Officer Cadets of the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya, visited the 201 Counter Explosive Device (Counter-IED) Unit as part of their professional military education, gaining valuable exposure to specialised operational capabilities that play a critical role in modern military operations.
During the visit, the cadets received firsthand insights into Counter-IED operations, bomb disposal procedures and post-blast investigation techniques. They were familiarised with the specialised equipment, methodologies and expertise employed by the unit to detect, neutralise and investigate explosive threats in operational environments.

The interaction provided the future military leaders with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by specialised units and the importance of technical proficiency, vigilance and teamwork in ensuring mission success and force protection.
A major highlight of the visit was an inspirational session titled “An Everest Memoir”, delivered by the Commanding Officer of the unit. Drawing from his experiences during an expedition to Mount Everest, the officer shared valuable lessons on resilience, determination, perseverance and leadership in the face of extreme adversity.

The session offered cadets unique perspectives on overcoming challenges, maintaining focus under pressure and leading teams through demanding situations—qualities that are essential for future military leaders.
By combining classroom learning with practical operational exposure, the visit provided a comprehensive learning experience that enhanced the cadets’ understanding of specialised military operations while reinforcing the values of courage, discipline and leadership.

Officials noted that such engagements are instrumental in preparing officer cadets for the realities of military service by exposing them to diverse operational domains and inspiring them through the experiences of accomplished military leaders.
The visit concluded as a day of learning, inspiration and professional growth, further strengthening the cadets’ appreciation of the skills, commitment and leadership required to serve effectively in the Indian Army.
