Director General Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, called on Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Chief of the Naval Staff, to discuss issues of mutual interest concerning India’s maritime security architecture.
During the meeting, the two leaders held extensive discussions on strengthening operational synergy between the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy, with a focus on enhancing coordination in maritime safety, security and coastal defence operations.
The interaction explored avenues for advancing collaborative efforts in areas such as maritime domain awareness, search and rescue operations, coastal security, anti-smuggling measures and responses to emerging maritime threats.
Both sides also discussed evolving joint mechanisms to address contemporary challenges in the maritime domain, including the growing complexity of regional security dynamics and the need for seamless inter-agency coordination.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard, which work closely together to safeguard India’s vast maritime interests and ensure the security of the country’s coastline and exclusive economic zone.
Officials noted that enhanced cooperation between the two services remains vital for maintaining maritime stability, protecting sea lines of communication and responding effectively to both conventional and non-traditional security threats.
