7 Tips To Perform Better In TAT

Hi, Warriors! Thematic Apperception Test or TAT comes under the series of psychological tests in the SSB process. Unlike PPDT, it is tested in the second stage of the selection.

Though PPDT and TAT followย same theme, there is a significance difference between the two. PPDT follows with only one picture whereas TAT consists of 12 simultaneous pictures shown back to back, out of which, 1 is blank.

In PPDT, a candidate needs to perceive the details of a picture and then describe it followed by a story and narration. Whereas, the TAT deals directly with the story writing part and there is no narration afterwards.

Here are some tips to perform better in the TAT:

  1. Practising the story writing keeping in front some picture is firstly advisable to the candidates who have cleared the screening tests.

  1. In the test room, when the picture is shown, it is very essential to attentively observe the picture and make out objects and characters shown. Also, keep in mind that the picture is displayed only for 30 seconds.

  1. It is good to be calm, positive for looking at the picture and perceive the theme to write a story.

  1. It should be kept in mind that the picture centres on a hero or heroine through which, you write your story positively.

  1. When it comes to the last blank picture, it is advisable to write the story based on the theme of the immediately preceding picture to make the story more natural and real.

  1. For preparation purpose, you can practise PPDT and TAT alongside. To prepare for TAT, you can go through these original pictures.
