The candidate has to select SSB interview date from given dates and care should be taken while selecting the dates as no date of change will be permissible after selection. Try to select the dates as soon as possible otherwise, it will be selected automatically.

14 Psychological Tricks Everyone Can Use In SSB Interview

14 SSB INTERVIEW PSYCHOLOGICAL TRICKS

Being a repeater in an SSB group requires a lot of guts. Especially, when it is just your first or second time. You won’t get a chance to speak, you won’t get a chance to pitch in your idea and what not that you finally succumb to they overpowering you and you just feel like sitting in a corner. But not when you know how to influence the group. Here we bring you 14 psychological tricks that you can use during the selection process to make your presence felt:

  1. Just continue to say what you are saying:

During the GD or GPE, you will literally beg others to give you a chance to let speak. But no one will show you mercy. Instead, what you can do is just continue to speak what you are speaking fluently without stopping until everyone stops and listens to you for a moment. That is your time to pitch in the most critical points to the group. Mission Accomplished!

  1. Say and Withdraw:

Use this strategy to put in your points in GD and GPE. Wait for that moment when the group is mostly silent and then put in your points quickly and withdraw before anyone interrupting you. Repeat this for 4-5 times in a task. This is the best strategy one can use for any GD in a repeaters group.

  1. Reciprocate Actions:

While performing outdoor tasks, try to reciprocate and appreciate the ideas of others in the group. This will make you look that you are cooperative and a team-worker. On the other hand, do not be the one who only works his own and doesn’t listen to others.

  1. Agree to make them shut up:

When in GD, GPE or any outdoor tasks, you realize that a particular candidate is not giving you chance to speak and is being aggressive, just agree to his points and say that while his points are good, I have a better idea to execute the same task.

  1. Save statistics for later:

Although data and statistics are always accurate, people tend to believe in stories and overlook the figures. So when you are giving someone some data, give it with a story first and sneak in your data in the middle of your story.

  1. Argue Calmly:

When there is a clash of opinion in GD or GPE, it leads to an argument. When arguing with someone, act much calmer than them. This can cause them to say something particularly irrational which you can use against them. Do it when in GD or other group tasks.

  1. Present Figures:

When you feel that people around you are starting to create a mess, present figures as statistics in your group to make them calm down. This means, while the figures might not be exact but it looks realistic. Do not go too far away with this. breaking the code of ssb psychology

  1. Never nominate:

There are two golden rules of GPE: nominate yourself for the final group plan or do not nominate anyone, second, never contradict the group story. Once the story has been given, GTO asks whether this is the group story, just say “yes sir”. No point contradicting now, except, it is a negative point for you.

  1. Fulcrum and effort:

The whole series of outdoor tests are based on the principle of the cantilever. You just need to search for two things here: the end which will restrict the motion of material (effort) and the point where the weight of your material lies (fulcrum). You either need to make effort or fulcrum or both by yourself, so, always try to find the fulcrum and effort in every obstacle.

  1. BRIEF for Lecturette:

There is a framework to attempt Lecturette. Of any topic that you choose, always try to deliver it in BRIEF, meaning Background on the topic, Reason for choosing the topic, Introduction to the topic, End the topic, Follow-up/Conclusion. Take 30 seconds for each of the acronyms and you would be done in 3 minutes.

  1. Give complete actions in SRT:

While writing SRT responses, follow this pattern to show a complete response:

“He did this, did this, did this and achieved this.” Follow this pattern for every response depending on the number of actions performed by the characters.

  1. Format for WAT:

Just like SRT, there is a format to attempt WAT words too. While making a sentence, try to keep it in this framework: “I strongly believe that _________________”. For eg, the word “Blood” is given. One possible response could be: “I strongly believe that… blood donation is a noble cause” Just remove the prefix “I strongly believe that” before writing down your response.

  1. The interviewer is your friend:

During the interview, think of the interviewer as your old friend or a close relative. This will make you more open to him and you can be more confident. But mind you, this is still the same interviewer, so, focus that you think before you speak every word.

