Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, visited INS Jatayu at Minicoy, the southernmost island of Lakshadweep, on January 11, 2026.

During the visit, the Naval Commander reviewed key operational imperatives and assessed the progress of critical infrastructure projects at the naval base. He was briefed on measures aimed at enhancing operational readiness, sustainment, and the overall capability of the strategically important outpost. VAdm Saxena also interacted with all personnel during a Barakhana, commending them for their professionalism, dedication, and service in challenging maritime conditions.

Accompanying the FOC-in-C, Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, Director General Medical Services (Navy), reviewed preparations for a Joint Services Multi-Speciality Medical Camp planned in Lakshadweep. The camp is intended to augment medical outreach and healthcare support for personnel and the local population, reflecting the Navyโs commitment to operational readiness and humanitarian assistance.

The visit underscored Southern Naval Commandโs focus on strengthening maritime security, infrastructure development, and welfare initiatives across Indiaโs island territories.
