluation is termed as PRESENT LEVEL and represents the obvious performance of the candidates.

Therefore, each assessor considers the various factors related to candidate’s ability to profit from the training and decides to the extent to which he is likely to improve upon his present level, and awards him the necessary credit for the same. This term is called as TRAINABILITY. It is the ability of the person to benefit from the training imparted to him, thereby developing the possible potential. It, when added to the present level, determines the candidates PREDICTIVE LEVEL. This level is regarded as the true index of the level the candidate is anticipated to achieve after training.

Trainability factors:

Several studies have been carried out by the Defence Institute of Psychological Research and also members of the selection boards that Trainability depends on the following factors:

  • Demonstrated Intelligence/Officers intelligence rating (OIR): A candidate having a higher intellectual level, higher IQ, Innovativeness, creativity has higher training potential. As we know that we require dynamic officers hence while assessing the trainability, the stress is given on effective intelligence. Trainability is highest in the case of NDA cadets, being very young.
  • Age: Another factor that decides about the trainability of the individual is the age. The younger the age, more will be the trainability, therefore a candidate of adolescent age group is more transformable and moldable than an adult who has already developed his/her distinct abilities, attributes, and attitudes. Trainability is least in the case of Regimental Commission candidates. Moreover, Tech entry/AEC who join after UG/PG also have less trainability.
  • Socio Economic background/Environment: Candidates from comparatively weaker socio economic strata are likely to progress faster during training than others who belong to a financially sound background. This is because at the training institutions they get better environmental facilities for development of their latent abilities than they had at their home/school or college whereas candidates from well-to-do backgrounds have already availed these facilities and cannot benefit much from the training. Individuals with adequate insight learn all the time by mere exposure to an environment. Some have positive influences, while others draw an erroneous conclusion from the same premise. To some extent, it reverses the factors of age, training facilities and duration of training. In our context, this has been proved by a number of cadets whose performance in academics was very low on merit or even relegated by a term or two for being weak but have gone on to become exemplary warriors.
  • Circumstantial “Kick”: There are many amongst us who also learn through compulsions of extreme situations. Many lessons are taught through deaths of near ones, accidents, defeats, separations, depressions, etc. which no amount of imagination can teach.DLweDZuUQAAqBf
  • Insight: If the candidate knows his capabilities, aptitude/weaknesses/drawbacks, he has better insight and motivation to not only overcome the same but also improve further. Therefore, an individual who knows himself/herself well is likely to benefit more from training than an individual who is ignorant about himself/herself. So a candidate with a better insight has higher training potential, rather than a candidate who overestimates himself/herself.
  • Motivation: It is the driving force present in the candidate. It can be determined from the goal of the individual, how he/she attempts to reach the goal, what is the outcome, whether he/she is optimistic or pessimistic. The greater the necessity or urge for a career in the Armed Forces present in the candidate, the greater the likelihood of his proficiency in training would be. Swami Vivekananda said, “Awake, arise, and stop not till you reach your goal”.
  • Will to improve: This factor also helps in deciding the trainability as to how enthusiastic an individual is to improve himself/herself. “More the keenness to improve more will be the trainability”.
  • Duration of Training: Duration also affects to some degree as the NDA candidates get more trainability marks than that of other entries because their training period is over four years whereas, an OTA entry would be trained in just 9 months, hence would get less trainability marks.To sum up, Trainability is a crucial factor while recommending the candidate at the SSB. Therefore, while awarding trainability marks the above points are kept in mind. A negative and goalless candidate will not benefit much from the training and hence should not be awarded any trainability marks.

Many candidates who were not able to take AFCAT 2 2017 written exam on 27 Aug 2017 due to riot like situations in the affected areas, can attend the AFCAT 2 2017 exam again. As we have informed earlier to those candidates who were facing issues during AFCAT 2 2017 exam to reach the AFCAT centres, to contact AFCAT cell via email and explain their problems. Now, AFCAT cell is sending emails/sms to all such candidates who were not able to take up the AFCAT 2 2017 exam. 