  1. Qualities you’d like to improve:

When the IO asks this question, do not straight away say to him what you lack. Instead, tell the qualities that you lack but are highly trainable, like you can say – “sir, I want to develop a great stamina and a chiselled body.” Or you can also say “sir, I’d like to polish my communication skills with more use of good vocabulary”. Although these are the qualities that you may lack, these are highly trainable and you can achieve this with little or more practice.

Conclusion:

NDA 1 2018 Vacancies

  • National Defence Academy: 360 (208 for Army, 60 for Navy and 92 for Air Force) 
  • Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme) : 55
  • Vacancies are provisional and may be changed depending on the availability of training capacity of National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy.
  • Admission to the above courses will be made on the results of the written examination to be conducted by the Commission followed by intelligence and personality test by the Services Selection Board of candidates who qualify in the written examination.

NDA SSB Interview Procedure

  • The two-stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards. All the candidates will be put to the stage-one test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards. Only those candidates who qualify at stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests.
  • Those candidates who qualify stage II will be required to submit the Original Certificates along with one photocopy each of : (i) Original Matriculation pass certificate or equivalent in support of date of birth, (ii) Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification.
  • Candidates who appear before the Services Selection Board and undergo the test there, will do so at their own risk and will not be entitled to claim any compensation or other relief from Government in respect of any injury which they may sustain in the course of or as a result of any of the tests given to them by the Services Selection Board whether due to the negligence of any person or otherwise. Parents or guardians of the candidates will be required to sign a certificate to this effect.
  • To be acceptable, candidates for the Army/Navy/Naval Academy and Air Force should secure the minimum qualifying marks separately in (i) Written examination as fixed by the Commission at their discretion and (ii) Officer Potentiality Test as fixed by the Services Selection Board at their discretion. Over and above candidates for the Air Force, and all the SSB qualified candidates as per their willingness, eligibility, and preference for Air Force, should separately qualify the PABT/CPSS.

What to do after NDA 1 2018 results?

Succesful candidates are requested to register themselves online on the Indian Army Recruiting website join Indian army.nic.in within two weeks of the announcement of written result. The successful candidates would then be allotted Selection Centres and dates, of SSB interview which shall be communicated on registered e-mail ID. Any candidate who has already registered earlier on the site will not be required to do so. In case of any query/Login problem, e-mail is forwarded to [email protected].”

Cracked SSB Interview In 3rd Attempt To Join Indian Army

Growing up in a family where you are surrounded by relatives serving in the defense forces of the country, one is bound to be attracted to the uniform and the feel of being a “Fauji”. I was true forces admirer since forever. 26th January every year was probably the only day since childhood when I voluntarily got up early, just so that I don’t miss my favorite Republic day parade. I still can’t recall a single time in 25 years of my life when I have missed watching the parade no matter where I am. Lakshya and Chak De India used to be my all time favorite movies and every time I watched them, I felt empowered from within. AR Rehman’s  “Maa Tujhe Salam”  never failed to give me goosebumps. The first time I had to leave the country to stay with my family for three years abroad, the schoolgirl in me kept crying all throughout the way, not because I was going to leave my friends behind, but because I was leaving India behind, literally with “Ye jo des hai tera” playing in my head. As melodramatic as all this may sound, but, as a kid, I never allowed anyone to talk against India being a country with drawbacks, and always defended by saying “It’s the people, not India’s fault! Stop blaming this country!” . I was a patriotic kid in every sense one can imagine. The defense dream kept coming back to me time and again in school and college days in the form of aspirations of becoming a fighter pilot, to becoming a doctor in the Indian Army and finally choosing the path to find my way to join as an officer in any of the three major defense forces.

The realization of this career choice came to me while I was working as a developer in an IT company, after completing my B.Tech. I was sure that coding was not what I saw myself  doing and being happy with, because I was a managing and communications kind of person at heart. Six months into my fmyself doingJanuary 2016, I decided to bid farewell to the job and seriously pursue joining the defense forces. Little did I know, the shock of my life was waiting to knock the doors I was going to open.

