The 4th Eight-Week Training Course in Sports Medicine for Medical Officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services commenced at Armed Forces Medical College on 23 February 2026, aimed at strengthening clinical expertise in managing military training injuries and optimising performance across the Services.

The specialised course focuses on prevention, diagnosis and management of sports and training-related injuries, rehabilitation protocols and performance optimisation—capabilities critical to sustaining operational readiness in demanding military environments.

Simultaneously, AFMC launched a two-week elective in Sports Medicine for nine undergraduate cadets, providing early exposure to the specialty and highlighting its growing operational relevance within the Armed Forces.

The twin initiatives underscore AFMS’s commitment to advancing medical capability, promoting evidence-based care and nurturing future expertise in sports medicine to support soldier health, performance and mission effectiveness.
