Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Command, presided over the Formation Commanders’ Conference held at Headquarters Sapta Shakti Command on June 5 and 6, 2026.
The two-day conference brought together senior commanders to undertake a comprehensive review of operational preparedness, capability development and future challenges in an evolving security environment.
A key focus of the conference was a realistic assessment of operational readiness, with special emphasis on the integration of niche technologies, strengthening cyber capabilities and advancing the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat through indigenous solutions and innovation.
Discussions also centred on enhancing organisational effectiveness through focused training, capability enhancement, leadership development and the adoption of future-ready operational concepts.
The Army Commander highlighted the importance of leveraging emerging technologies and fostering innovation to maintain a decisive operational edge in modern warfare. He emphasized the need for continuous adaptation to evolving battlefield requirements and the growing significance of cyber and technology-enabled operations.
Lt Gen Manjinder Singh commended all formations and personnel for their efforts in enhancing operational preparedness through innovation, professionalism and a future-oriented approach.
During the conference, the Army Commander also felicitated winners of various competitions conducted under the command, including the Inter-Formation Drone Sub-Unit Competition, Sports Competitions and the prestigious General J.J. Singh Shooting Competition.
He appreciated the high standards of excellence, teamwork and competitive spirit displayed by participating formations and encouraged all ranks to continue striving for excellence in both operational and professional domains.
The conference reaffirmed South Western Command’s commitment to maintaining a high level of combat readiness while embracing technological advancements, self-reliance and transformational initiatives aimed at building a modern and future-ready force.