I started my preparation at 23 yrs of age, very late for a defense aspirant, due its 25 yrs age limit restriction. Nevertheless, I strongly believed that, even with such limited number of attempts, it wasn’t going to be so difficult because I believed,” I had it in me! “. After first two failed (and missed by a few marks) written attempts of AFCAT 2016, I cleared CDS 2 2016 and simply had happy tears as I was filled with excitement for attending the SSB interview. Meanwhile, with an amazing score I also cleared AFCAT 1 2017, followed by my second and also last attempt for CDSE 1 2017.ssb interview allahabad

My first S.S.B interview experience was for Indian Army at 14 SSB Allahabad in May 2017.My happiness had no bounds not only because it was my first attempt at SSB after clearing a written , but also because Allahabad was the city of memories and graduation for me. All through the journey I kept telling myself ,”Allahabad has already given you so much, it will not disappoint  you this time for sure”. Guess what? I was wrong! After reporting and document check on day one, 250 candidates who reported at the center were asked to attend the screening the next morning. The next day came like a tight slap on my face and I got screened out hence, was sent back home. For those who are not aware, S.S.B also known as the services selection board conducts a 5 day testing for candidates who have cleared their written exam. The testing is a two stage procedure with a screening test in stage one and those who are retained(less than 40% of reporting candidates) are subjected to stage two testing over next 4-5 days. Stage two testing comprises of:

  1. Psychology testing
  2. Group testing
  3. Personal Interview

After the 5 day process of testing the SSB selection concludes with a board conference, followed by results. This is where candidates are informed if the selection board has recommended them to join the particular defense branch. The recommended ones are then subjected to medical testing and finally the all India merit list is released based on the vacancies. Well, out of the lakhs of students writing the exam only 10-15 thousand clear the written and generally only 2-3 are recommended from each of the various boards with just about 11 vacancies for the girls in every batch for a non-technical entry.

I was completely in shock for days after returning back home on the very first day after my first SSB experience. Then came the month of July and also another SSB, this time for Indian Air Force. I reported at 1 AFSB Dehradun, and out of the 60 retained from 250 who reported, I was retained after stage one testing. I was absolutely glad that at least this time, I got to experience the entire SSB procedure, but the results came out and I was not recommended. After days of introspection , I figured out what went wrong and got myself ready for the next  and last SSB(for Indian Army) at Allahabad again. September 2017, brought with it the best set of memories and Yes! Allahabad gave me my first and only recommendation. I got recommended for Indian Army from 19 SSB Allahabad. It took some time to set in. After failing at the SSB twice before, all I was greedy about was getting a white chest number from the blue one, I was wearing.(White chest number indicates students recommended and retained for medical testing).That sense of pride and walking around in a white chest number was as good as wearing the uniform itself. A feeling only a defense aspirant can define.

The whole medial testing was winded up in a week and I was declared medically unfit on the grounds of being overweight and anemic. “How?”  Everyone I knew kept asking me, as to what made me overweight because I was not “fat looking girl”. After starving myself for about a month living on salads and fruits, exercising and what not , I lost nearly 6 kg and was finally declared fit by the medical appeal board. “Ab bass academy jana hai, Ota chennai jana hai”, I kept telling myself. Day dreaming about how life was going to be in the academy. Then in February 2018 came the biggest shock I have experienced in 25 years of my life. I was All India Rank 48 in the Upsc merit list with only 11 vacancies for girls in the OTA (Officers Training Academy-Indian Army), hence, merit out. My dream of serving in the Indian Army came crashing down in seconds.ssb allahabad

Now, all I was left with was one last SSB for Indian Air force. History repeated itself and despite everyone around being sure of me being recommended looking at my performance , I was not recommended. The dream of joining the defense forces as an officer came to an end that very day. Two years of dedicated hard work, hope, failure, success, experiences and  sacrifices all went in vain.                                          

Despite this chapter of my life which came to a sad end and shook me from within for months together, I will still consider it as the best two years of my life. These two years made me into a completely new person with strength, which now knows no bounds. I had experiences I shall never be able to explain. During the SSBs, I met various kinds of people, ranging from those who had been recommended  for over 8 times, yet, merit out every single time with their chances coming to an end, to those, who had invested 5-6 years of their life in trying for defense forces and not giving up with being so positive. I met people who never got screened in and even those who wanted this so bad but were never able to clear the written itself. It gave me strength to fight my own struggle, looking at all these people who were as deserving in every sense to become officers but, failed at it. I learnt a lot about myself during this entire experience and realized how strong I can be when it comes to facing failures and even fears. I bravely performed activities at scary heights like Burma Bridge, commando walk and even the tiring monkey crawl with the utmost ease. These are the activities that scared me to death just by merely looking at them during SSB.

