Jaipur is set to make history as it hosts the Indian Army Day Parade for the first time on January 15, marking a significant milestone in the Army’s outreach to citizens. The parade will be held on Mahal Road, officials confirmed on Monday.
In another first, the Army Day parade will be organised outside an Army cantonment, allowing the general public to witness the courage, discipline, and valour of the Indian Army up close. The event will also showcase the Army’s operational achievements, including displays highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor.
Army Day Events Begin with Medical Outreach
Army Day programmes commenced with a medical camp at the Military Hospital, Jaipur, organised for ex-servicemen, war widows, and their family members. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari attended the camp as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, South Western Command, highlighted the scale of the veteran community in the region. He noted that the command has around 3.70 lakh ex-servicemen and nearly 7 lakh dependent family members, including approximately 31,000 heart patients and 16,000 orthopaedic patients—underscoring the importance of sustained welfare initiatives.
Taking the Parade to the People
Lt Gen Singh said that until 2022, the Army Day parade was traditionally held in Delhi. On the Prime Minister’s initiative, it has since been hosted in different cities such as Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Pune. Jaipur now joins this list, reflecting the Army’s commitment to connect directly with citizens across the country.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari described the occasion as a matter of pride for Rajasthan, stating that citizens live in safety because of the vigilance and sacrifices of India’s armed forces.
A Proud Moment for Jaipur
The Jaipur parade is expected to draw large public participation and will feature ceremonial drills, marching contingents, military hardware, and operational showcases—celebrating the Army’s traditions while reinforcing its bond with the people.