 

 

Official Statement:

In order to afford another opportunity to those candidates who could not appear in AFCAT 02/2017 at any one of the 14 centres identified in Haryana and Punjab, on 27 Aug 2017 due to the then prevailing security unrest, Indian Air Force has planned a supplementary AFCAT on 17 Sep 2017 (Sunday). The 14 exam centres are Ambala-1 & 2, Adampur-1 & 2, Amritsar, Barnala, Bhatinda, Chandigarh- 1,2,3 & 4, Halwara, Sarsawa and Sirsa.

Candidates assigned to one of these 14 centres, who could not appear for the AFCAT 02/2017 on 27 Aug 2017 and wish to appear for the supplementary exam, are to report to their previously allotted exam centre at the time specified in the Admit Card (any change in the address of the centres or time will be notified separately through email/ SMS).
Any other resident of Punjab and Haryana (allotted other centres) who could not appear in AFCAT 02/2017 due to the security unrest, as well as candidates who could not appear in the same exam due to the flood situation in the North East (Guwahati has been earmarked as a centre for the supplementary test), should send their request through email (to [email protected]) with details of Name, AFCAT Number, AFCAT Centre and Branch (if appearing for EKT). These details are required to be forwarded by a date not later than 10 Sep 2017. Requests received after this date will not be entertained. Name of the place, exact address of the centre and time of reporting will be notified separately through email/ SMS. No fresh admit card will be issued for the supplementary test. A career in the Indian armed forces is different from all other career options. Only a defence services lover can understand and feel the urge to serve the nation. For these defence aspirants, all their dreams, talks, daily routine, everything revolves around the Indian military. At the time when most of the kids think of being a fashionista, styling hair, busy wearing branded clothes, clicking selfies, and what not; a defence lover yearns for the Uniform. They eat, sleep, rave envisaging their life serving the Indian Military.

Even before joining the services, they already carry that peculiar sense of passion, patriotism and pride in their gestures. Not easily swayed by the shackles in their pathways and fighting it all as a tough rock. They are already warriors, in the truest sense! Individuals who live their dream every day can never be a loser in life, if or not they end up with the opportunity to serve the nation, they shall always be tough fighters. And this is because they don’t know such things like giving up.

While any other individual would want to settle for a good, decent job with a handsome package, Defence lovers fantasize an utterly unconventional and offbeat goal. After all, how many want to desert their comfortable lifestyles and join a service of everyday life threatening dangers & risks and yet so adventurous and full of pride? Well, not everybody possesses the will to do so. Individuals with a warrior’s heart, a zealous mind, and a spirited soul long to fulfill that moral obligation of serving the nation once in their lifetime.

Let’s read some features which we find only in Defence aspirants that separate them from the crowd:

  1. Izzat or Respect is a very important title for the defence aspirants. Even before joining the services, they have willingly learned to earn it from their family, relatives, friends, and other people. The glint of spark that you see in their eyes when they tell you about their dreams of earning the Prestige and Honour of the Indian Armed Forces, that is when they get those goosebumps and realize that they are halfway there to achieving their goal.
  2. Crew Cut, whether you take it as a trend or discipline; Defence aspirants always try to maintain that crew cut even if they are not selected.
  3. Early risers. All defence aspirants try to follow the discipline of waking up early in the morning, especially months before their SSB. 😉
  4. Strong yearning. They have this strong desire to join the forces and dream about it all day and night. They talk about it all the time. All their conversations reflect something related to the military. They have full knowledge of the Armed Forces, MIlitary Intelligence of around the world. They love to stay up to date about all the current happenings.
  5. Defence aspirants commonly have a one-dimensional view of the world. They envision everything with one perspective of fighting out terror.
  6. Wearing that golden rim black Ray-Ban while coming out of their Service Gypsy is a dream of all defence aspirants.
  7. A military officer was asked, “Sir, how much do you earn?” And the reply from the officer was,” Roughly a hundred Salutes every day!” All defence aspirants desire to say this line some day.
  8. The dream to buy a Royal Enfield or some sports bike might be, is cherished only by the military lovers.
  9. Sukhoi Su-30 MKI or BMW/Audi? Obviously, a defence aspirant would dream of Su-30 MKI more than BMWs and Audi! A Fauji Gypsy means more than anything to them than these luxury cars.
  10. They dream of saving millions of lives by putting theirs on line.
  11. Only a defence aspirant would crave for stars or stripes on their Uniforms.
  12. This one is my favorite! All military aspirants imagine each possible scenarios of gun fighting with terrorists, neutralizing them, saving the lives of civilians and diffusing bombs. 
  13. They have already visualized how their SSB personal interview would go and what their reply would be when the Interviewing officer asks ” Why do you want to join Army/Air Force/Navy?”.
  14. They fancy a life less ordinary and want to live the most lavish life!
  15. Once in a while, all of defence aspirants picture about doing RAGDA (Punishment given to Cadets at Academy).
  16. All of them envision themselves wearing that Olive Green Uniform. Uniform alone gives them the feeling of pride and prestige.
  17. They have crossed ANTIM PAG a million times in their dreams. Goosebumps? 🙂
  18. Only a defence aspirant would feel this when the parents don those stars on their child’s shoulders on the day of passing out parade (POP). Proud and overwhelming moment!
  19. That OTA song, “Josh hai, Humme jaan hai.., is a dream of military lovers; to sing it along with other cadets while being at the academy.
  20. At that delicate age when kids around them are busy saying “I love you”, defence aspirants probably prefer saying “National Defence Academy”. Well, how many of you find these stimulating features in yourself?

Meet Anil Raina Youngest Lieutenant Commander In Indian Navy

Lieutenant Commander Anil Raina, son of Chander Parkash Raina of Miran Sahib, became the first officer from Jammu to lead a Naval contingent during a Republic Day Parade. He is the first officer from Marine Commandos to lead a Naval Contingent in 2016.

He is presently posted at Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala, Kerala as Squadron Commander.

  • Born in a lower middle class family, with father as a shopkeeper and mother a housewife, Anil joined Navy as Recruit after matriculation to support the family even as he was school topper in class 10th in 1999.
  • While working in Navy, he completed Plus 2 in Correspondence and by his hard work, got selected in Commission Exam in Navy in 2001. He joined Navy Academy Goa in 2002 with Plus Two NDA/Naval Academy Entry Cadets.Lieutenant Commander anil raina 1
  • During the three-year training at Naval Academy, Anil achieved various special awards and feats.  He became second Cadet in the history of Naval Academy to win Best Tenderfooter and Best Typhooner Awards in the rigorous Jungle Training camps (Camp Tenderfoot happens in the first year and Camp typhoon happens in second year; Only one cadet is selected as best cadet of whole camp).

  • He was also awarded +2 (Plus Two) grading in Parade Training, the highest grading that a cadet can achieve in his whole training of three years. Only one or two cadets in a course get this. He won Award of Best Master of ceremony for five times during Inter Squadron Dramatics Competition and remained as Chief Editor of Naval Academy’s prestigious Magazine ‘AHOY’ for three terms. He Passed out with the Chief of Naval Staff Trophy for Best Cadet in Seamanship in 2005.

  • He led Indian Navy contingent during SAIL Parade at Bremerhaven Germany in 2005, as a Sea Cadet from INS Tarangini (the SAIL training ship of Navy), along with other countries of world and the contingent was awarded the Smartest Crew Trophy.
  • He commanded the Passsing Out Parade of Sea Cadets On Board Naval Ship INS TIR in December 2005 and passed out as a Midshipman.
  • Anil Raina got commissioned in July 2006, after completion of total four years of training. He volunteered to join combat diving course of ten months at Navy Diving School Kochi, Kerala. He got selected for course and passed out with the trophy of Best Diver of the course in November 2007. He became first Combat Diving Officer in Navy from J&K.Pix3
  • Thereafter, he volunteered to join Navy special forces, Marine Commandos (MARCOS) and got selected for the course in 2008. Passed out in January 2009 with award of Best Commando in physicals and became first officer in Marine Commandos from J&K.
