The Indian Army on Saturday announced the loss of one of its gallant officers, Major Apraant Raunaq Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice while performing his duties in Jammu and Kashmirโs Baramulla district on Friday.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed the news, stating, โChinar Corps Commander paid homage to Braveheart Maj Apraant Raunaq Singh, SM, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Baramulla district. Chinar Warriors salute the valour and sacrifice of the braveheart. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and are committed to their well-being.โ
Major Singh was a decorated officer, awarded the Sena Medal in 2023 for his exemplary courage in eliminating two hardcore terrorists during an encounter in Kulgam in November 2021. His service was marked by bravery, professionalism, and dedication to the nation.
The Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, also paid rich tributes, stating, โLt Gen Pratik Sharma, #ArmyCdrNC and all ranks of #NorthernCommand pay homage to the #Braveheart Maj Apraant Raunaq Singh, SM, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