With this I come to the final purpose for sharing this experience and a message for all defense aspirants out there.

“We all have our set of problems and challenges. Some of us are childhood defense aspirants, while some of us realize it in later stages. While we are struggling to make it into the academies and wearing the uniform just once, we see many of the people we met in our previous SSB’s joining academy and passing out. For those who invest years into this, It’s an extremely painful time when this dream comes crashing down. Recommended or not recommended, my friend, you are as capable as anyone else, to become an officer. It is just a little bit of your own psychology and majorly destiny. The sooner you accept it, the better it is. Keep trying till your very last attempt and be extremely positive in every single time. But, if it does not happen, Do not, I repeat, Do not judge yourself. Move on! Because, life goes on! ” .

Also, another huge piece of advice for every defense aspirant, “Keep a backup for an alternative career option and do not just keep waiting for a miracle to happen suddenly. Take up a job in another field that interests you or study further for a career you would want to pursue, if not defense”.

I realized this after investing one year into preparation of written exams and SSB. But I am glad now that, I did pursue higher studies, because that is what I am finally going to build my career in. I might be two years behind my peers and college friends today, but I am thankful to have been blessed to experience this entire procedure of SSB and even be recommended. The tag of recommendation and the sense of pride that I still get by thinking that, Indian Army saw me as a potential officer out of thousands of aspirants is a great feeling in itself. It was every time a lifetime experience. Though looking at the passing out parade or photographs of people in uniform still hurts but, I learnt to fight the negativity that surrounded my mind to achieve something better in life.

With this, I would end on this note by saying, the worst is over and the best is going to come soon. I look forward to a successful future in a great career field, even if it’s the second best in my list.

What is the Newly Formed Defence Planning Committee (DPC)?

The Indian government has set up a Defence Planning Committee (DPC) to facilitate “comprehensive” planning for the defence forces besides focusing on military doctrines to deal with emerging security challenges.

The DPC is chaired by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. The committee also comprises of the foreign secretary, Chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee, the Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs and secretary (expenditure) in the Finance Ministry.

Role of the DPC

The committee would prepare drafts of national security strategy and doctrines, international defence engagement strategy and roadmap to build defence manufacturing ecosystem. It will work on strategy to boost defence exports, and prioritised capability development plans for the armed forces.

The draft reports would be then submitted to the Defence Minister for further approvals.

The DPC would also analyse and evaluate all relevant inputs relating to defence planning and foreign policy imperatives besides focusing on defence acquisition and infrastructure development plans including the 15-year-long integrated perspective plan.

The committee will also focus its energy on development of Indian defence industry and technology advancements.

Sub-Committees

To provide duly considered and refined inputs to the DPC, specific issues would be managed through a number of sub committees.

The sub-committees are likely to be in areas of policy and strategy, plans and capability development, defence diplomacy and defence manufacturing ecosystem.

Earlier Tries

This is not the first time a reform like the DPC has been tried for defence planning. In 1974, the apex group was established under the planning minister to bring defence planning under the purview of national planning.

In 1977, the then government had set up a Committee for Defence Planning (CDP) to allocae resources among the defence services and “undertake regular assessments relevant to defence planning”.

On the lines of NATO

The Defence Planning Committee was a former senior decision-making body on matters relating to the integrated military structure of NATO. It was dissolved following a major committee review in June 2010 and its responsibilities absorbed by the North Atlantic Council.

The DPC was the ultimate authority on all questions related to NATO’s integrated military structure. It provided guidance to NATO’s military authorities and oversaw the force planning process.

