Lieutenant General Sanjeev Chauhan, AVSM, YSM, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), President of the Gorkha Brigade and Colonel of 1 Gorkha Rifles, arrived in Nepal on an official visit aimed at strengthening military and veteran engagement.
During his visit, the General Officer called on the Embassy of India Kathmandu and held discussions with the Ambassador of India to Nepal on matters of mutual interest and cooperation.
Lt Gen Chauhan also visited the Defence Wing at the Indian Embassy, where he was briefed on ongoing defence cooperation initiatives and activities involving the armed forces of the two countries.

A key highlight of the visit was his interaction with Ex-Servicemen, during which he acknowledged their invaluable contributions and longstanding service to the nation. He expressed appreciation for their dedication and reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to the welfare of veterans and their families.
The visit underscored the enduring people-to-people and military-to-military ties between India and Nepal, particularly the historic bond shared through the Gorkha regiments and the service of Nepali citizens in the Indian Army.

Officials noted that such engagements play an important role in strengthening defence cooperation, fostering goodwill and maintaining close connections with the veteran community in Nepal.

The visit reflects the continued commitment of the Indian Armed Forces to nurturing the unique and longstanding relationship between India and Nepal, built on shared history, military traditions and mutual trust.
