Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), has congratulated 60 Parachute Field Hospital for its exemplary humanitarian service during Operation Sagar Bandhu in Sri Lanka.
The Indian Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) unit was deployed at Mahiyanganaya from December 2 to 12, 2025, in response to widespread devastation caused by a severe cyclone. Operating under challenging field conditions, the 85-member dical team provided swift and comprehensive humanitarian assistance to the affected population.

During the deployment, the team delivered medical, surgical, and dental care to over 7,000 civilians, addressing injuries, illnesses, and public health concerns arising from the disaster. Their rapid response, professional expertise, and compassionate care significantly alleviated human suffering in the cyclone-hit region.
In recognition of its outstanding contribution, the unit was formally commended by the Sri Lanka Army, reflecting the high standards of professionalism, operational readiness, and humanitarian ethos demonstrated by the Indian military medical personnel.

Congratulating the team, Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin highlighted that the mission exemplified the core values of the Armed Forces Medical Services โ โalways trained, always ready, and always humane.โ She noted that such operations reinforce Indiaโs enduring commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the region.
