Lucknow, 30 May 2026: The ceremonial parade of the Medical Officers Basic Course was held at the Officers Training College, AMC Centre and College, on 30 May 2026, marking a proud and significant moment for the newly commissioned Young Medical and Dental Officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services.
The parade witnessed the commissioning of young officers, including 28 Women Officers, who marched through the portals of the Officers Training College in perfect unison, displaying discipline, confidence and a deep sense of commitment towards service to the nation.
The parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General Shivinder Singh, AVSM, Commandant, AMC Centre and College. Addressing the passing out officers, the General Officer congratulated them on successfully completing their training and exhorted them to serve the nation with compassion, humility, professionalism and dedication.
He reminded the officers that as medical professionals in uniform, their responsibility goes beyond conventional healthcare. They are expected to provide timely medical support in peace, field and operational areas, often under challenging and demanding conditions.
The commissioning of these Medical and Dental Officers marks their formal entry into the Armed Forces Medical Services, one of the most respected medical organisations in the country. These young officers will now serve across the Army, Navy and Air Force, contributing to healthcare, operational medical support and combat casualty management in diverse terrains and environments.

With the changing nature of modern warfare, the training of the officers was designed to meet contemporary battlefield requirements. The course focused on military ethos, prolonged Combat Casualty Care and Advanced Trauma Life Support, preparing them to handle medical emergencies in operational conditions where speed, precision and professional competence can save lives.
The training also aimed to instil leadership qualities, mental resilience and a strong understanding of the military way of life. The officers were exposed to the demands of service life, including the responsibility of caring for troops in remote areas, high-altitude regions, field formations and operational zones.
