Lt Gen Pankaj P Rao, Director and Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College, visited the Forward Surgical Centre at Poonch on 23 February 2026 to review its operational preparedness and combat support capabilities.

During the visit, the General Officer assessed the unit’s readiness levels, training protocols and infrastructure designed to provide timely and critical medical support in operational environments. The review focused on ensuring high standards of clinical excellence and rapid response capability in challenging forward areas.

Lt Gen Rao appreciated the professionalism and technical expertise displayed by Team Poonch Combat Healers, especially while operating under demanding conditions. He commended their dedication and commitment to saving lives in the line of duty.

Exhorting all ranks, the Commandant encouraged the medical personnel to maintain a high state of morale, motivation and readiness, reaffirming the pivotal role of military medical services in sustaining operational effectiveness and mission success.
