Brave Lt. Col. Anup, PARA Commando, Who Killed 3 Terrorists, Beaten Up In Road Rage

Lt. Col AnupLt. Col. Anup who killed three terrorists in a personal encounter and earned Kirti chakra was beaten up in a road rage by 5 people. Lt. Col. who is a professional soldier did not react to the uncivilized behaviour of few unknown people including women. Lt. Col Anup who is a trained special forces commando, capable of killing with his bare hands did not lift his hand on the civilians who were assaulting him. Let’s first read about Lt. Col Anup and his story.  STORY OF A FEARLESS OFFICER FROM MUMBAI, THEN MAJOR ANUP JOSEPH, who chased and took on heavily-armed militants in a close quarter fierce gun fight and finally eliminated them shouting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. It was the start of Autumn in Kashmir. The color of Chinar leaves was turning to crimson and the saffron fields looked beautiful. Major Anup Joseph Manjali was commanding ‘Sutrun Company’ of 24 RR (Bihar). On Sept 30, 2012 the unit received credible information on militants holed in the forests of Kupwara.

5 Days SSB Interview

Maj Manjali led his company column under extreme adverse terrain and weather conditions to hunt down the militants. It was the second day of the operation. At around 3.30 am on October 1, the column observed some suspicious movement Maj Manjali established a close cordon around a Dhok, in which five hardcore foreign terrorist leaders were hiding. At first light, the officer, displaying raw courage, crawled up to the entrance of the Dhok and lobbed a hand grenade to flush out the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist on the spot.

Other terrorists ran out towards the forest, firing indiscriminately in order to break contact. The officer, sensing danger to his troops, displayed the utmost presence of mind and utter disregard to personal safety. He chased and engaged the fleeing terrorists in a close quarter battle. After closing in on them, he shot dead two more dreaded terrorists from a distance of approx twenty meters in a most daring act.

For this most conspicuous act of gallantry, an exhibition of raw courage and exemplary leadership, Major Anup Joseph Manjali was conferred the Kirti Chakra, the sole recipient that year of the second highest peacetime gallantry award.


Lieutenant Colonel Anup Joseph Manjali (36), a Kirti Chakra awardee, was allegedly assaulted by five youngsters in an incident of road rage in Malad (West) in the early hours of Sunday. He is being treated for a dislocated shoulder and injuries under his eye, and to the forehead and head, at a suburban hospital.

Lt. Col. Manjali told The Hindu that five men attacked him while he was waiting on the footpath for his mother, who was to be dropped off by a relative after a family function.

“As I stood there, one of the guys came riding on the footpath with two women riding pillion, and demanded that I move out of his way. I stood my ground and he pushed me out of the way with his bike. One of the women got off the bike and started abusing and screaming at me. One of the men started hitting me with a helmet, and in seconds, two more bikes reached there and all of the guys started attacking me. I had raised neither my voice nor my hand at them.”

The police said the accused, Sagar Vinay Singh (21), Shaun Merrian D’Souza (25) and Khizara Abbas Hasan Zaidi (21), were booked under Sections 325, 324 and 34 of the Criminal Procedure Code read with the Indian Penal Code.

Lt. Col. Manjali’s mother, who reached the scene as her son was being attacked, said, “Even after the incident, the youngsters expressed no remorse. One of the women present at the scene boasted that she hailed from a top-notch legal family and was unconcerned about the case. At the police station, one of the parents of the two women even said she was aware of her daughter’s arrogance, as if it were a character trait of merit. What have we come to as a society?”

An officer attached to the Bangur Nagar police station claimed that the CCTV camera in the area was missing.

Indian Navy Executive and Technical Branch Jan 2020 Course

Indian Navy notification executive technical 2019Candidates who want to become an officer in the Indian navy can grab the opportunity now. Indian navy is going to publish the executive and technical branch notification on 12 Jan 2019 and it will be open till 01 Feb 2019, eligible candidates can apply for this entry, if shortlisted, they will attend the SSB interview directly. Applications are invited from unmarried eligible male candidates for grant of Permanent Commission in Executive Branch [Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre (NAIC)] and Short Service Commission (SSC) in Executive Branch viz. General Service/Hydro and Technical Branch (General Service) in the Indian Navy for Jan 2020 Course conducted at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates must fulfill conditions of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

Eligibility Conditions

  • Age: Born between 02 Jan 1995 & 01 Jul 2000 (both dates inclusive).
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Who Can Apply Candidates who have passed Engineering Degree or are in the final year of Engineering course in any of the undermentioned disciplines from a AICTE recognised educational institute with 60% marks till 5th/7th semester in regular/integrated course respectively.Indian Navy Notification 2019
  • * 27 vacancies for General Services and three vacancies for Hydro cadre.
  • Call up for SSB Candidates will be issued Call Up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interview based on their academic performance till 5th/7th semester for all eligible regular/integrated course respectively.
  • Minimum %age on Joining INA The candidates will, however be required to pass final examination (BE/BTech) with minimum 60% before joining INA. The candidates failing to meet minimum cut off %age will not be permitted to join INA Ezhimala.

