The Army Service Corps (ASC) Mountaineering Team was felicitated and formally flagged in following the successful summit of Mt Kang Yatse II (6,250 metres), marking a significant achievement in adventure sports and military endurance.
Lieutenant General Mukesh Chadha, AVSM, SM, VSM, Director General Supplies and Transport (DGST) and Senior Colonel Commandant, ASC, felicitated the team during the flag-in ceremony held in the presence of Lieutenant General Ajay Ramdev, SM, Colonel Commandant ASC, President Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and Director General Integrated Training.

The pioneering expedition team comprised four officers and eight jawans, including a woman officer, who successfully scaled the challenging Himalayan peak, demonstrating exceptional courage, determination and teamwork under demanding high-altitude conditions.
The expedition was undertaken under the aegis of Northern Command to commemorate the 12th ASC Reunion and served as a testament to the Corps’ commitment to excellence, adventure and physical endurance.

Mt Kang Yatse II, located in the rugged terrain of Ladakh, is regarded as one of the prominent trekking peaks in the region and presents mountaineers with challenging weather conditions, difficult terrain and high-altitude obstacles.
Senior officers lauded the team for its meticulous planning, professional execution and unwavering resolve in successfully completing the expedition. The achievement was hailed as a reflection of the Indian Army’s emphasis on leadership, resilience and the pursuit of excellence beyond conventional military duties.
The successful ascent also highlighted the growing participation of women officers in challenging adventure activities and underscored the Army’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and progressive environment.

Officials noted that such expeditions play a vital role in developing qualities such as courage, discipline, mental toughness and teamwork, which are essential attributes for military personnel operating in demanding environments.
