Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, Quartermaster General of the Indian Army, visited The Desert Feeders at Jodhpur Military Station and inaugurated the Modernised Fresh Ration Management System, a major step towards enhancing efficiency, quality control, and sustainability in defence logistics.
The newly inaugurated system is designed to ensure superior standards in the supply and management of fresh rations, catering to the operational requirements of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Border Roads Organisation (GREF), and the Defence Laboratory Jodhpur.

Developed as an initiative of the Jodhpur Sub Area under the aegis of the Konark Corps, the modernised system leverages improved processes and technology to streamline ration handling and distribution.
According to officials, the initiative is expected to save approximately 3,06,000 man-hours annually while also reducing the carbon footprint by nearly 180 tonnes per year, reflecting the Armyโs growing emphasis on sustainability alongside operational excellence.

Lt Gen Krishnan commended the personnel involved for their innovation and professionalism, noting that such reforms play a critical role in strengthening backend logistics, improving troop welfare, and supporting mission readiness across services.

The project underscores the Indian Armyโs commitment to modern, eco-friendly, and efficient logistics systems that meet the evolving demands of joint and integrated operations.