Note: – (i) Only one application is to be filled by a candidate. (ii) Candidates who are eligible for more than one Branch/Cadre should mention their preference in the application. (iii) Candidates will be shortlisted for SSB based on their first preference. (iv) However, if not shortlisted for the first preference you may be considered for alternate Branch/Cadre subject to availability of spare slots in SSB batches of that Branch/Cadre. (v) Once shortlisted for a Branch/Cadre, subsequent stages of selection process (SSB, medicals & meriting) will be exclusively for that Branch/Cadre only. (vi) Candidates for Technical Branch mentioned above at Ser. No. 3(a)(iii) & 3(a) (iv) can also be allotted Air Technical Specialization/appointed as Air Technical Officer by IHQ MoD (Navy). (vii) No equivalent stream of BE/ B.Tech other than that mentioned in para 3 above will be considered valid for selection process at any stage.

  • Executive Branch (General Service/Hydro): Short Service Commission in Executive Branches (General Service/Hydro) is granted initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 04 years in 02 terms (02 years + 02 years), subject to service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness of candidates. Officers joining under these schemes will not be eligible for grant of permanent commission subsequently.
  • Technical Branch (General Service): Short Service Commission in Technical branch is granted initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 04 years in 02 terms (02 years + 02 years), subject to service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness of candidates.

Selection Procedure The selection procedure is as follows:-
(a) IHQ of MoD reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam/ Kolkata during Apr 19 – Jul 19. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their e-mail or through SMS (provided by candidates in their application form).
(b) SSB interview will be conducted in two Stages. Stage I test consisting of Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the first day of arrival at SSB. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).
(c) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be appointed for training as per all India merit of SSB marks depending on the number of vacancies.
(d) Change of SSB Centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstance.
(e) Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the call up officer of the SSB on receipt of call up letter. Candidates are to download the call up letter on receiving intimation from IHQ MoD (N) at SMS/email (provided by candidate in their application).
(f) No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests during SSB interviews.
(g) AC 3 tier rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for that  type of commission. Candidates will carry photocopy of the first page of pass book or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No. & IFSC details are mentioned, while appearing for SSB.DLweSmrUIAA2xpx

TRAINING
Candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant. Their training is scheduled to commence in Jan 2020 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. Officer of Tech (GS) & NAIC will undergo 22 Weeks Naval Orientation Course and Officer of Executive GS(X)/Hydro will undergo 44 Weeks Naval orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Ezhimala followed by professional training in Naval Ships and Training Establishments. Full pay & allowances are admissible to officers whilst under training. The training duration may get reduced as per service requirements.

Candidates are to register and fill application on recruitment website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. The candidates are to apply from 12 Jan 19 to 01 Feb 19.

Indian airforce is also getting modern fighter aircraft and decommissioning the old ones, same with the Indian navy. No one can deny that the govt is really working hard to modernize our armed forces which were ignored by the previous govt. Below are some official details related to modernization happened in the Indian armed forces after 2014.

The Final Appropriation has been fully and optimally utilized during the said period. Internal Audit and External Audit of the allocated amount is carried out by CGDA and C&AG respectively.

In May 2001, the Defence Industry sector, which was hitherto reserved for the public sector, was opened up to 100% for Indian private sector participation, with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) up to 26% both subject to licensing.  Further, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry has notified revised FDI policy under which FDI is allowed under automatic route upto 49% and beyond 49% through Government route wherever it is likely to result in access to modern technology or for other reasons to be recorded.

During the last three years and current year (upto October, 2018) out of total 188 contracts, 121 contracts have been signed with Indian vendors for procurement of defence equipment for Armed Forces such as Helicopters, Survey vessel, Radar, Ballistic Helmets, Artillery Guns, Simulators, Missiles, Bullet Proof Jackets, Electronic Fuzzes and ammunition.

