Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, conducted a high-level review of counter-terrorism operations in South Kashmir on Friday.
The visit came in the aftermath of Operation Guddar, where security forces neutralized two hardcore terrorists in the dense Guddar forest of Kulgam. Lt Gen Sharma felicitated personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) for their exemplary role in the operation, which highlighted the effectiveness of joint efforts involving the Army, JKP, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
A key feature of the review was the display of innovations and AI-driven technologies developed by troops, reflecting the Armyโs increasing reliance on modern tools in conflict zones. These innovations have reportedly improved operational efficiency by nearly 20%, according to defense studies.
Lt Gen Sharma praised the troopsโ professionalism and ingenuity, urging them to remain resolute amid evolving challenges in the region. His visit comes at a time of heightened security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in areas that remain vulnerable to infiltration and militant activity.
The Northern Command chief reiterated the Armyโs commitment to ensuring stability along Indiaโs borders with Pakistan and China, underscoring the strategic importance of South Kashmir in the broader security framework.
