The Indian Army’s Southern Command solemnly commemorated the 78th Army Day, honouring the nation’s bravehearts who laid down their lives in the finest traditions of military service. The commemoration was led by Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, along with officers and soldiers of the command.

Paying homage to fallen heroes, Lt Gen Seth and all ranks reaffirmed the Army’s timeless ethos of honour, duty and sacrifice. The ceremony drew strength from the legacy of courage and devotion exemplified by generations of soldiers, inspiring continued selfless service to the nation and unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s sovereignty and integrity.

Veteran Achievers Honoured
As part of the Army Day observances, the Army Commander felicitated five veterans with the Veteran Achievers Awards in recognition of their exemplary contributions beyond the uniform. The awardees were honoured for sustained efforts in:
- Providing guidance and assistance on pension and welfare benefits,
- Facilitating employment opportunities for Veer Naris and Veer Matas, and
- Extending continuous support to fellow veterans across the region.
The recognitions highlighted the Army’s deep respect for veterans who continue to serve the military fraternity and society, reinforcing the principle that service to the nation is a lifelong commitment.