Government is taking measures for modernization of the Armed Forces, through procurement of new equipment and upgrading of existing equipment and systems. The modernization projects are being progressed as per the approved Capital Acquisition Plans and in terms of the extant Defence Procurement Procedure.

Since the launch of ‘ Make in  India’ in September 2014, several measures have been taken by the Government to promote indigenous design, development and manufacture of defence & aerospace equipment in the country under  ‘Make in India’ by harnessing the capabilities of the public and private sector.

The government has also promulgated the policy of Strategic Partnership in the Defence Sector which encourages the participation of the private sector in the manufacture of major defence platforms and equipment in four selected segments viz. Submarines, Fighter Aircraft, Helicopters and Armoured Fighting vehicles / Tanks.

It is true that the Defence expenditure as per percentage of Central Government. Expenditure has fallen, however, the Defence expenditure in absolute terms has been showing a steady increase.

Defence Projects Under Make In India 
‘Make in India’ in defence sector is primarily driven by capital acquisition of defence equipment and other policy measures taken to promote indigenous design, development and manufacture of defence equipment in the country by harnessing the capabilities of the public and private sector.  In the last three financial years i.e. from 2015-16 to 2017-18, Government has accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) to 111 proposals, worth Rs.1,78,900 crore approximately, under ‘Buy (Indian-IDDM)’, ‘Buy (Indian)’, ‘Buy and Make (Indian)’ or ‘Make’ categories of capital procurement as per Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP), which means Request for Proposal (RFP) is issued only to Indian Vendors.  In the last three financial years i.e. from 2015-16 to     2017-18, 99 contracts worth about Rs.65,471.28 crore have been signed with Indian vendors for procurement of defence equipment.  DPP stipulates a time schedule for completion of the procurement cycle.  The time taken to undertake capital procurement of defence equipment depends on the nature and complexity of the equipment being procured.

The Government had promulgated the Defence Production Policy in 2011 which aimed at achieving substantive self-reliance in the design, development and production of equipment, weapon systems, platforms required for defence in as early       a time frame as possible; creating conditions conducive for private industry to play an active role in this endeavour; enhancing potential of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in indigenisation and broadening the defence R&D base of the country.  Recently, a draft Defence Production Policy-2018 was prepared and placed in public domain to provide a focused, structured and significant thrust to development of defence design and production capabilities in the country.  The Defence Production Policy 2018 has not yet been finalized.

CDS 2 2018 SSB INTERVIEW DATES

UPSC has recently published the CDS 2 2018 result, around 7650 candidates cleared the CDS 2 2018 written exam for IMA, OTA, AFA and NA. We are getting several emails from the candidates asking for the CDS 2 2018 SSB interview dates, in this article we are going to explain the complete procedure of CDS SSB interview date and what actions are required from successful candidates.

Official Statement: All the candidates who have successfully qualified in the written exam are required to register themselves online on the Indian Army Recruiting website joinindianarmy.nic.in within two weeks of the announcement of written result. The successful candidates would them be allotted Selection Centres and dates, of SSB interview which shall be communicated on the registered e-mail ID. Any candidate who has already registered earlier on the site will not be required to do so. In case of any query/Login problem, email be forwarded to [email protected].

  1. 147th Course IMA (July 2019) – Candidates can select the SSB Interview dates for IMA 147 SSB Interview at joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates of IMA-147 (DE) Course (CDSE (II)-2018) who have successfully cleared the UPSC written exam are requested to register on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in if not already registered. Selection center will be allotted ONLINE by 21 Jan 2019.

Note:  SSB Interview UPSC Entries (NDA and NA/IMA/SSC Non Tech (Men)/SSC Non Tech (Women). Candidates of UPSC Entries viz NDA and NA, IMA, SSC Non Tech (Men) and SSC Non Tech (Women) successful in UPSC written exam are not required to carry their UPSC admit card/application at the time of SSB interview. They are required to carry identity proof with requisite documents mentioned in the call up instructions of the SSB centers. Their credentials will be checked against details received from UPSC.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

Direct Entry Petty Officer  – Educational Qualifications. 10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.

  • Sports Proficiency
    • Team Games. Should have participated at International/National/State level at junior /senior level or represented a University in the Inter University tournament.
    • Individual Events. Should have attained a minimum of 6th position in Nationals (seniors) or 3rd position in National (juniors) or 3rd position in the Inter University meets.
  • Age: 17 to 22 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Feb 1997 to 31 Jan 2002 (Both dates inclusive)

Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) – Educational Qualifications. 10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.

