Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth visited the Headquarters of Chinar Corps and its formations in Jammu and Kashmir to review the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness and combat readiness along the Line of Control and in the hinterland.
The visit comes at a crucial time when security forces remain engaged in maintaining a robust security grid across Kashmir, with special focus on counter-terrorism operations, border vigilance and the safe conduct of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra. The Chinar Corps, headquartered in Srinagar, plays a key role in maintaining operational readiness and security stability in the Kashmir Valley and along sensitive stretches of the Line of Control.
During the visit, the Army Chief was given a comprehensive briefing on current operational deployments, counter-terrorism operations, inter-agency synergy, evolving operational dynamics and the security arrangements put in place for the Shri Amarnath Yatra. The briefing covered the preparedness of formations deployed in forward areas as well as the hinterland, where security forces continue to operate in a complex and dynamic environment.

General Dhiraj Seth also reviewed measures related to technology absorption, capability enhancement and integrated combat readiness across the full spectrum of operations. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening surveillance, improving operational response, enhancing battlefield awareness and ensuring that troops remain prepared for emerging security challenges.
The review of operational preparedness along the Line of Control assumes significance given the need for constant vigilance against infiltration attempts, ceasefire-related sensitivities and changing threat patterns. In the hinterland, the focus remains on sustained counter-terrorism efforts, intelligence-based operations and close coordination among the Army, police, paramilitary forces and civil administration.

The ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra has also added an important dimension to the security responsibilities of formations in the region. The Army Chief was briefed on the security architecture created to support the pilgrimage, including coordination among various agencies to ensure the safety of pilgrims, routes and critical areas.
During his interaction with troops, General Dhiraj Seth commended all ranks for their exceptional professionalism and steadfast commitment while operating under challenging conditions. He appreciated their relentless efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The Chief of Army Staff also acknowledged the dedication of personnel deployed in difficult terrain and operationally sensitive areas. He highlighted the importance of continued vigilance, mission readiness and synergy among all stakeholders to effectively respond to the evolving security environment.
The visit reinforced the Army’s focus on maintaining high levels of combat readiness, operational efficiency and technology-driven capability enhancement in Jammu and Kashmir. It also underlined the importance of integrated operations in ensuring peace, stability and security along the Line of Control and across the hinterland.
General Dhiraj Seth’s visit to Chinar Corps reflects the Army leadership’s continued emphasis on forward-area preparedness, counter-terrorism effectiveness, inter-agency coordination and troop morale in one of India’s most sensitive operational theatres.
