Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, at Lok Niwas, Leh, to discuss key issues relating to security, governance and regional development.
The meeting focused on strengthening civil-military cooperation and enhancing coordination between the Union Territory administration and the Armed Forces to address the unique strategic and developmental requirements of the region.

During the interaction, both leaders discussed measures to foster closer collaboration between the civil administration and the military, recognising the importance of seamless coordination in maintaining peace, stability and efficient governance in the strategically significant Union Territory.
A key area of discussion was the re-employment of Agniveers within the Ladakh administration following the completion of their military service. The initiative aims to leverage the skills, discipline and leadership qualities acquired by Agniveers while creating meaningful employment opportunities that contribute to regional development.
The deliberations also covered collective efforts to promote long-term peace, stability and socio-economic progress in Ladakh through coordinated initiatives involving the administration and the Armed Forces.

General Dwivedi and Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation and supporting initiatives that enhance both national security and public welfare.
Officials noted that the meeting reflects the continued emphasis on robust civil-military synergy in Ladakh, where close cooperation between the Armed Forces and civil administration remains essential for ensuring security, infrastructure development and sustainable growth.
The interaction concluded with both sides expressing confidence that strengthened coordination and collaborative initiatives would further contribute to the peace, stability and overall development of the Union Territory.