  • Sports Proficiency – Should have participated at International/National/State level or represented a University in the Inter University tournament.
  • Age –  17 to 21 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Feb 1998 to 31 Jan 2002 (Both dates inclusive).

Matric Recruits (MR) – Educational Qualifications. 10th /equivalent qualified.

  • Sports Proficiency – Should have participated at International/National/State level tournament.
  • Age – 17 to 21 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Apr 1998 to 31 Mar 2002 (Both dates inclusive). Candidates selected will be enrolled as Logistics (Chef) or Logistics (Stewards) and Hygienist

Indian Navy Sportsmen Pay & Allowances: During the initial training period, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be admissible. On successful completion of initial training, they will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (₹ 21,700- ₹43,100). In addition, they will be paid MSP @ ₹ 5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable).

Selection Criteria: Deserving candidates would be called to appear for trials at designated Naval Centers. The candidates qualifying trials will undergo medical examination at INS Hamla, Mumbai. The offer of enrolment will be forwarded to the selected candidates only, which will be strictly determined by the requirement in particular sports disciplines and availability of vacancies. Request for change of venue of selection trials will not be entertained. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Indian Navy Sportsmen Selection Procedure
The application format is given at the end of this advertisement. The selection procedure is as follows:-
(a) Application will be received only through ORDINARY POST. Application received through speed post/ registered post or couriers will be rejected.
(b) Short-listing criteria will be based on higher sports achievements.
(c) Call up letters to eligible short listed candidates will be posted, indicating date, time and place for selection trial.
(d) All original certificates and mark sheets are to be produced at the time of selection trial.
(e) Candidates declared medically Temporary Unfit in the recruitment medical examination can avail specialist review from the specified Military Hospital within a maximum period of 21 days. No further review/appeal is permissible.
(f) Candidates declared Medically Permanent Unfit in the recruitment medicals can appeal for Specialist opinion in a Military Hospital within 21 days on payment of Rs. 40 /- by Military Receivable Order (MRO) on Government Treasury. (Medical fitness certificate other than that of the specialist opinion in the designated Military Hospital will not be considered). No further review/appeal is permissible.
(g) The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all respects depending up on the available vacancies in particular sports disciplines.
(h) The candidature of candidates selected is valid for the current batch only.
(j) All select listed candidates will also be forwarded Police Verification form along with the Offer of Enrolment and the candidates will be required to submit the same to INS Hamla at the time of enrolment after getting their antecedents verified on this form from the concerned district police authorities. Candidates without the verified police verification reports will not be eligible for enrolment. The format for the police verification form can also be downloaded from the internet site www.joinindiannavy.gov.in
(k) No enquiry will be entertained regarding recruitment / enrolment after a period of six months.

How to apply:  The application is to be submitted on A4 size paper only as per the given format. Only one application form is to be forwarded. Candidates who send more than one application for the same entry will be disqualified. All the candidates who have successfully qualified in the written exam are required to register themselves online on the Indian Army Recruiting website joinindianarmy.nic.in within two weeks of announcement of written result. The successful candidates would then be allotted Selection Centres and dates, of SSB interview which shall be communicated on the registered e-mail ID.   1. Write Down Your Goals:

You don’t need to remember all your goals for the year. Make a list of your goals, write it down and go for it one after the other. Post these goals where you will be looking at it constantly as it reminds you of your goals every time you pass by. Set long term and short term realistic goals and prioritize your goals.

  1. Get Fit:

Physical fitness of a soldier is only next to his/her mental toughness. Go for a run, jog daily, hit the gym and increase your fitness level and stamina. Focus more on calisthenics.

  1. Resolute to reward yourself:

You are the parent of your own life. Follow up on your goals periodically to check the progress and set rewards for yourself on each success.

  1. Strict Social Media Timings:

Social media is the biggest time waste for almost all of us today. Now, get done with the famous excuse of using it for news. Shut it up, read newspapers instead, go get socialize with friends and family and focus on your goals. Use social media once in blue moon and look wonders for yourself.

  1. Manage time and holidays properly:

Not all holidays are meant to be enjoyed, especially when you are a die-hard defence aspirant. Manage your holidays by preparing something that would be helpful for you in the long run, like go for 1 hour extra exercise on a holiday, or go play some physical game with your friends, or organize a mock GD session with your friends – you have a lot to choose from.

