Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan addressed the Western Air Command Commanders’ Conference 2025 in New Delhi, speaking on the theme “विकासशील सक्षम भारतीय वायु सेना” and emphasising the Indian Air Force’s steady evolution into a modern, network-enabled, and future-ready force.
General Chauhan highlighted the IAF’s advancing capabilities across domains, noting that sustained modernisation, enhanced operational preparedness, and rapid adoption of indigenous technologies are shaping an air force equipped to meet emerging security challenges.

He underscored the growing strength of indigenous defence manufacturing and the expanding role of homegrown platforms in the IAF’s operational architecture—core elements of India’s march toward self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.

Reaffirming the importance of jointness, the CDS stressed that deeper synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force is critical for strengthening national defence. He noted that the transition towards Integrated Theatre Commands is progressing with clarity and deliberation, guided by operational integration, interoperability, and a unified strategic approach.

General Chauhan commended the professionalism and commitment of air warriors, stating that their dedication continues to ensure the security of India’s skies and the protection of national interests in an evolving geopolitical environment.