Existing Architecture

While India does have a defence planning architecture in place, this is the first time it is creating a body that will factor in everything from foreign policy imperatives to operational directives and long-term defence equipment acquisition and infrastructure development plans to technological developments in other parts of the world while coming up with a plan.

Conclusion

The DPC will prepare military doctrines and, in turn, define Indian military objectives for the future. The doctrines will reflect India’s no-first-use nuclear policy as well as take into account the possibility of a two-front war (on the country’s western and northern fronts). They will justify the Indian Navy’s demand of two aircraft carriers and the role of Indian Air Force in the era of long range stand-off weapons and missile theatre defence.

About NDA 1 2018 Cutoff:
• First of all, the candidates need to know the exact definition of the cutoff. It is basically termed as the minimum qualifying marks which the candidates will have to obtain so as to join the next level of selection.

About NDA 1 2018 Exam:
 
• The exam for NDA is among the toughest examinations in the country which is organized by the UPSC for the aspiring candidates.
• Owing to its high – level, this exam needs the dynamic preparation.
• This exam aims at selecting the most appropriate candidates for the National Defence academy.

About NDA 1 2018 Cutoff:
 
• First of all, the candidates need to know the exact definition of the cutoff. It is basically termed as the minimum qualifying marks which the candidates will have to obtain so as to join the next level of selection.
• It will be released either in the terms of marks or rank or both.
• It may be possible that the cutoff will be released category – wise i.e. different for different category applicants.
• Only those students who score more than or up to the NDA Cutoff 2018 are eligible for the ranking purpose and get the place in the merit list.
• Basically, it will be served as the first selection criteria which demarcate the number of students for the next round of selection.

NDA 141 SSB Interview Dates: Result will be out within 2 months from the date of exams, the SSB interview dates will be selected by the successful candidates for the SSB interview.
 

Preparation Books for NDA 141: Shortlisted candidates will face the SSB interview directly, if you are sure about clearing the final cut off marks of TGC 128, you can straight away prepare for the SSB interview.

NDA 1 2018 Selection Procedure

  • Candidates will apply for NDA 1 2018 through UPSC website.
  • Candidates will be writing NDA 1 2018 written exam on 22nd April 2018.
  • UPSC will publish the NDA 1 2018 result of written exam in a month or two.
  • Candidates who will clear the written exam will get a SSB interview call letter.
  • Candidates who clears the 5 days SSB interview will go for 2 weeks medical examinations.
  • Candidates who are medically fit and find their name in the merit list will get the joining instructions based on the order of merit.

NDA 2 2018 Cut Off Marks [Official]. UPSC is conducting a national level written examination NDA  for the admission to National Defence Academy NDA and Naval Academy examination NA. NDA 2 2018 exam was held on 09th September 2018. Around 3 lakh 12th qualified aspirants are appearing in this examination. UPSC NDA examination is held twice in the year by UPSC.  Selection of the eligible candidates will be done on the basis written the examination and SSB interview test. After that all those candidates who will be declared qualified in the SSB interview they will go for medical examination, and then candidates who make up in the merit list will join the training academy.

UPSC will not publish any Cutoff marks for mark for written examination. UPSC will just publish final cutoff marks aggregately of written exam plus interview Marks. UPSC will publish the list of Roll no of qualified candidates for Admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of the National Defence Academy. All selection process will be completed under the ministry of Defence. The mark-sheets of the candidates, will be put on the Commission’s Website within fifteen (15) days from the date of publication of the final result. (after concluding SSB Interviews)

About NDA 1 2018 Cutoff:

  • First of all, the candidates need to know the exact definition of the cutoff. It is basically termed as the minimum qualifying marks which the candidates will have to obtain so as to join the next level of selection.
  • Cut marks will be given out of total marks i.e. 900 marks.
  • There will be a sectional cut off, means one needs to secure minimum sectional cut off marks, which will be near 25 % each paper.
  • Only those students who score more than or up to the NDA Cutoff 2018 are eligible for the SSB interview.
  • SSB interview will be of total 900 marks, the final marks would be the combination of written and SSB interview marks ie total 1800 marks.
  • Final NDA 1 2018 cut off marks will be published after the SSB interview, candidates will get the joining instructions based on their order in the merit list.