  1. Maintain Yourself:

One of the reasons why soldiers look so attractive are the way they maintain themselves. A good attire gives a big confidence boost that helps you achieve many tasks. Start preparing yourself for the military routine already. Start getting up early, start shaving, get haircut at least twice every month. Do these and you will see a major confidence boost in yourself.

  1. Staying Happy, Always:

Keep a positive attitude and embrace failures. Don’t stick to it. Just let it go. You got experience. Learn from it and move on. Resolute to stay happy always. Don’t act as if you owe something to someone (unless you really do, of course). You got nothing to lose here.

  1. Set an example of responsible citizen:

In the long run, god forbid, you might not be a military officer. But this should not stop you from being a responsible citizen of the country you live in. Know your rights, do your part and set an example for your fellow citizens.

  1. Help write the next chapter in nations history:

Don’t be one of them who constantly send WhatsApp forwards criticizing the government or don’t be the one who asks you to send it to 11 others for good luck. Act. Actions speak louder than words. And all fauj need is – yes, ACTION!

  1. Stop Procrastinating:

Don’t be a procrastinator. For this, follow my simple 5-minute rule that says – “if a task can be completed under 5 minutes, do it now; and if it can’t, do it within 5 minutes”. Battle against time and victory shall be yours.

With the onset of a new year, look for a fresh start in our lives to bring about a change in ourselves which we couldn’t have accomplished the last year. Years come and years go and there is only one thing that follows – your hard work, your preparations and your commitment.

JAG 23 Eligibility

  • Nationality – The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Age Limit – The candidate must be of the age between 21-27 years.  21 to 27 years as on 01 July 2019  (Born not earlier than 02 July 92 and not later than 01 July 98 both dates inclusive). The date mentioned in matriculation certificate will be considered as final. No other document will be accepted for age declaration and no further change request will be entertained.
  • Educational Qualification – The candidate must have scored 55% marks in LLB graduation degree (3 years professional after graduation or 5 years after 10+2) and the candidate must be eligible for registration with Bar council of India/ State. Candidates having studied in the college/ university which are not recognized by the Bar council of India will not be accepted.

JAG 23 Medical Standards

  • The candidate must be fit as per the physical standards mentioned in the guidelines available at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • The candidates, who will be recommended by the SSB, will be further sent for medical examination. Those who pass the exam will be accepted.

JAG 23 Selection Procedure

The selection procedure of the JAG entry is as follows-

  • The shortlisting of candidates on the basis of the academic performance will be done by Recruiting Directorate, Integrated Headquarter of MoD (Army). The list of shortlisted candidates will be put on joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be allotted SSB centers and date of reporting will be sent to them by e-mail or SMS.
  • The candidates, who will report at the mentioned SSB center on mentioned date, will face stage 1 (Screening) and Stage 2 (psychology, GTO and personal interview).
  • Those who pass the sage 1 will stay for stage 2 and those who fail in stage one will be set free on the same day.
  • Candidates who will get the recommendation after stage 2 will undergo documentation and will be sent for medical examination.

Training

  • The candidates who will get their names in the final merit list, will be called for training in Officers Training Academy, Chennai.
  • The training will last for 49 weeks and the cadets will be granted commission in the rank of lieutenant after the completion of the training.
  • As per the guidelines and rules, the candidates are neither allowed to marry during training, nor will they not be allowed to live with parents or guardians.
  • Any candidate found married before or during the training will be discharged from the training.
  • The government of India will manage all expenses of the training of the cadets. The cadets will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Defense Management and Strategic Studies by the University of Madras after the end of the training.

Firstly a brief description of mine, I got recommended (AIR 293) for NDA 141 from 1 AFSB Dehradun this year on 27th July. It was my second attempt. My father was in the Indian Airforce. And from class 7th I had a dream to join NDA. Now without wasting time I want to come to the point. After being recommended, I thought that I have achieved my dream and will be joining the Academy (since I had confidence that I won’t be Merit out). But this was my life biggest misconception.

In my medical, I was declared unfit for all arms. Although I will definitely try back next time the time phase I am going through I don’t want anyone else to go through it. I know there are so many medical problems everything can’t be detected before proper military medical. But those problems which are common and  permanent (incurable) like sinus, tennis elbow, flat feet’s, color blindness etc.

These can be detected before, candidates having such kind  of problems should not dream of military (although you can try) because if it becomes your dream to join military you will prepare for exam, them for SSB, take coaching, spend money and time, get some rejections, finally clears it and then you are declared medically unfit in the final stage will break you down as it is in my case.
