Shri Mukesh Singh has taken over as the head of Manipur Police at an important time for the state, where policing, public order, coordination among security agencies and community confidence remain key priorities. His appointment as Manipur DGP had earlier been reported after his transfer from Ladakh, where he had served as the police chief.

Following the ceremonial reception at PHQ, Mantripukhri, the newly appointed DGP held a brief introductory meeting with senior police officers. During the interaction, he discussed key policing priorities and underlined the need for professionalism, discipline and commitment in the functioning of the police force.

Shri Mukesh Singh emphasised that Manipur Police must continue to uphold the Constitution of India and the Rule of Law while performing its duties. He also stressed the importance of impartiality and neutrality in public service, stating that policing must remain fair, lawful and people-centric at all levels.

The DGP further highlighted the need for effective coordination with sister agencies to address law-and-order challenges, strengthen security arrangements and ensure better operational response across the state. Such coordination is considered crucial in Manipur, where multiple security and administrative agencies work together to maintain peace and stability.

Senior officers of Manipur Police were present on the occasion and welcomed the new police chief. The assumption of charge by Shri Mukesh Singh is expected to bring renewed focus on professional policing, public trust, inter-agency coordination and strict adherence to constitutional values.

As Director General of Police, Shri Mukesh Singh will lead the state police force and oversee law enforcement, internal security, crime prevention, public order management and coordination with other security agencies. His tenure begins at a time when strengthening institutional discipline, impartial policing and citizen confidence will remain among the most important priorities for Manipur Police.
