The prestigious Commando Course of the Indian Army culminated at the Junior Leaders Wing (JLW), Belagavi, on 19 June 2026, marking the successful completion of one of the Army’s most demanding combat training programmes.
The course saw participation from Indian Army personnel as well as 38 students from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), including Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Maldives. The participants successfully completed the mentally gruelling and physically challenging training designed to develop exceptional combat skills, endurance, leadership and resilience.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Major General Rakesh Manocha, Commander, Junior Leaders Wing, who addressed the graduating students and congratulated them on successfully meeting the rigorous standards of the elite course.
The Commando Course is regarded as one of the most challenging military training programmes, testing participants through intensive physical conditioning, tactical exercises, survival training, obstacle courses and leadership challenges under demanding conditions.

During the ceremony, outstanding performers were recognised for their exceptional achievements. Lieutenant Anni Nehra of the Sikh Light Infantry and Naik Patil Rakesh Pandurang of the Maratha Light Infantry were adjudged the Best Students of the course.
Among the international participants, Lieutenant Pema Singye Penden of the Royal Bhutan Army and Lance Corporal Abisek BK of the Nepal Army were awarded trophies as the Best Foreign Students, reflecting their outstanding performance and professionalism throughout the training.
The participation of military personnel from friendly foreign countries highlights the growing defence cooperation and military-to-military engagement between India and partner nations. Such courses provide an important platform for professional exchange, interoperability and the strengthening of strategic relationships.
Officials noted that the successful completion of the course by all participants demonstrates their determination, discipline and commitment to excellence in military service.
The event reaffirmed the Junior Leaders Wing’s reputation as a premier military training institution, dedicated to producing highly skilled leaders capable of operating effectively in challenging operational environments and future battlefields.
