Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, visited Shahbaz Division where he was briefed on the Formation’s operational preparedness, modern warfighting capabilities, and ongoing technology absorption initiatives.
During the visit, the Army Commander reviewed the Formation’s ongoing transformation into a future-ready force, driven by the integration of New Generation Equipment (NGE), a robust drone ecosystem, and advanced automation measures. The Division has adopted artificial intelligence-enabled systems, loitering munitions, and indigenous innovations to enhance operational agility and battlefield awareness.

A significant highlight of the visit was the demonstration of mobile Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) fabrication and repair lorries, designed to ensure rapid field-level maintenance and sustainment of drone assets. The Army Commander also observed live precision munition delivery by in-house developed platforms, reflecting increased capability for remotely delivered, high-accuracy lethality.

The demonstrations underscored the Formation’s strengthened ability to counter emerging threats across the full spectrum of modern warfare. The integration of unmanned systems, indigenous technologies, and network-enabled operations is aimed at enhancing battlefield dominance while improving responsiveness in dynamic operational environments.

Lt Gen Seth commended Shahbaz Division for its forward-looking approach and momentum in accelerating self-reliance under the Atmanirbharta framework. He lauded the formation’s rapid technology infusion efforts under the Indian Army’s ongoing Decade of Transformation, emphasising that credible and mission-ready combat power is increasingly defined by effective technological integration.
The visit reaffirmed Southern Command’s commitment to transforming traditional military formations into agile, technology-enabled forces capable of meeting contemporary and future operational challenges.
