Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, General Officer Commanding of the Spear Corps, visited forward areas and key military garrisons across Manipur to assess the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness, and ongoing capability enhancement initiatives.
During the visit, the Corps Commander carried out an aerial reconnaissance of areas affected by recent clashes and reviewed the overall security dynamics. He visited forward Army locations at Kangvai, Sendra, Litan, and YKPI, where he interacted with commanders and troops, commending them for their professionalism, vigilance, and steadfast commitment to maintaining peace and stability.

Accompanied by the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and other senior officers, Lt Gen Kalia also visited Somsai and Kakching Garrisons. He reviewed counter-insurgency operations, coordination among security agencies, and measures being implemented to enhance operational effectiveness in sensitive regions.

A key highlight of the visit was his interaction with troops at the Red Shield Drone Lab in Leimakhong Military Station and the Drone Training Laboratory at Kakching. The Corps Commander witnessed indigenous innovations in drone assembly, repair, and specialised drone warfare training, aimed at improving surveillance and operational capability in challenging terrain.

Lt Gen Kalia appreciated the troops for their technical expertise, innovative approach, and forward-looking mindset in adopting modern warfare technologies. The visit reaffirmed the Indian Army’s focus on integrating cutting-edge capabilities with ground operations to ensure sustained security and operational dominance in the region.
