General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), recently visited the Simulator Development Division (SDD) to review a range of advanced technologies being developed and integrated for training and operational enhancement in the Indian Army. The visit focused on assessing the progress of cutting-edge innovations aimed at preparing soldiers for modern, technology-driven warfare.
During the visit, General Dwivedi was briefed on several emerging technologies including Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones, robotics, and simulator-based training systems. These technologies are increasingly being incorporated into military training frameworks to create realistic combat environments and improve the preparedness of troops for complex battlefield scenarios.

A key highlight of the visit was the demonstration of indigenous innovations developed within the Indian Army’s technical institutions. Among them was “Paricharak,” a robotic system developed by the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME). The robot is designed to assist in operational support roles and represents a step forward in integrating robotics and automation into military operations.

The initiatives showcased during the visit support the Indian Army’s ongoing transition towards Network-Centric and Multi-Domain Operations, where seamless integration of data, technology, and battlefield systems plays a critical role in operational success. The developments are also aligned with the Army’s focus on the “Year of Networking and Data Centricity,” which emphasizes improved connectivity, digital integration, and data-driven decision-making across formations.

General Dwivedi commended the efforts of the Simulator Development Division for its pioneering work in developing technology-driven training solutions that enhance the operational capabilities of soldiers. He emphasised the importance of leveraging indigenous innovation to strengthen the Army’s self-reliance and technological edge.
During the visit, the Chief of the Army Staff also awarded Commendation Cards to selected personnel in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the development of advanced training technologies and systems.
The visit underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to embracing modern technologies and indigenous innovation in order to train future-ready warriors capable of operating effectively in increasingly complex and technology-intensive battle environments.
