Security agencies in India have arrested an Indian Navy personnel on allegations of espionage linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The arrest was made after intelligence inputs suggested the individual had been sharing sensitive defence-related information with handlers across the border.
According to reports, the accused has been identified as Adarsh Kumar, a resident of Agra in Uttar Pradesh who was posted at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi, Kerala. Investigators allege that he was in contact with a Pakistan-based ISI operative and had been transferring money from his bank account to the handler.
The case came to light after the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) received intelligence inputs about possible espionage activities involving the naval personnel. Acting on the information, authorities initiated surveillance and subsequently detained the suspect for questioning.
During the investigation, officials reportedly discovered that the accused had allegedly shared photographs of warships and sensitive naval installations with contacts linked to Pakistani intelligence. These materials are believed to include images and information related to strategically important naval assets, raising concerns about potential security breaches.
Following the arrest, the suspect was produced before a court and remanded to custody as investigations continue. Security agencies are now examining the extent of the information that may have been shared and whether others could be involved in the suspected espionage network.
Authorities are also reviewing communication records, financial transactions, and digital devices as part of a broader probe aimed at identifying possible links with foreign intelligence operatives. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
