The Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the 12th batch of nursing cadets was held at the College of Nursing, Army Hospital (Research & Referral), formally inducting 30 young cadets into the Military Nursing Service.
The solemn ceremony, conducted on January 16, 2026, marked the beginning of the cadetsโ professional journey in military nursingโsymbolising dedication, compassion, and service to the nation. Lieutenant General Avinash Das, Commandant of Army Hospital (R&R), graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Addressing the cadets, he described the ceremonial lamp as a beacon of knowledge, responsibility, and unwavering duty, and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and empathy in their careers.

Major General Rachel Thomas, Principal Matron, administered the Nursesโ Pledge, reinforcing the ethical foundations and values central to the nursing profession within the Armed Forces. The pledge underscored commitment to patient care, integrity, and service before self.

As part of the ceremony, meritorious cadets were felicitated for their outstanding academic and professional performance, recognising excellence and motivating the new batch to strive for distinction.

The event reaffirmed the Indian Armyโs emphasis on nurturing skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals and highlighted the vital role of the Military Nursing Service in supporting operational readiness and soldier welfare across the Armed Forces.
