Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Central Command, visited forward locations in the Kumaon Sector to review operational preparedness, combat readiness and the operational posture of troops deployed in challenging high-altitude terrain.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on the prevailing security situation, deployment patterns and operational measures undertaken to maintain a high state of readiness along the nation’s frontiers. He assessed the preparedness of troops operating in rugged and inhospitable conditions and reviewed ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness in the sector.
Interacting with soldiers deployed in forward areas, Lt Gen Sengupta commended all ranks for their exceptional morale, resolute spirit and unwavering commitment to duty. He lauded their professionalism and dedication in safeguarding the nation’s borders under demanding environmental and operational conditions.

As part of the visit, the Army Commander also met Shri Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, IPS, Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The interaction focused on strengthening interoperability, enhancing coordination and promoting greater jointness between the Indian Army and ITBP in border management operations.
Both leaders discussed measures to further improve seamless synergy between the two forces to ensure robust surveillance, effective response mechanisms and impregnable border security in strategically important frontier regions.
The visit highlighted the continued emphasis on inter-agency cooperation and integrated operational preparedness, reinforcing the commitment of both organisations towards safeguarding India’s borders through coordinated efforts and shared operational objectives.
Lt Gen Sengupta’s visit reaffirmed the Central Command’s focus on maintaining high combat readiness, strengthening joint operational capabilities and ensuring effective border management in the high-altitude sectors under its responsibility.
